A great tribute to him and the people who love him. Life doesn’t end here what a quote.
Akash Ramesh it endet here
I remember watching that match as a child, the way we all reacted with disbelief. And then a few days later on the radio when they announced he'd been shot. I agree with what they said: football is just a game. It's a beautiful game, but it's not a matter of life and death.
You're absolutely right football is my life but it shouldn't mean death
I'm an England fan and I hope England does very well against Colombia but I just thought of an idea and that is if Colombia did Beat England and get to the final I think they should put the picture up of this player at the final for Colombia and for this player
It's Colombia, not Columbia. Not a single 'u'.
Great idea, though... that year Brazil dedicated their World Cup victory to Ayrton Senna , who'd died six weeks or so prior to the tournament.
Sebas Tian another great champion also
The only Escobar I feel proud as Colombian 😢🇨🇴
Put some respect on Pablo escobars name..he was a legend

You're still a hero in Colombia Andres. It's a shame that some drug dealer got egoistic just because you stood up for yourself against his insults.
No one in their right mind would shoot you because of the own goal. We loved you before and we still love you to this day.

You know what I am Colombian and my whole family is and this breaks my heart makes me scared to play for the Colombian nation team

A powerful message from a player loved by millions
He is a hero for Colombia. I will remember him in my heart. May he rest in peace
I think it would be fitting to also include some of the beautiful moments he and his team had, they played some amazing football and scored some incredible (team)goals
It’s been 24 years and it’s still a major stain in our history.
I live in New York and I get the same comments to these day... “ I hope they don’t kill the guy who missed the penalty” .... “ that guy who got the red card against Japan is dead as soon as he’s back”
That was a dark time in our Colombian history and I accept the fact that as a nation there’s still some room for improvement but stuff like what happened to Andres Escobar it’s becoming rare. We all love our players , we cheer for them no matter what.
Nah,,,,, we still hating look what happened to James Rodriguez after todo Lo que nos dio…
Amo a mi país y a mi gente pero me avergüenza lo que hacemos a la gente que nos da tanta felicidad.
Well done FIFATV

RIP Andrés Escobar Saldarriaga "the gentleman of soccer" forever in ♥️♥️♥️.
The same people who talked shit about Escobar for the own goal, were probably the same people pretending to be sad when he was killed.
Talking shit back in the 90s wasn't so toxic compared to these days
Tora Chan thats how this world works☺
Tora Chan
Of course you stupid idiot, if somebody scores an own goal you would be mad and talk shit about him but of course you don't want him to die, don't you understand that ?
Guelll Toens hope bacca doesn’t get shot for missing the penalty.
Richard Hawkes I hated that whole Colombian squad for the way they played that match but I hope they’re welcomed back positively when they return home. Best of luck to them for 2022 🏴🇨🇴
Remembering this gentleman in 2018!
Muy lindo, gracias por el homenaje a Andres

just disgraceful.Only an own goal & you took someone's life?
More too it than that, drug cartels betted millions, then hired a hitman on escobar.
Well it's not just football ; it's life and death

They had Valderrama, Asprilla, Freddy Rincón, real class players.
3 sad and heartbreaking events/things in that world cup: -the assassination of escobar.
-maradona's expulsion of the tournament
-roberto baggio's missed penalty
The man that killed him only served 11 years in prison. Can you imagine that? Spending 11 years in prison for killing someone? That's nothing.

