I've always been so interested in Thriller and all of it's filming locations. It's so fantastic that someone finally tracked the spot down! It's crazy to think how many people probably walked this trail, not knowing it's significance.
I can tell you, there were many people hiking that day and not one stopped to ask what I was doing lol. So if it's gone unknown for 40 years, no telling lol
@@explorewithtao i was in hollywood yesterday and we wondered where the house was that Thriller was filmed. i believe it was universal studios, but wasn't sure. wonderful work - thank you!
I was just saying, nobody has every covered this part...and i was just looking to see if anybody has covered it yet...and i ran into your video...Thank you
Wow. Real Cool. By Deductive Reasoning, You Can Come to The Conclusion that The Director Would Not Choose the First Site As It Is a Main Vein for Car Travel. The Exact Location is Less Traveled by Vehicles, Meaning that One Has More Ability to Control the Shoot. The Thriller Video is Incredible.
Excellent find. I subscribed to your channel. The question I have is how do I find the actual location spot of the opening scene of Thriller after I enter Griffith Park using Google maps ?
@@explorewithtao i was at the Palace Theater door last year, my first time in L.A.,amazing feeling. I just realized reading a Vanity Fair article that the premiere took place at Crest Theater and that Prince (another fav of mine) was there!! i search for pics but anything is out there, just that he was there among other stars, amazing.
The interior shots for the theater scenes were filmed inside the Rialto Theater in South Pasadena! Also, the Pasadena Civic Auditorium (Not far from the Rialto) is where MJ did the Moonwalker for the first time
I love that you found the opening scene for thriller……….but in 1986 there was a movie called night of the creeps it kind of reminds me of thriller especially in the opening scene for it but especially there is also a scene in the beginning where the sees meteor fall from the sky and they drive away well when they leave from looking over the city the shot where they drive down the road is I think the same exact shot where thriller was filmed………I can show you what I’m talking about but you have to put it exactly how I put it but here it is type in “ night of the creeps 1986 directors cut comedy flick axe at the car” type that in and watch it entirely and you’ll see what I mean …..and if you line the tow car scenes up perfectly they’re identical
Are you ready for a surprise? Not only is that the location for Thriller opening scene, but that's the EXACT spot where they shot that scene for Night of the Creeps, lol 😆🤟🏾
The crazy thing is, if you watch the scene, it looks like there are lamp posts in the background, but in reality, they just used flood lights to light up the scene. At night it's pitch black
I'm not certain because looking at this scene, they had to have a cart/rail with a camera attached, and I looked like they could've filmed it by the road where this scene took place.
Thank you for finding this location. RIP The King of MUSIC!
No problem at all. A little piece of history recovered 😌👍🏾🙏🏾
That was scary at the end, but I should have expected it 😭🤣! You just may have a new subscriber here!
Great job!! I'm such a huge fan of thriller and Michael and Halloween! Thank you for taking the time to find this opening scene

I want to visit this location 😢
Hey can you do the filming location part where Michael and his date were walking down that dark alley where Michael was singing thriller
Ohhh and also the chase scene where Michael (the werecat) chases his date through the woods lol
I'm not certain because looking at this scene, they had to have a cart/rail with a camera attached, and I looked like they could've filmed it by the road where this scene took place.
That was filmed on the same street right by the dance scenes. They just kept using the same streets and made it look like a longer street
I couldn't watch the entire video until I was like 13 yrs old
