I'm a white man from California and my wife introduced me to bachata and it has become my favorite music of all time and listen to it everyday! I get some funny looks sometimes but i don't care. I've been very dedicated to learning Spanish for 8 months now and can finally understand most of the songs and I practice dancing everywhere! At work, cleaning, with my wife. Anywhere! In case you don't realize it. This type of dance uses all the muscles in your body. More than any other kind of dance.
It reminds me of the good old days when we were in the Dominican Republic, such a pleasure to be thrown back. All the people there were so nice and had a good attitude despite not having much. Someday I’ll be back :)

I am Turkish living in NYC and a few years ago I fell in love with Spanish in the streets of NYC and living amongst Dominicans and Puerto Ricans. That’s when I started LOVING bachata, merengue, reggaeton. I have been learning Spanish for 3 years now. There’s so much to learn and I only understand 10% of what’s being said in these songs but it makes me so happy and picks my mood right up. I hope to speak fluent Spanish one day 🎉
