love Empire files, but i don't think we should draw conclusions from hanging pictures of certain dictators in their exercise setups. the military gung-ho types have a sense of humour, i'm sure there are all sorts of 'bad guy' portraits hung up on these exercises mostly just for a hoo-rah, semper fi, type chuckles.

But with guys like Kim Jong-un and his family before him, you can be pretty sure they are complete elitist wealth hoarding cultist monsters, on a scale greater than our own oligarchy, because they directly own and kill with impunity their own people, intentionally keeping them simple minded. As for my evidence thereof, there is propaganda that comes out of NK which has a distinct childish brainwash aspect to it, specifically the worship of their fat spoiled child of a leader as some sort of demi-god, and over many decades we have escaped North koreans who tell their tale, and we have numerous human rights watch groups, many unaffiliated with government who record and observe likewise.
So yes, dictators do exist. and NK's dictator represents among the very worst our planet has to offer. US foreign policy is grotesque too, but at least we can, so far, still speak out about it, condemn it, and in very small scale affect change, all while living our lives generally free of terror and ground zero subsistence survival.

"bad guy dictator"? They have you indoctrinated too, friend..and I say that respectfully. Everything we "learn" about North Korea is grossly exaggerated at best, or outright lies at worst. North Korea, while being poor, do to a near centuries of insane sanctions, and being cut off from the global economy, (world bank, IMF) has a much happier, healthier, population than us in the "richest freest" in the world..the "dictator", "authoritarian", "totalitarian" stuff is completely overblown, especially when looking at it through our "western liberal democracy" biases and chauvinism.. and how can you judge thier style of government while ours is becoming the very thing you accuse them of being. We are now increasingly becoming a "inverted totalitarianism, or corporate coup d'etat" as Hedges calls it, a police and surveillance state, a permanent war state, largest health issues (physical and mental), gun violence, prison population, silencing and even torturing and killing of any legitimate dissent that threatens power, (Assange, Manning, Hale, Snowden, Shireen Abu Aqleh, Kashoggi etc) I can go on and on, but our precious "democracy", (which it's not. It's a constitutional republic) has failed, and is dying an agonizing death, and is a danger to the planet.
Who's the true "authoritarian dictator", the person who is trying to keep his country independent, and free of the rotten capitalist, global imperial war machine, that already cost him half of his beloved home country, and only wishes for reunification, not to take over the world, or the unipolar hegemon that is trying to kill any multipolar world being "born in the cradle", as they were quoted as attempted early in the cold war against Korea and others?

As someone who's actually been in the infantry I can say that this is pretty standard training for house clearing.
It's not very inventive training or what I would call effective but this is pretty standard.
The pictures of Un and Il I see as simple decoration for the OP4 (Oppositional force) houses. Doesn't really mean much of anything, especially with the rubber AK on the table. This house is kind of all over the place (geographically speaking) in terms of design.
My question was what dumbass NCO thought it would be cool to have an entire squad take turns shooting into a window at nothing. Also, hanging out in doorways is a big no-no. It's called a killbox for a reason. Either way this seems like standard room clearance training, but this doesn't seem effective at all.
Our military isn't anywhere close to being ready to fight a real army.
Unless there's actual troop movement this seems like a big nothing burger. That being said, I respect the hell out of you Abby. Your work and voice are important. Keep it up.
I would agree with you if it wasn't two(at least) different rooms that had the exact same Kims. It's clearly urban ops in the DPRK.

for the record. those are not US troops. not sure what country. but they are using Steyr AUG's. it is an Austrian AR bullpup design (magazine feeds behind receiver instead of in front) but it is a NATO weapon firing 5.56x45 mm rounds. the US does NOT use this weapon.
Right a lot of different countries participating in RIMPAC went thru this training scenario, it is on a US base so US troops use it usually

Last time the US poked at North Korea we got to meet the red army head on with devastating consequences. Why do we think that is different now? China and the red army are too vast for the US to wage a victorious conflict against and said victory could only be achieved with WMDs, we should all be very concerned…

@@punapeter I mean a lot of things would need to happen for USA to go straight for Korea. What do they gain from invading Korea in the first place? North Korea is dormant. I feel like their main focus in that region will always be China.
Make no mistake, they still have North Korea in their targets for 70 years since the Korean war... as if the war didn't do enough damage, a near century worth of sanctions, blockades, hostility, etc...so even if their is no full scale invasion or bombing any time soon, the fact it's always on the table and could take an ugly turn at any moment should be concerning to everyone...and now with growing tensions with Russia, China, Iran, along with BRICS continuing to gain steam and countries will see them as a viable option over US hegemony, desperation mode is kicking in, and empires always lash out when they are dying.

I know that looks horrible but to be fair, training officers and NCOs do shit like that all the time. I raided buildings with the Kim’s pictures on walls and targets, I’ve shot at targets that were specifically brown men in Arab dress, I’ve raided buildings with Bin Laden’s and Hussein’s as well. The pics are more than likely just put up by some training sergeant. It is an entire different discussion we need to have about us training our soldiers to shoot at only brown targets as well as patrol sergeants telling us dead men tell no tales before we would start our shift…
