Hi there, the same happened to me. I just cleaned the electrical contacts (smartwatch and charger cable) with a cotton swab + alcohol and let it dry. It is now charging normally. Important never connect to charge when the electrical contact is wet (water or sweat).
Based on the replies here, I'm thinking these watches have an issue en-masse. It's not just us, I'm sure. Garmin offered me the same thing today after my watch died last night. My watch was in battery saver mode and had been for around 7 weeks. Finally died last night when I was sleeping. Cleaned contacts and went to charge it today-and nothing. I have it outside hoping it'll solar charge while dead. We'll see what the next few hours brings. If not - I'll contact Garmin.
@Renato Silva The watch did solar charge that day so I did get a bit of extra juice from it that way. The next day I received a delivery of highly rated non-OEM charging cables. Tried one cable once it arrived and my watch successfully charged regularly. My theory now is it may be an issue with OEM charging cables, even after proper recommended cleaning procedures are performed on both the watch and the cable. But this is just my theory based only on my experience. My recommendation would be to try a new cable either OEM or highly rated non-OEM. If that doesn't work, it must be the watch.
So I did something a little different and it worked. I connected the charger to a USB A to USB C adapter and hooked it to a “fast charging brick” that came with my iPad Within a minute it left that screen and started charging. This is after I left it on the normal charger FOR HOURS and nothing changed

@@deepfish I have one too and it’s not taking or holding charge as I plug it in it turns on shows thst it’s charging but it’s not holding the charge

mine charges in sunlight and says 40 days but at night time it drops to zero very quickly

In my case, I called to garmin tech support, and they changed my watch for free.

Unfortunately but fortunately, garmin tech support decided to change mine for another one, new.
You cannot charge it with a Plug, you need to charge it with sunlight.
You can charge it with the cable. It even comes with a charging cable. That what I charge mine with since the solar part quit working
