the reason there's not as many compilations of fgc players throwing pads when we lose, is because of 2 things 1. it's way less aerodynamic and super bulky so not as satisfying to throw and harder to throw 2. shit costs like $300 and if you got a mix/hitbox or another stick like that where they ship from asia and you gotta wait 300 months for that shit and the fgc broke as fuck as is? aww hell nah I hope people wouldn't throw their sticks whereas with pads 1. they can go flying and get good bounce, in the right hands which can be satisfying for someone in that moment 2. They cost way less being between $50-$70 instead of a few hundred
Gamecube controllers cost a lot for pros, but generally not beyond $300 and generally produced in America so it does not take as long to get. Also, controllers used to be hard to get at satisfactory performance because there was no one producing them and Gamecube controllers are very inconsistent.
Fun fact Aris really didn't want Noctis in Tekken 7 and was so visibly disappointed by his reveal that Harada walked over to him and said "Sorry Aris" shortly after the trailer was shown at that event. Saw Aris tell the story a while back, you can actually see the part where Harada apologizes to him on the stream lmao.
Aris' line after the reveal; "I can't tell you how excited I am..." was perfect. He didn't pretend to be hype, he didn't shit on the reveal, he didn't say anything he shouldn't, he just found the perfect line to walk the line of letting the people who know him know EXACTLY how he felt, while still plausibly seeming excited for anyone who doesn't.

The context with RIB and Tekken Tim was that RIB lent Tim the controller beforehand and talked trash before the match. Reason he threw his opponent's controller was it was actually his own.

Smash players just don't understand kayfabe. The over the top salt/matchup stuff is better when the tone is right and we are all getting better by fighting each other.
One thing you notice in these videos is that a lot of the best moments don't involve people who are at the top of the list for invitationals. This is why (hype as some invitational matches may be from time to time), the heart of the FGC is in offline, open brackets events.
I wish Crowbcat had put the video of the guy that played Bayonetta when she first launched in Smash 4, where he was being booed by the audience during the set and, when the set finished, he got off stage while flipping off the audience. Shit was toxic as hell.

I've been to tournaments for many different fighting games, Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Guilty Gear, King of Fighters and I remember going to my first Smash tournament thinking the culture would be the same across the game. I was wrong I think I re-called 7 people throwing their controllers at the event in one day. Honestly Smash players are built differently XD. Even at my locals we've got the FGC in the right side of the room and Smash on the left and the vibes couldn't so different (probably mostly down to player age). Don't get me wrong both communities have their bad eggs but yeah, things are quite different if that makes sense.
Very simple answer. Most traditional "FGC" versus fighting games started in Arcade so you're refrained from damaging the input device/cabinet (although it has happened aka bang the machine). However with Smash which started on GameCube, controllers were less than $30. As a matter of fact, people on the Consumer side (opposite of Arcade) of gaming or "console" have been wall carrying controllers into the ground since the 1970s.
There really is some kind of issue in the smash community with throwing stuff, I can't even lie lmao. I've seen it at multiple events but I haven't seen many chucked pads or sticks at the FGC events I've entered.
