Very interesting stuff me boss...additionally I have been exposed to another reason for Reluctance now that I am teaching outside of Jamaica...some are reluctant because they cannot read, they cannot read and they speak another language ( French or Spanish) as their first language, the last is shocking!....They can read English but they intentionally feign ignorance /malinger because their parents tell them to not participate in English BECAUSE THEY DON"T WANT THEM TO LOSE THEIR NATIONAL (Either Haitian or Dominican Republic) IDENTITY.
