Beat the game at around 5 hrs 20 minutes last night, gonna see if I can smoke that record tonight now that I’m very familiar with the layouts and puzzles in this new version

Man! You are a walking Silent Hill encyclopedia! The enjoyment you're having by carefully pacing your visit to see every detail shows how much love you have for this game. I'm currently at Heaven's Night as I write this, and I'm glad I'm rewatching the game through your eyes for a refresher of the original. As a long-time fan, this brings me so much joy. Thank you, Nubzombie!
My obsession with this series/game all started when i was sitting in my cousins apartment and asked him about his games. I pulled out Silent Hill 2 and asked what it was. I dont remember what he said, just something to the fact that it was scary and fun. He then just gave me the game and called it a day. I can't believe it has come this far, and so much more has been done with Lore. I absolutely love it! Thank you for your content so I can enjoy it without having the game!

@@themaxterz0169 that's actually a really good point. I don't even think about the OG game jank anymore because it's all second nature to me after years of playing and speedrunning. The new jank sticks out more just because it's less familiar, and at the very least, even if it's not my favorite personal setting, the icon visibility solves the issue.
Hi Nub, I was 41 when the original game came out and I’ve loved it since. I’m not sure that I’ll ever fork out the £470 for a PS5 just to play SH2 remake but, in the meantime, your playthrough is very much the next best thing. Regards from England 👍
I'm halfway through the "normal" hospital... Gosh it's amazing.. haven't felt this uneasy playing a game since SH3 came out. They nailed the atmosphere and even though i could nitpick some stuff (i'm not a fan of the few action sequences like right before woodside), but if that's an indicator of what future SH games can be, i'm cautiously optimistic for the series' future. Can't wait to hear your full impressions and watch you dissect every nook and cranny.
I missed many things in my playthrough as well, this game is incredibly detailed so I look forward to replaying it and finding more interesting things.
Thank you so much for the heart! I have recently lost my love for watching gameplay on Twitch and UA-cam. It got too oversaturated and boring. You are funny, original, and are a breath of fresh air to the community. I love all of your attention to the details and your knowledge about the franchise. Subscription: Earned. Keep up the good work 🙌🙌🙌
Hey Nub, I just wanted to say, I've been a huge fan of yours for many years, got a chance to attend a few streams, watched a ton of your Silent Hill videos (including several Book of Mondays). I love your attention to detail and your passion for this series, and have learned so so so much from watching your detailed story play throughs of the original games, digging into all the little stuff, and backstories for the development of the games, or why certain things were designed the way they are. I've been looking forward to seeing your reaction to this game, because I think it's a lot better than most of us anticipated, and I value your opinion greatly. Watching you spend an hour and a half slowly analyzing every little detail of the walk into town is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for here. I'm thrilled to see your criticisms and appraisals, including elements I haven't even noticed like the environmental audio queues for buildings you can enter. I firmly believe that the kind of work you put out, analyzing these games, is the kind of constructive and informative content that developers like Bloober can learn a lot from, to help them get a better understanding of some of the nuance and details that went into why the original games were made the way they were, and as a result, help them make better games. The attention to detail I've seen in this remake has demonstrated that they've been listening - they've been participating in the community's discussions (at least to a degree), and the devs behind this game genuinely do care a lot about Silent Hill. Thank you for doing what you do. Keep it up, mate.
Just recently found your channel, was listening to an iceberg thingy Tuned in to the channel to see if you were playing the remake, and indeed you were! Really, REALLY loved your commentary. It's very clear your love for Silent Hill, and Silent Hill 2 especially. It really comes through in your dialogue. Looking forward to watching the rest of the playthrough!
Glad you're enjoying the videos, I'll likely be finishing up my first playthrough after some long streams this weekend, with uploads here shortly afterwards.
1:18:52 good catch nub. This is definitely a reference to the overpowered prominence of el fuerte and this is likely alluding to the power imbalance between James and Mary
This is a 10/10 for me…. Even with the lackluster deliveries at certain parts and the moments that could have been made more cinematic, that were not made more cinematic…. We have a grand slam of a product, and if they made SH1, 3, and The Room, we wouldn’t have to be so cautiously optimistic this time.
Also a 10/10 for me. My only complaint right now is that James doesn't keep holding his weapon. Makes him seem unprepared or something. Nothing an update can't fix though!
