I used to listen to R&B all the time in the 90’s. There were so many talented producers back then.
Top 3 for me are Teddy Riley, Babyface and Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam. Prince was one of a kind for his own right. No one could imitate his sounds. After them, I really liked the music of Chuckii Booker. He was also one of the genius producers. Lastly I am still a big fan of Kenny Greene from Intro. Very sad that some of them are no longer with us.

The feeling back then was sooo different. I was in Middle School. Slleeping at night, waiting to hit on my crushes as a white dude in Brentwood NY. I got up, the music, the clothese, the essense. Later on I got that, but this was an era you cant mess with. I wouldnt change for anything. Now way!!! It was charged and nostalgic. The energy was different. Being Down was different as well. God Damn!!! Pants saggin, nice shirts, being down was what was up!! Music now is garbage as far as hip hop goes. I love the older hiphop and rock days. I do it all. I miss my earlier days. The days before autotune BS. Id rather be 100 years old then live in a newer era. No way! Kids dont get it nowadays. No Heavy D? No Pac, No great movies? Even shows on tv?! Hot 97? Oh God! Id kill to go back. The feeling was just right there. A beautiful essense. No cell phones, no internet, just madd love for the music, Looking, smelling, and feeling good. What happened?!

This song is incredibly romantic, especially for a New Jack Swing rap song. Teddy Riley makes the BEST samples. He takes the best elements (melody, bass line, strings) and adds beats and very little percussion. He keeps the original special. This song will always have a place in my heart. And Heavy’s delivery is perfect.
