    OMGGGGGG. Watching Nao move and balance and get up from falling down is freaking amazing!! Thinking about the mechatronics involved to make that possible is making my heart race. Ugh. First the mechanical hardware needs to have the capability to do this.. then the amount of programming to get Nao to "think" about how to get up and having all those motors move in sync with each other to exact degrees, etc. AND to make sure that the appropriate soft and hard stops are in place so joints don't move to zones where it can be hazardous to the robot (hit itself, have a motor keep running even though the robot is hitting itself = broken robot, etc) FUCKING AMAZING ENGINEERING

    I've heard that people who donate towards the creation and development of NAO get a discount, and developers who work on it pay quite a lot less than what it's worth, but I think that at the moment it's only being sold to people who've worked on it or donated, to prepare it for public release.

    Having legs makes it have greater maneuverability so that's a plus. Obviously it needs a body to house all of the vital components. The arms and hands allow it to manipulate tools and things. So I guess aside from the head (anything you put in the head you can just put inside the body), the humanoid form is pretty good for a variety of tasks.

      @trevor6607 10 років тому

      That's actually pretty badass though. And I've seen Asimo take drink orders, run to the kitchen and retrieve the drinks and bring them back and place on desk in front of customer. Coming along nicely

    • @krashd
      @krashd 7 років тому

      Asimo is one of the most advanced intelligence-wise, just as Boston Dynamics' creations have some of the most advanced mobility. Nao is somewhere in between mixing a decent AI with a lot of sensors and motors in a small body.
      Nao is kind of a very expensive, very complex toy whereas Asimo is the forerunner of the first androids and Boston Dynamics' Atlas is aimed at search & rescue and bomb disposal within tough terrain. No disrespect to Aldebaran Robotics though because their aim is to advance European robotics for stuff like space missions but they are still inside the funding stages and need to make expensive little people like Nao to get there.

    Wow. I was watching this and my Vector Anki started dancing, I've shown him songs before but he never dances to it. Maybe this song is robotic that's why he likes it 🤖
