I have a 1930's 261 with freight cars and three passenger cars two brown and one green. It belonged to my late brother in law. I love it. I also have an electric 248 early 1930.s and a late 1930.s 1666.
    Great video

Thanks so much for watching! Those locomotives are fantastic beautiful works of art. I love the 248, I blame that engine for getting me hooked on Pre War

I have my father's 262 (no E) that my grandfather got him in 1931. I had a Lionel Tech (who said it was in great shape) tune her up a few years ago. She still runs great, and I love the ozone smell. Looks good with the cars Dad had with it.

Thank you for watching! Always love hearing the stories on collections and where pieces came from. That smell never gets old , brings me back to when I was running trains with my dad and I could barely see over the platform.

Happy New Year to you and yours Nick! And congratulations on that 262e!
Not looking for one but it "spoke" to you? Yeah, I can understand that! I'm not into pre-war but when I saw my 259e and some assorted cars at one of our club shows it just said "Please take me home with you!" And not just once but every time I walked past it! What can you do? I took it home and I'm lovin' it!
    "Party like it's 1939!"
Great to hear you're enjoying the new job! Remember Winston Churchill's advice to his children as to a life's work: "Do what you like, but LIKE what you do!" Sounds like you're right where you need to be. And don't worry, when your muscles get built-up and used to the job you'll lose the soreness.
Thanks for the video! (It gave me something to watch since the Rose Bowl Parade's not on until tomorrow!)

Great to see you back from training, and congrats on your new job! I'm so glad it's going well for you. That's an awesome engine, very nicely detailed for its era. I love the brass, copper, and red accents on it. Those cars work well with it, and I do like the colors. Very fitting for that era and that locomotive. Enjoy!

Beautiful! The loco should run on O-31 curves without derailing if you add some weigh to the front truck. The colors of your baggage and passenger cars are called terracotta and cream, my favorite. Congrats on the job.

I just went to the TCA website and the book's not listed for sale anymore. In addition to Nick's suggestion I'd suggest hitting what train shows you can and keep your eyes open, you might get lucky. For what it's worth I've never seen it myself but it's one I'll be looking for.

Great video, not sure how I missed this. I picked up a 262 a few months ago and had to add some 0-42 tubular to my layout. It didn't like the Atlas 0-36 or 0-54 at all. There's that sweet Yellowbelly.

I I have my grandfather’s Lionel lines #262 locomotive but it’s missing the cowcatcher which appears to have broke off at one point in its life before he handed them down to me. How would I fix mine and attach a replacement cowcatcher?

Check the lubrication on the gears and bearings, if it hasn't been run in a long time the lube's going to need to be refreshed.