Who’s here during Copa América 2024? Columbia is playing great.
Had he been alive today.....he would've been a manager of some club or even the national team :(
That's actually one of the saddest parts of the story. Andres was scheduled to meet with the owners of AC Milan after the World Cup because they were interested in signing him. Back in the late 80s, early 90s, AC Milan was the top club in the world. Andres was actually concerned that AC Milan had lost interest in him because of his own goal, but they were still keen on signing him. Maturana, Colombia's coach concerned about the death threats recommended Andres to stay in the U.S. and vacation with his family before heading out to Milan. Instead he chose to go to Colombia, and there he met his demise.
@@danielaldana818 wow! I didn’t know anything you’re telling us about, that’s truly heartbreaking. And I think he should have fallowed that piece of advice that under those circumstances made a lot of sense, and stay at the States for a while until things calmed down. And yes he should have travel straight to Milan from the USA but who would’ve known. Too late and too sad. Thank you
Great sportsman,
God bless his sole. He was a real gentleman
I love colombia but i feel shame of our history, sadly we still live violent times in this country
I was at the game he scored the own goal at in 94 at the Rose Bowl against the USA and the one against Romania. I was just a kid and it was crazy to me to hear that he was killed when he got home. So senseless.
I was at all the Colombian games! So sad :(
The look on Rincon's face at 1:54.
Never forgotten Escobar, always in football fans minds. John from Scotland UK.
We will never forget him
I remember this goal, I was thinking right after the goal, some people are going to hurt him for that. Didn't see the killing coming, but I thought someone will beat him or something. I'm a Finn, but I've seen enough of Latin temper, and football crazy people from Latin America. Like the Brasilian guy who jumped through the window to his death after they lost the final to Uruguay.
On the other hand, if Escobar believed in God, his words are prophetically true:
- Life doesn't end here.
I hope he's in Heaven now. Then he won't hold grudge to his killer. There peple are free from such thoughts. Hope the killer has found God, or will. MAy Jesus help him.
Vayate con Dios.

Soccer or football is just a sport. Life is more important than that. Our family is more important than any other thing.
Colombia will never go anywhere close to this 2018 worldcup bcos of the sin committed against Escobar and his family. It's a pain they will always remember in time like this.
He should be a legend card in fifa ultimate team

End? No the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey-rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turn to silver glass, and then you see it.

Really really really sad
Colombian fans say that national team players were overconfident. The truth is almost the whole country were overconfident; People on the streets said that Colombia was the best football team on the planet. They also took for granted that the Tricolor was going to be world champions in 1994. The only doubt that Colombian fans had was what was going to be the opponent that Colombia would easily beat in the final. The same unjustified triumphalism is currently maintained.
True, we see this all the time in fotball.
Andrés Escobar was the greatest defender in Colombian soccer. Can’t believe he was murdered by those bad peeps
I remember the day he was pronounced dead, very sad day for football. Wonder why a man would be killed for an unintentional mistake. Surely
something like this would never ever happen again in the football world
Mistakes happen
And this time it costed an innocent man his life.
R.I.P Escobar.
Viva Colombia!
Colombia is a country I will always be very proud of.
Soccer in here has a very different social context than in other countries, entire families depend on positive match results at the World Cup to improve their life, or even to be able to get a small income to get by finantially and survive. In other countries they just win to prove their ego is enormous and that they are supposedly "the best in the world"; of course I'm not implying that the Colombia players don't try to prove their top quality in the game - the point is that the context of the World Cup is very different from country to country.
Although violence has been a part of its social and political history, the recent Peace Agreement has improved things, and along with a lot of hard work and support from other countries, the Colombian society will keep improving, so please stop any ranting and support Colombia, heck, even pay a visit and you will be well received in here! ;)
Much Love to All!
Feeling very bad for him rip
This was the best national team in the world at the time. Andres.
RIP from🇬🇧
Tragic. I remember being shocked at the news. With England failing to qualify in 94 I supported Colombia for this World Cup. Colourful and full of flair at the time. They looked a real candidate to go and win the World Cup after a scintillating qualifying campaign and good results in warm up matches. I think the Romania loss took too much out of the players. Especially that freak goal by Hagi. Colombia tried and tried in that match with loads of possession but somehow that goal by Hagi had a profound effect and you just felt nothing was going to go right for Colombia
RIP
Mistakes are bound to happen. Its more important that you stood for your Nation. Shame on those who took his life. Its a game and one should enjoy it. Nobody has the right to take one's life.

@@xXxFokingNxXx no ya estaba planeado en asesinarlo solo esperaban esta circumstancia de la discusion para llevar a cabo este macabro acto

Italian striker Roberto Baggio of the 1994 world cup final, when his sudden death penalty shot missed the net completely, he lived to play football for another few yrs and coach as well. Had he been Colombian, his life would have ended within 1 yr. Seriously though when grand superstars like current Soccer star Megan Rapinoe has a Penalty Kick to take , and she knows the opposing goalie has watched all her videos and knows where she is most likely to kick it,,,,as the kicker you got to kick left corner low when the goalie expect left corner high or vice versa. Had Baggio thought along those lines, then Italy would have won the 1994 World Cup...But Brazil of 1994 was still dam awesome.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
