9:48 Corbyn asks May a question about budget cuts. May, instead of answering the question, asks a question of her own.. WHAT THE HELL IS??? ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION ABOUT THE DAMN CUTS!!!!
Tshepo Tshotetsi Welcome to PMQs where questions are asked and different questions are answered. They've been an absolute joke for decades now. Give it a few years and it'll just be a rap battle.
Pretty similar to when interviewers say to Corbyn, do you condemn the IRA attacks... He dodges that bullet everytime, probably because he is usually the one with his finger at the trigger.
Well, considering that Labour was only in government since mid-1997, and the Tories had a large majority, and you said 'over 20 years' the Tories were in power. So why blame Labour?
It was tested and the experts told the conservatives that it was dangerous and they should use the more expensive and less flammable cladding instead. They stopped listening as soon as they said "more expensive" i assume.
This is now to be the cheap go-to buck-pass isn't it? Labour councils and government certainly seem to have played a part as did their capitulation to neoliberal voodoo, but they have not directed killer austerity.
Anne Arnold New Labour and the Blairites were Tories in disguise. They never represented the people and even ignored the people when we protested against the Iraq war. Look where that has got us!
Anne Arnold Did you vote yourself out of a pension 2017 sweetheart! You're probably one of those old labour voters who got a cheap house in the 80's when the milk snatcher was in her prime.Look at the housing crisis that has caused for Britain!
I really hate how members of the ruling party ask questions designed to allow May to make herself look good, and not to actually question her about what's going on.
It's amazing how much money and trust is invested in a group of people more concerned with increasing their popularity and continuing pointless divisionary tactics rather than tackle the issues at hand. I find this whole scene disgusting. I am ashamed that these childish pedants are supposed to be our representatives and are given platforms to throw toys from.
i am not waving the Tory flag here but labour are taking no responsibly at all for something which began under their watch using the public mood to score points really quite vile cladding of high rise buildings began under LABOUR
Richard Foleher the tories voted against a law that would require landlords and councils to take these measures to make sure nothing like this would happen
iHezza After she abolishes our human rights, she can detain and torture anyone for an unlimited length of time without needing to give a reason. You can do what you need to and follow this authoritarian leader or you can retain you humanity defend everyone's human rights regardless of financial status.
"Why isn't the fire and safety rules being upheld?" Because you made it impossible for them to do their job! May should resign and call a new election.
People flinging about the terms of marxism, communism and socialism without truly knowing what they mean so that they become removed of any clear content. The core principles of socialism are that working communities are in control of thier own lives and destiny. Extension of democracy in peoples workplace and communities. People have been eating the propoganda they have been fed on the Soviet idea of socialism etc. This is not traditional socialism in the slightest. A fairer society and an end to supporting terrorism is needed. I really hope Corbyn keeps builting the momentum at the incredible rate he has been so far and takes power sooner rather than later.
Let me give you the answer Theresa May. Private ownership of housing seeks to cut costs at every turn, giving way to bad cladding that puts human lives at risk, all for the sake of a lucky few.
The people in Grenfell should of had home insurance etc. It's not right that they get millions of £'s for nothing. Why did these people need to be toldto leave the building? Why were a lot of them on social media rather than getting down the stairs?
May is talking about 2005. That was 13 years ago. She is saying she has done NOTHING in 13 years. This kind of whatabboutery is disastrous to her leadership.
Harv Meist Was Jeremy Corbyn in power 2005? Thats her argument. Your argument makes no sense. She's been in power as home secretary since 2010. She failed to reach any one of her targets on immigration. She failed to do it now. She's even lost her mandate for hard brexit, and suddenly found a magic money tree worth £1BN to pay off the DUP to keep her in power.
Theresa may actually discussing the problems and talking about how to fix them and Corbyn just constantly trying to find ways to make May look bad. Extremely petty and a sign of a weak leader.
I'm sorry but when she says Grenfell was unimaginable many of the residents had imagined it and complained about the lack of fire safety and they were ignored.
I wish Corbyn had won. We need a National Education Service in the UK. As an English student going to Uni in Sept. I am going to be laden with £60,000 of debt! Education, Health, Energy & Infrastructure should be nationalised industries!!!
An investment? You are the one getting the benefit, not me. You want a high paying job that requires a degree then you pay for the degree. Your model of everyone getting free higher education is not sustainable, not everyone can be a high earner with a graduate career. So really all your policy is doing is taking money away from poor, working people and giving it to middle class people. Also, free education is not a right. It's privilege. Who are you to tell me I have to pay for all the things you want for free? A "right" that requires someone else's labour to provide is no right at all.
Nimble Pumpkin I think the government should pay for the right choices. I'm a engineering student finishing my masters in September. Before I have even left the door I have had 5000 in interested added onto my loan. Please tell me how this is fair ? And why should I even stay here and contribute due to competitive salaries being as little as 20-25 k per year with slow progression and not a guaranteed position. If they want to keep skilled workers like my self they best start treating us like it. If your doing an arts degree I mean really why are you at university ? That's where I agree with you.
It's fair because you made the choice to go to uni, nobody else. You knew the terms of the agreement and you signed up to it of your own accord. You want other people to pay for your own choices, how is that fair? If I sign up for a mortgage that I can't afford to pay, would it be fair for me to demand your tax money pays it for me? Of course not, yet that's exactly what you are doing with your student debt.
