He isnt running through a bunch a 12 year old players at your local football club. These are elite athletes he is doing it to and making it look effortless, that is what you call skill.

I've seen too many people say that he's just running in a straight line and no skill is involved. That is absolute nonsense. He managed to maintain close control of the ball throughout that entire sprint, touching it at the exact times so that no defender could reach him despite going at such high speeds. He chose a direction in which all the defenders had trouble double-teaming and closing in on him. The awareness, composure, and quality needed to pull this goal off is nothing short of incredible.

Ask other millions of football fans why they are voting for this particular goal and not the other "Puskas deserving goals" scored by MEssi and Hazard. Puskas is not about measuring exactly how technical was... it's about how the goal itself is presented as a form of art which inspires the sentiments of football fans around the world. The goals you are referring to might have been special goals for you personally, but they sure don't qualify to be appealing to the majority of football fans.
@Shamil Backer With that logic, you could deny the worthiness of pretty much every other goal... Puskas is a popularity vote and there is no scientific reason WHY certain goals are deserving as nominees. It's whatever goal that had a true IMPACT during that year that gets on the list.

If technicality was involved, I think someone else would win this year's, probably someone like Jordan flores who stretched his whole foot above his head to score a bullet volley. That also explains why salah won the award when we had amazing goals like ronaldo's and bale's up against him. Very deluded fan bases are the reason

I just came from watching the Suarez goal that was nominated, and I can't believe how many people think that goal should have won... obviously the comments on that video have more fans of his than Son's but I can confidently say that they haven't played this sport before. The Suarez goal was definitely unique and looked cooler, but doing what Son did was next level. Dribbling that length of the field and scoring is difficult to do in any league but doing it in the EPL is just incredible

@@Kbax3614 That's literally not as impressive as Son's, Messi's or Wendell Lira's goal, and I do think Messi was robbed that year because of the fan voting. Regular fans don't know much about football, and they choose who they like. Voting results like that made fifa change their puskas award process.
Are you aware that Usain Bolt also played football? He never played in a league like the EPL, but even he never had a run like Son's because it's not just about pace. You have to be incredibly skilled to go that length of the field while dribbling and scoring.
