Spartanburg was was the first city in SC to be named a bicycle friendly city by the American Bicyclist Association. The yellow plaque behind you at 8:14 is part of the Spartanburg Music Trail, plaques placed throughout the downtown area honoring notable musicians from Spartanburg. Spartanburg’s downtown is anticipated to receive an economic boost within the next few years with the construction of a baseball stadium and mixed use development. This will be the largest such project in the city’s history.

A few things you probably didn’t know about Spartanburg. It has one of the oldest law firms in the US, est 1825, it has what some believe is one of the largest cemetery monuments in the US, the Wonder of Life monument, it is where the first college football game in SC was played, the words of the song Amazing Grace were set to music, the British band Pink Floyd got the Pink part of their name from a Spartanburg musician, Martin Luther King’s uncle was once pastor of a church in Spartanburg . The inventor of the pc modem was a native of Spartanburg. Fowler Brothers cleaners of Spartanburg has been the official cleaners of the Carolina Panthers uniforms.
how far is that from spartanburg? we are considering staying in the greenville area...looked at compobello but its to far from greenville. havent been to spartanburg at my last visit. would like to stay open minded😊
Spartanburg has a rich history with NASCAR and there is a UA-cam video about it called The Town NASCAR Forgot. The Talladega Raceway was originally going to be built in Spartanburg and the is a UA-cam video about the Spartanburg-Talladega connection.
Would you rather have a rich, Liberal from a southern state or a working class conservative Christian from a northern state? Cause somebody is going to be filling up those homes for sale. Lol
This video is amazing. We are interested in moving from Atlanta. Could you do a video about Spartanburt and some of the best public and charter schools, and also Christian schools and maybe show their locations. And also I am interested in seeing some homes in golf communities, what do they look like, also some homes with land. Thanks, Mary
That's a lot Mary! I've got many more vidoes in production, I'll try and make sure I cover some of that as well. If you can't wait, I'd be happy to chat and even send pictures/videos from specific neighborhoods.
My name is Jimmy cater old name Jimmy Seay use to go to Jess Bo Bo school I grow up around the fair ground off hayne street. Great Video. Still love this place . Even though I live else we’re this is my hometown. 😊😊😊 thanks love your video
Nice...any "homecare/Hospice/Long Term-Geriatric nursing jobs for nurses out there? I'm from Albany NY...I want to leave the northeast now. Someone give me a 'shout'.
I'm sure there are. I have a friend that does geriatric care in home, long term. She's considering starting a business, but I don't think she's there yet.
You may or may not like it. After 3 months I knew it had nothing for me. Work wise the pay is garbage, the cost of living isn’t great, the people are fine, they just don’t want to know you or want you here, but they’ll be polite about it. There’s crime, but it seems to be mostly in certain areas. As far as goods and services or construction, people here will hire the cheapest person even if it bites them. I’m still trying to figure out what makes them tick here, I guess family. The fishing is awful unless you don’t know any better. You need to rent here before buying, because there’s a chance I am right and you will hate it. Oh and expect to pay big time at the dmv if you bring car here, there’s a mandatory $250 fee for that plus property taxes on it then the registration. I am 100 percent va disabled and they tell you you’re tax exempt, but you have to jump through hoops, instead of them just looking at the letter of proof you have in hand. Then they deny that because you’re not 100 percent permanent and total, total bs just to seem pro veteran. I ended up paying over 2500 to register two cars and a trailer. Most people here I imagine lie about the value of these autos and trailers, but I don’t believe that is moral. Remember when you watch these videos, you’re watching a video from somebody who makes money off selling houses in that area. Is it beautiful here, yeah it pretty, in the fall and spring, winters are gloomy and cold. It’s affordable for a reason, do your due diligence or you’ll get stuck somewhere that has nothing for you.
