For the first Wednesday, Dylan, Tommy and I met up with Mikey and Asa (and coincidentally a few other enthusiasts) at the infamous Hudson P-50/T-135AC. This particular one probably has more recordings than any other P-50 out there, but we decided to come here anyway because word on the street is that this is one of the loudest P-50s out there. They were about 4 minutes late with testing this month, but I knew the second I heard the clank of the contactor that it was go-time.
The very first time this beast faced me, I was absolutely gobsmacked to see my meter hit 120.8 dBC from over 400 feet away! From there, I made my way over to the dirt mound next to it, which puts you on about 20-ish feet of elevation. From the top of the dirt mound, I got a max reading of 126 (Tommy got 124.3 dBA), and I felt the sound throughout the ground and my whole body every time it faced me. For a brief moment, I lifted off the left side of my hearing protection when it faced me...and to say that this thing is loud is an understatement. After the test, my left ear felt a bit sore just from that 5 seconds of exposure. Anyway, I think it's safe to say this takes the cake for the loudest siren I've ever heard. Enjoy!

Great video mate! P50s/T-135s are very powerful sirens, definetley up there in the higher steps of the ladder to other sirens.
They literally are the second most powerful siren ever and the most powerful electromechanical siren so yes obviously they are up there

Nah, this one is louder. Even Mitchell and Holly said that after experiencing this one. Morrison might be close though.
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfan Hmm, interesting. Also I would like to confirm if it is rotating backwards even though it is properly wired? It appears that the rotation arrows point in the opposite direction than it was rotating.
@@raizrindustries You mean the chopper looks like it's spinning the wrong way? That's an illusion from the camera's frame rate. Since the video is 60 FPS and the chopper is spinning at slightly less than 60 rotations per second, it looks like it's spinning the opposite direction from what it actually is. But it is indeed properly wired, although it used to be reversed.
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfan Ah, okay. I had thought the arrows on each side of the rotation sticker on the projector were to tell which direction the head of the siren rotates like the Allertor and the other penetrator series sirens. But that makes sense on why the chopper would appear to spin backwards.
@raizrindustries Oh, you meant the rotator. P-50 rotators can run in either direction because the rotator uses a separate motor from the chopper, unlike on an Allertor or P-10/15.

Nice catch, looks like the screen has partially come off, I wonder if that might be what's causing that slight warble effect.
Also, how close is that mound to the siren?
The mound is probably around 100 feet from the siren, give or take. Also, that warbling sound you hear is the fiberglass projector rattling and flexing from the immense sound pressure. You can hear something similar from many other P-50s, although it's particularly noticeable with this one.
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfan Ah very interesting, I guess it depends on weather conditions on how much db you would pick up, such as wind. I reckon if you were right at the horn you might reach 150-160 decibels, where, aside from obvious instant hearing damage/deafness you’d experience physical issues such as vertigo, nausea, and balance issues, I’m not interested to find out though.
Also that makes sense that it’s the shroud/projector vibrating, I’ve wondered what it was for years. On some videos you can actually see the projector shroud vibrating so it’s no wonder you’d hear that, no doubt that’s why older P-50s/T-135s have holes in them.

That looks and sounds like a P-50
It's basically the same thing. When ACA became ASC, they changed the name of the P-50 to the T-135 AC. Later on, it was succeeded by the T-135 AC/DC, which looks more like a T-128 with a bigger horn, and is probably what you typically think of when you hear "T-135".
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfan it's kinda like the FS Equinox. The same exact thing but the ports are the same as a 508 on the Equinox.