Ayyy, I'm back. Just finished the game, and started messing around with speedrun pathing. I'm playing on PS5, no mods or glitches or anything, just trying to get the pathing down. The run from the car to the Apartments took me 14 minutes and 2 seconds on my fastest try. Really curious to see what this is going to look like once folks like you, Nub, start digging into the strategies and techniques. Learning little things like timing for skipping cutscenes, toggle sprint instead of hold and when to push it vs when it'll automatically carry over (seems to reset to walking after cutscenes, but carries over from most traversals), and then just the path in general. Seems fastest to get into town, head straight to Cafe Texan, then to Groovy, then all the way down to Saul Street Apartments, then up to Bar Neely's to tackle everything right there all at once, then onward to the key and the apartments. That was my 14 minute run. First time I tried it, I went to Neely's first, then up to Groovy, then Saul Street, and as I was climbing down the ladder I realized I forgot to run to Cafe Texan for the coin, so I had to go all the way back... That run was just under 18 minutes.
I'm loving this game so far. Last night I finished the fight with Abstract Daddy, and have entered the Labyrinth proper. I've got a handful of gripes, but nothing terrible, and overall I've been thrilled by the quality of this game, and what it means for the series' future. I can only hope successive games will follow the high standard Bloober Team has set for the new generation of Silent Hill games. Bring on Townfall. Bring on F.
I played through it. I am very happy for it. I have seen volatile comments disparaging the remake but I think like the original, with time, history will vindicate the remake. It's beautiful in its own way. PS, I played through it with 90's on, no UI, all settings low, and 30 FPS limit, just to go back.
Great stream as always nub, this game looks absolutely phenomenal... But I gotta ask are you okay bro? Do you have a chronic condition? This isn't the first time you've complained about feeling ill recently... I saw a vod recently where you couldn't even use your mic cuz you were so sick apparently. Maybe there's some nasty mold in your house that's fucking you up? Well whatever the issue is I hope it's nothing serious dude, anyway I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of this playthrough!
I saw that Jacksepticeye uploaded part one to his playthrough but I ran to watch yours instead! Your knowledge is unmatched and I'm so happy you're on UA-cam now!
I'd really love to see you make a video on the little details/changes the remake makes compared to the original, seeing you catch small details just in the spawn area alone was really interesting to see.
I've just finished the game on PC and I gotta say, if this is the actual graphics on a PS5 console - I'm glad I bought it on PC. Because this looks like the original, compared to the PC version. I know how much of a fan of the game you are, please please please try it on PC.
It's probably the video compression - remember this is being broadcast onto twitch, which has a maximum bitrate cap of 6000 Kbps and 1080p/60fps video quality. Obviously it looks better when you are just playing it on your own machine directly.
Happy Burger was in SH2 original, you just couldn't go inside, same location. They changed the health drink labels! I like the Bar Neely's matches though!
Maybe the "Vice Bizkits" is a weird way to make a Portishead reference? Might be a little too far fetched, but that's why I love your style of playing, and overall love for the series. You give us a chance to observe the little things so we, as a community, can come up with our own theories. I can go on all day about that, but instead I'll shortly say that I am so far very impressed with the game. Thank you for uploading your experience to UA-cam. Didn't, COULDN'T, watch anyone else first. 😎
hey! i‘m new here in your community and you are awesome!!! i’m also a huuuuge silent hill fan :) my first game was shattered memories back in the days! i would really like to know which character you like the most and why ??? what’s your favorite moment in sh2?? i‘m curious :)
Welcome, glad you're enjoying the videos! My favorite character is Heather in SH3, I was around the same age when that game came out, and my father had passed away not long before, so I related very strongly to her attitude, her anger and sadness at losing her father, and generally her more 'real person' reaction to things that made her feel like someone you could really know. My favorite moment in SH2 original is the staircase scene with Angela. In the Remake, I really enjoyed the scene of James confronting Eddie before they fight.
@@Nubzombie thank you so much for the warm welcome! 🫶🏻 i really appreciate you sharing that personal connection with heather, it makes a lot of sense why she’d be so meaningful to you. i totally agree that her reactions feel so real and relatable. and yes, the staircase scene with angela is such a powerful moment! thank you for sharing your favorite scenes and thoughts with me! i also love how you pay attention to the small details - it’s really awesome and makes your content even more enjoyable. i‘m really looking forward to watching more of your sh videos! greetings from germany!
