The first point about slowing down and not rushing is sooo true! Good little reminder, nice video Roman!

No. 6 - watching YT tutorials instead of taking photos :D I can see by myself - I watch tons of YT videos about how to photograph, but I go for a shoot very rarely :/

Thanks for the video, really needed to hear all of that! Especially the not to care too much about the photos thing. Last Saturday, I did a 3h hour photowalk in Brussels, had the best time!! Got back home, I hated almost all my shots and felt very angry at myself. And I went nuts on the editing too. So all the fun and good times were lost because I was mad at myself... for... enjoying myself doing shit?! 😂

    nice video!
one thing I do as "goal of the day" sometimes is to constrain myself in one technique. Be it zone focusing, sunny 16, or whatever. just to chill about what exactly is coming out of the day or session, but be sure that the skill I've planned, to be well exercised.

My junior soccer coach always said: "on the pitch you often have more time than you think"
I still use that advice, but now in my street photography :)

All the good points you've made boil down to each of us enjoying our photography journey. Rushing, not planning, being too self critical are all signs that we are trying to take pictures not make photographs.

When you're married and get out every weekend I do concentrate my photography on the subject we are visiting. But when I go out on my own I just enjoy photography for the random subjects and interacting with the people I meet. It's the ultimate stress reliever.

Great video Roman. Can totally relate to rushing. I don’t like disturbing someone’s peace hence I take the photo instead of waiting for a better composition.

Not focusing about the end result really is true. Most photos I take in the streets looks like crap when I take it but then I put them in Lightroom and crop it a bit and edit the lightings it turns out to be a really good one

Every time I go out, I’m either with my wife or friends that wants to tag along. I’m rushing 100% of my photo. Having other wait for me or rush me became a hassle. Recently I feel like all my photos are complete shit. I think it’s time I stop taking photos and go have an adventure by myself. But it’s hard especially when you got a pregnant wife.

About rushing, I agree with you happened to me so many times. But sometimes what make the picture is very ephemeral. So what I now try to do is take the first shot as soon as possible then slow down move around think about composition and so on

Another vid I needed to sit through.
I have had two weeks of "These pictures are Crap," and becoming stressed about not having a result.
Time to forget the result and take some random junk for the sheer hell of the enjoyment without thinking, "I aint got a result today."
    Thank you.

Good video, as usual. I just have a question. Actually, it’s not about this video but the previous one. There was a moment when you said (I’m paraphrasing here; I’m not usually use that kind of vocabulary) that you missed a good shot. Here’s my question. What exactly constitutes a “good shot” for you?” In other words, what makes it a “decisive moment.” I’m not a street photographer per se. I’m more into lifestyle and landscape. Still, sometimes I shoot something close to street photography, so I’m really curious. Maybe u can do a video about it. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment! That particular moment I was in a location where I know I can get a photo that I like and it is a matter of the right subject and light. In that moment as I walked round the corner, the light was there but I was about 5 seconds too late for the right subject. In general terms I would say give this video a watch I made last year about good / great photos...... ua-cam.com/video/t05-zr2eYZc/v-deo.html

So relate to this as a beginner. Coming from shooting with a phone to the X-T3, I feel like I stress over settings and as a result my composition suffers. And, composition is the thing I enjoyed the most when shooting with my phone. I don't have the complete confidence yet in fluid/candid situations in terms of settings. Hopefully the onset of spring and nice weather will help as I'll enjoy getting outside more. Thanks for the video! Rock On!

    • @snapsbyfox
      @snapsbyfox  3 роки тому +1

Some useful tips there Roman. When I go out with my camera it's a time for me to relax and do my own thing. That means like you I just tend to get into the zone and tune everything else out. Although it is sometimes good to walk around with others for the exchange of technique and composition ideas.

I really enjoy focusing on a technique for a photoshoot. I've gone out trying to capture motion blur (cars, trains etc), or trying long exposure with a tripod. It tends to focus my energy and dictate subject matter in a scene which as a beginner I find really helpful.

Great information Roman you hit all the good points. I have moved around a lot in my life. There is a great benefit to picking a place and going there to wander around taking photographs even if they are throw aways. Watching the people, the light and the activity shows us many different perspectives to capture

I actually resorted to shaving my head last March, and have done so since just so I don't have to worry about not getting a haircut.
