- California got record amounts of water this year. The rivers have been pouring into lakes, overfilling them so much, the water is sent off to other areas. We took a trip up the Kern River to look at some of these amazing water ways. We also took the drone up a few times. If you've never visited Kernville or the Kern River, it's worth a trip if you're in California. The Kern River is part of Sequoia. Lots of people camp and hike along the water's edge. It's a hidden gem of California.
I lived in kernville from 1967 to 1969 & in 1968 ? it was a heavy snow year & the kern river was high all spring & was washing out portions of the road driving up the river from kernville to johnsondale.
cool video
Great coverage ! Live here in the Valley. Yep, we full ! Lake at 535k acre foot compared to last year around 75k AF. You filmed lower flows around 3500 cfs, and upper flows 5000 cfs ! 8/12/23 lake fill is now slowing, it ok, we full full full !! Great Work, thanks for showing the Valley !!
we still need water to fill lake kern and Buena Vista Lake
My understanding, both are full, water was cut off from flows to Tulare lake. So, they are not full, live here in the Kern Valley ?
GREAT VID!
Thank you. Pretty cool place.
Hello and thank you for a great video. I'm looking to camp at the Fairview campground this weekend and I have a 3-year-old boy. I'm a little concerned about the water levels being that they're so close to the campground. I was trying to get a gauge of the levels based on your video so I wanted to ask if the view of the river at the 8-minute mark is from the water right by McNally's which is where the Fairview campground is. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you
Thanks!
Super informative. Thank you for keeping us city folks updated. We are heading up for the long weekend and I cannot wait to see the lake and River so full.
Any new upcoming boat videos? Loved watching those. Maybe some at the Lake House as well?
Yup, I got one coming on almost sinking my boat. Going to do it this weekend at the lake.
What part of the river where the sides at fish up by Johnson dale a lot have not run across the slides looks like a good day of fishing?
Everything in Cal is hanging by a thread. It's one extreme to the next.