Original title - SIlent Hill 2: Born From A Wish Remake - Silent Hill 2: Car Thief Simulator I find it so hilarious you can just smash every single car window in the game with a specific melee animation, it's the most unintentionally funny thing they could've done to the franchise Tune in 3 years from now to play Silent Hil 3: Shoplift Simulator
7:53 the amount of accessibility is quite a bit, while I will definitely not use most of them. I do appreciate that they are included. Moreover, speed running will definitely utilize the high contrast mode.
As much as I am absolutely loving this remake, I’m about 10 hours in, there are some things I would love to see implemented: variable walking speed, a zoom function maybe hold R3, more fog around James feels like he has a fog force field, some graphical hiccups and tidying up visually especially reflections I’ve seen some doors and windows spazzing the fuck out yo, that sheen on James’ hair ruins the immersion sometimes for me, the guns feel a bit robotic would be cool if James could miss a shot here and there or struggle to reload his gun under pressure or something, tank controls and fixed camera angle setting would be insane as well imagine that, anyone got any other suggestions?
Alright. As it's freday evaning in sweden. So have I time to make a comment on the first part of this playthrough. And for someone how have not played the original. Horror games are normally not my thing. Is it nice to watch someone how knows the original and are 1) viewing it as objetic as you can - as you are saying that the dialogue in the gravyard are not bad. But you prefer the original - and how are 2) Not making a speedrun or running from one part to the other. Yes! I really like that you are exploring every detail and having a really slow playthrough. Becouse I have seen so many more stuff than in any other playthrough that I have looked at during the last week. I theirfore going to have a really nice time watching all your epiosdes of this game.
Hell yes Nub, i cant wait to see how they handle the letter at the end of the game. I just cant see the voice acting panning out better than it did in the original. Big ups to you Nub.
Huuuge shoes to fill for sure. Not many things in this world can consistently make me cry, but monica taylor horgan's read of that full letter gets me EVERY time
The best person to be playing this game! Finally someone who knows SH2 lore. I am tired of seeing Fortnite boys try the Remake and complain about the "clunky combat". I'd like to see YOU gamer boy, facing against a SH moster with a stick. :>
3:58:00 was the "they don't stink" barrier note referring to the sheets on the big wall and not the lying figure possibly? They are hospital bedsheets right so they must be sterile lol
Interesting, your beginning approach is different than mine 🙂. I start the game with default settings and check options out later. …well, I say “interesting,” interesting to me anyway lol
Wanted to come on here before the hate mob comes but I do love the direction this game and the developers took with this artwork. The only thing that bothers me for now is how odd reflections look in puddles but everything else chef's kiss
Did not know this was already here! Going to be great watching this, like all your playthroughs I'm sure this is a treat. Still pissed they don't actually focus on "remaking" games that could actually use some QoL or other improvements like idk; SH1 and SH4 come to my mind atleast. I don't think SH2 or 3 need any more improvement, visuals to story everything is great.
Did you miss the pharmacy this time round? I know very minor outside of the note and I could be wrong as I working whilst listening but I didn’t hear you speak about it other than you couldn’t get in yet? Great play through though really enjoyed your perspective
I did miss it - I somehow checked everything in the apartments next door except for the door that goes into the pharmacy. Oh well, something to do on NG+ lol.
Hey Nub! I'm coming to leave a like and comment for the algorithm, but I'm not watching the video because I want to play it blind someday. Nevertheless I do want to ask your opinion because it's the one I respect the most regarding Silent Hill. Is it worth it, is it good?
I have never heard of anyone superglueing a record back together and i have worked in a record store for five years. The split in the vinyl would likely damage the needle but even besides that there is glue all over the grooves surrounding the split that would both make the music during those sections inaudible and also gunk up the needle. Like dog wtf
Gameplay starts at 14:50
Feel better, Nub.
"Get Good" 😄
This is so exciting! I wish my brother was here to witness this. He was the one who got me into the series! Miss you, bro!

I've just finished the game on PC and I gotta say, if this is the actual graphics on a PS5 console - I'm glad I bought it on PC. Because this looks like the original, compared to the PC version. I know how much of a fan of the game you are, please please please try it on PC.
This playthrough IS on PC.