I would prefer if the money I pay them went to both parties actually working together to come up with solutions instead of having a school yard argument and just yelling at each other with their fingers in their ears when each tries to say something
The first case of tower blocks being clad in untested materials began in 1984, not under Blair as May suggested. She told her loyal sheep an outright lie.
I love how it is titled "Theresa May to face Jeremy Corbyn" - face him *claps* Also the cut straight to Jeremy Corbyn...BBC is becoming so biased these days and it will be their downfall
Kyle Willey .. your only just noticing this.. especially during last year where they focued on sceens where David Cameron looked good while make Jeremy corbyn look bad.
Kyle Willey are you serious, Theresa May is an absolute embarrassment to the United Kingdom. She can't string sentences together under pressure, sounds like a CD skipping. Get yourself a pair of glasses.
Her coalition with the dup proves that she's not pm for the well being of the country but just for power and that she is prepared to do anything to hold onto it.
Recladding the whole country will cost a pretty penny. Someone will make a fortune - probably the same people who should be locked up for the situation in the first place.
If corbyn could acheive anything it would be to finally put into law criminal liability for all civil servants for negligence and abuse of the vulnerable, blind, and elderley in our society. Its been too long that those working in the public domain who have escaped criminal liability, not be held accountable for Hillsbough grenfell tower, abuse of the blind children and adults of UK citizens.
Corbyn is getting his ass kicked in this badly. While he is spitting out left wing hate speech TM is actually throwing it right back at him while retaining respectability
May said the cladding of tower blocks began under Tony Blair’s government. But this is not true. It actually began under Thatcher’s, in 1984 and Also, in 1986, Thatcher’s government changed building regulations surrounding materials used on the outside of buildings. And these alterations meant that anything used did not have to be non-combustible. This meant flammable materials could legally be used to clad tower blocks.
William oscer garvin: And this is why it comes to the point where they even hated the system they were living on But what do you people think do you think you like the system or do you not really think it's good enough for everybody to get help or not Give me your answers and questions
I am US citizen, and I watch PMQs and FMQs and other countries'political goings-on to keep myself informed. There's been a rise in Anti-semitism in the US and U.K. and I hope both govt's tackle it head on. Whatever you think about May, you have to give her credit on that one comment stating how it's both parties' faults about the tower and this was a failure of the state of either party over the years. Anyway, May seems much more competent than Trump, so there's that. I wish the U.K. the best of luck with Brexit and I hope all goes well. Now back to my country having a nervous breakdown over Trumpcare. It's fucked up.
The LFB should have made sure cladding was safe and they should have ensured they had personnel physically able to rescue people from a high rise. The focus on recruiting female "firefighters" and the inevitable decline in able male recruits may have been a factor in the death toll. Check out the LFB website and videos on the LFB b4 u disagree.
What happens when you don't pay nurses what they're worth? They abandon internal NHS jobs and go to private agencies who then sell back those staff to the NHS at a higher cost to the taxpayer. So this isn't about cost cutting. Pull the other one.
Dont listen to the words.... listen to the frequency behind their voices. She sounds weak and wavering, no conviction, just trotting out the same old same old. JC sounds genuine caring, real and stronger. That's what I have always thought and I stand by it.
JC is talking out of his arse...there seems no legitimate reason the cladding on Grenfell was not tested prior to the incident...More money for more female firefighters and equivalent fitness males would not have made a difference to the victims on the night. They may also be corruption in the procurement of inadequate equipment for an incident such as Grenfell, which must be examined. The LFB Commissioner (paid more than the PM) should probably be removed and training refocused to produce firefighters physically able to contend with a high rise fire.
Instead of electing a peoples person and a man of peace for prime minister, May remains PM and makes a £1b deal with DUP weeeeeellll without the peoples consent, why are people honestly letting shit like this continue??...
THe qustion is How long can she stay? - The British Pound is down and can never come back the British people are down and and a civil war is only a question of time in Britain and if even Britain can not protect own British Children then the whole British country is down and can never come back. No Hope and no Glory but only one desaster after another - no country in the world can survive this.
Im an American. Just an average Jo. I love to learn about the Uk. Our fire departments come around once a year (i think just once) to business check that everything is in order. Fire extinguishers are up to date. Exits are properly marked exct. When buildings are built the fire inspectors are involved there as well. Is this not protocol in the Uk? I would have assumed it was.
Yeah which is partly the debate at the beginning. Teresa May believes that the tower block fire was an inevitability due to decades of departments not doing their jobs properly and it going unnoticed by governments of both parties where as Jeremy Corybn believes that the disaster could have been mitigated if it wasn't for public spending cuts by the conservatives
I'm not sure how often it is but Prime minister's questions is when the prime minister (Teresa May) has to answer questions about policy on current issues by the leader of the opposition party (Jeremy Corybn) as well as by less important politicians (back benchers) who are normally a part of a political party but are supposed to only represent their constituents (the approximately 60,000 people who live in their constituency)
unpopular opinion: I think we need to raise our taxes by an extra 5p-10p. 65 million people in this country, imagine the money the government could make from this to help put money where they keep talking about cuts. unfortunately the word "Taxes" is like a bad omen. people only see the worst of it but it will greatly improve our country if spent correctly