@@Nubzombie really? I'm sorry, maybe it's a YT thing but my graphic settings were miles up.
It's probably the video compression - remember this is being broadcast onto twitch, which has a maximum bitrate cap of 6000 Kbps and 1080p/60fps video quality.
Obviously it looks better when you are just playing it on your own machine directly.
@@Nubzombie yes makes sense. Anyway thank you for the hours of quality content in the office
So excited for this !! Even if the game sucks.
It doesn’t suck. Most tense and scared I’ve ever been playing a horror game. Masterpiece
Happy Burger was in SH2 original, you just couldn't go inside, same location. They changed the health drink labels! I like the Bar Neely's matches though!
Yup, I double checked after the stream, but SH1 had Queen Burger and Konami Burger, SH2 and SH3 had Happy Burger!
With how long he’s walking around with low health he’s getting In Water for sure lol
Thanks for the playthrough! :)
Original title - SIlent Hill 2: Born From A Wish
Remake - Silent Hill 2: Car Thief Simulator
I find it so hilarious you can just smash every single car window in the game with a specific melee animation, it's the most unintentionally funny thing they could've done to the franchise
Tune in 3 years from now to play Silent Hil 3: Shoplift Simulator
Omg. Lmaoooooo 😂😂😂😂
Yooooo can you please make all these parts into one long ass video when it’s done please?
7:53 the amount of accessibility is quite a bit, while I will definitely not use most of them. I do appreciate that they are included. Moreover, speed running will definitely utilize the high contrast mode.
I will comback to watch this later after my playthrough. but tell me Nubzombie, is it good? bloober team did it?
not very far yet, but so far its pretty good.
Dictionary of Demlings, I love it
As much as I am absolutely loving this remake, I’m about 10 hours in, there are some things I would love to see implemented: variable walking speed, a zoom function maybe hold R3, more fog around James feels like he has a fog force field, some graphical hiccups and tidying up visually especially reflections I’ve seen some doors and windows spazzing the fuck out yo, that sheen on James’ hair ruins the immersion sometimes for me, the guns feel a bit robotic would be cool if James could miss a shot here and there or struggle to reload his gun under pressure or something, tank controls and fixed camera angle setting would be insane as well imagine that, anyone got any other suggestions?
Alright. As it's freday evaning in sweden. So have I time to make a comment on the first part of this playthrough. And for someone how have not played the original. Horror games are normally not my thing. Is it nice to watch someone how knows the original and are
1) viewing it as objetic as you can - as you are saying that the dialogue in the gravyard are not bad.
A remake of The Room adresing some of the issues with the OG gameplay would be really cool.
Would love to hear your review on this game
Hell yes Nub, i cant wait to see how they handle the letter at the end of the game. I just cant see the voice acting panning out better than it did in the original. Big ups to you Nub.
Huuuge shoes to fill for sure. Not many things in this world can consistently make me cry, but monica taylor horgan's read of that full letter gets me EVERY time
The dodge man it’s a souls like… lol jk the 90s filter feels like the way to go it completely changes the vibe.
The best person to be playing this game! Finally someone who knows SH2 lore. I am tired of seeing Fortnite boys try the Remake and complain about the "clunky combat". I'd like to see YOU gamer boy, facing against a SH moster with a stick. :>
Now that i ended the remake, im going to watch you play this! Interested to know your opinions! I personally loved the game!
3:58:00 was the "they don't stink" barrier note referring to the sheets on the big wall and not the lying figure possibly? They are hospital bedsheets right so they must be sterile lol
Omggg I was waiting for you to play thiss!!
It may look better on higher end PC's with ray tracing enabled - mine is disabled to help maintain higher framerate on my 3060ti.
@@Nubzombie That maybe the case. I am holding out hope of a patch to fix that
They’re already here. Just ignore them, their opinions will get lost in the vapor. Game is so far, critically acclaimed
@@stonecold-i7c TAA is a terrible filter. SMAA is king, but FXAA is still good enough and less demanding.
that slow burn playthrough though 👌🏻
Thanks for uploading man ❤️
Did not know this was already here!
What happened to Dusty AKA Fungo? did he retire? I hope he's okay, So happy to see you enjoying this remake nub
Sounds about right but OG Silent Hill 2 puzzles are similar, many of them wouldn't function in the real world.
Yesss! Here we go everyone