Did he achieve them when he sang with the IRA after they killed our men women and children? If people vote for someone like that then there is something seriously wrong with the new generation of voters.
Bit of a cheap shot by Corbyn, doesn't matter how much money you throw at it, I very much doubt the awful tragedy at Grenfell Tower would have been avoided, sadly.
marxism "The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all private property" what corbyn says "Everybody aspires to an affordable home, a secure job, better living standards, reliable healthcare and a decent pension. My generation took those things for granted and so should future generations."
9:48 Corbyn asks May a question about budget cuts. May, instead of answering the question, asks a question of her own.. WHAT THE HELL IS??? ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION ABOUT THE DAMN CUTS!!!!

should it not be tested BEFORE they install the cladding!!!! just a thought!
Oh come on.. who would have tough of that?!
well you have to go back over 20 years I blame labour for not looking into this.
Maybe it was!

More lies from Maybot, I hope the people of Glenfell dont have to wait 28years for justice.
Aren't most of these tower blocks with dodgy cladding in Labour controlled councils?
i am not waving the Tory flag here but labour are taking no responsibly at all for something which began under their watch using the public mood to score points really quite vile cladding of high rise buildings began under LABOUR
Kensington only recently elected a Labour MP after a very long control by a Tory MP.
That Labour MP was head of the council that was in charge of these buildings or something I believe.
Richard Foleher the tories voted against a law that would require landlords and councils to take these measures to make sure nothing like this would happen
Richard Foleher stfu
They're all stuck up
Boris looks pissed.
Theresa May please resign. Thanks.

Its almost like devoting 100% of your efforts into spending as little as possible and denying ordinary people a voice results in suffering and death.
It is her power. She acknowledged her mistake and the government's mistake. She is not a Liar. She is a real politician.
It's bullshit , because they should of been checked in the first place , before putting them up.
Notice that she didn't answer the question about housing all victims.
Let me give you the answer Theresa May. Private ownership of housing seeks to cut costs at every turn, giving way to bad cladding that puts human lives at risk, all for the sake of a lucky few.
when labour was in last time they left the country near bankrupt
fuck corbyn. labour will not get in with this idiot in charge

The more I watch this the more I get annoyed at both of them. We should be looking forward and getting this sorted, rather than just pointing blame!
25:38 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Way to go JC, come on take the fight to them
Go on Jeremy, tell them like it is!!!
Watching Scottish representative is just delightful.
I have come to the realisation that I don't like any of the PM's, what should I do?!!! :(

Kyle Willey this wish list has been achieved in other countries such as Norway.

Very good answer from May at 15 minutes.
Labour could take this country over a cliff if he ever gets into power
Alan Myatt seems like someones been reading the sun instead of the Labour, costed, economist backed manifesto
Whatever you think of Corbyn's policies he has one think Teresa May has not. Integrity.
Let's be honest here, neither of them is PM material. Period.
I'd love to see May having a debate with George Galloway he'd completely destroy her and call her out on her pinocchio act!

Hero Of Time yeah cos the man with plenty of peace awards will be able to take over Europe
Did he achieve them when he sang with the IRA after they killed our men women and children? If people vote for someone like that then there is something seriously wrong with the new generation of voters.

All hate May but voted her in... LOGIC.

marxism
"The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all private property"
what corbyn says
"Everybody aspires to an affordable home, a secure job, better living standards, reliable healthcare and a decent pension. My generation took those things for granted and so should future generations."
