Nice vid ❤️
I'm on for saturday 😉😉
@@blupblupking Hey Paul! Sorry for the confusion, but the private lessons are just for the top tier membership level. I intentionally made it that way so it's a much smaller group so I have time to devote to everyone's questions. Hope that makes sense!
This is a great puzzle because it's actually not unheard of to have a position like this. A lot of puzzles seem to be very unlikely positions.
how is having 4 rooks, both on two ranks a likely position lol
It's possible to have 10 rooks 😁
its usual
Well, to have exactly this position is pretty unheard of to be honest, I mean, the slightest difference would make the puzzle useless, nevertheless, it is a pretty nice puzzle and shows you some moves/position you might not be used to/ever considered, for maybe different positions.
"And then we have a king and rook, which should be a pretty easy win"
*laughs in 500 elo*
Nah mating with rook is not that hard you can barely stalemate it and if you have enough time you should win even if you dont know how the mate works
Assuming you are familiar with the simplest mate (ladder mate with 2 rooks/queens), you really should learn King+Rook vs King and King+Queen vs King next. They are only a little more complicated, and are very common in real games. Regardless of your rating, I'm confident you could learn them both in under an hour.
It would be cool to see a puzzle where you must en passant to win
Wow, that's a lucky person, getting you as a personal, personal coach, even if for a night! Good luck to you all, hope you find clever puzzles to bring to the channel :3 have fun
Wow I saw the 9:45 position but didn't think about the black rook checking white king trick in between. It is not difficult to calculate though once you see that.
Great teacher.
Very subtle indeed. Thanks.
Very subtle indeed! Great selection of ideas to keep in mind because, as previously mentioned, this is NOT an unlikely position to be in 👍
Great video, cheers
6:15 In my opinion it is possible for black to win. Instead of taking the pawn he can move the other pawn forward.if he keepa pushing the point in he can promote either one of his pawns to queen.
This guy covers really complicated Chess Puzzles I have ever seen (I am 1700s in Random and I find these tough)
2:07 I think it's Rd7 either forcing a trade or getting the pawn
No, black gets queen, you take the queen then black take your rock, so you down material and probably gonna lose if black does not blunder
THANKS SIR,🙏🏼
alternative solution: unli checks to flag the enemy off to oblivion
Why can you not take the pawn at 5:39? You don't have to push the A-Pawn allone. You can Keep him nearby the King. So the King defends always the pawn. And even if the Black King tries to capture the Rook, you can easily move the Rook D line up and down. The Result is, atbthe end Black has to sacrifice their rook for the promoted A- pawn. After that, you can capture Blacks pawn and you are completly winning. To conlude: Capture the Black pawn with the King --> Black has to defend their pawn with their rook --> White King goes one up and still defends the white pawn --> Black King goes to the white rook --> white moves the rook on the D line --> Black is moving the king (no other Option, because blacks rook has to defend the Black pawn) --> white moves the King one up (still defending whites pawn)--> black moves their King --> white pushes the pawn --> blacks King goes to the white rook -->wihte promotes the pawn to a queen--> black has to sacrifice their rook for the queen --> white captures the rook with the king--> blacks king Tries to capture whites rook-->white captures the Black pawn with the rook and is winning. Please correct me, if i am wrong. :) Thx for your Videos. I really learn from those. Keep doing it!! :)
What you missed, that after Kb6, Ke8 Rd5 (if I understand correctly, this is your suggested line to white) black can play Rb2+, and if white plays Ka7, then the king is cut by the black rook, and stops its a pawn, so white is stucked. And if the white king goes to elsewhere, then the black rook can keep checking it or can attack the undefended a pawn again, so white can not make any progress.
@@lajos-berenyi Thx, i have completly missed this line.
I have a question that persistently bugs me.
What should we look for first? King safety, or ensuring we have a proper grasp of what material is on the board?
Intuitively I want to go straight for looking at king safety, but that reeks of not reading the question properly before starting to solve it.
Equally, I don't want to overcomplicate things and break the natural flow of thought and intuition.
If anyone is so kind as to give me helpful advice, you have my thanks!
In openings and middle games, king safety is no. 1. In endgames which usually is when half of the pieces have been traded, you'll have to abandon the king's safety and start using the king to fight for the win
you have to make ur king safe first in the opening and the middlegame, it's a priority and if u don't have any king safety, you're in big trouble.
in endgames, you NEED to support your pieces with ur king so they dont accidentally blunder themselves, so ur king has to get up from their safe spot
Nice way to force a winning King and Pawn and Rook and Pawn and King endgame!
I haven't watched the video yet, but the fact that black has a pawn about to be promoted means that white wins, because that's chess puzzle logic.🤣
(Promise I'll watch the whole thing though and give a like.)
Edit: I was right but it got a lot more complex, very clever and very nice!
Rh7 rg7 and rg8 mate
@@rjdano6906 kxg7 lol
It really tricky! I thought it is a draw. Rook endgame is super hard and tricky!
You can still checkmate if he goes to corner
i actually had a very similar position otb but didnt find it lol what
great videos... very clear and well presented
At 5:50 the king can escort white pawn before advancing the white pawn, saving the rook the defend the black pawn. So you can take black pawn on the b file
Leads to a draw. Black just keeps checking white.
I didn't know Shia Lebouf was so good at chess
Q: who wins?
A: The better player.
What do u think about move the rock from e8 to e7 it is win for Black?
Very interesting
Wow my first road map was rook from b7 to d7 black plays Re4+ and I was thinking Kc3 because I thought blacks idea was Rd4 to keep I rook guarding the d pawn after 3. Kc3 Rc4+ 4. Kxd2 Rxd7+ 5. Rxd7 Ra4 6.a7 after which black can check on the a file till my king chases him away and I promote or he sacs on a7 totally mis evaluated the position
Am i right that if it was black to move at the initial setup then black wins? That pawn seems very hard to stop
In real games the moves to be found are really really hard
didnt actually need to solve the puzzle to know whether white or black wins. white has a forced draw so kinda gave it away
even tho how much I love chess, I'll never be a GM
Just take the rooooooooooook
I wish I found this video before I have almost similar game like this I ended up draw
Exchange black pawn defending rook
You made a mistake, most of the moves would end with check mate with rh8
rook e4 than h4
@ChessVibesOfficial at 7:10 black could also move rook f8
That allows a M3 starting with Rg7+.
Why you use early rook to b7?
I would just draw by repetition💀
In the 4-rook square, what if black captures on D7?
Our rook takes it back and we get the same position
10:00 what if rook captures on e7?
5:31 what if black plays Ke8
Why was the first move I saw Rd7
0:33 why white don't move rook from a7 to h7?
I think it will be checkmate
Rooks can't teleport through other rooks.
The start is rook d4
You mentioned an Easy win for White around 3:50,but if Black simply take the Pawn and sacrifice the Rook does that not force a Stalemate? Can't Checkmate with just a Rook.
Again at 8:40; If Black just sacrificed the Rook for the Pawn they've Stalemated.
Interesting study, but you might want to work on your thumbnails mr Nelson
Pro tip, white always wins or ties in these puzzles
Wite rook kill black rook check mate
9:03 cant you just play Rh1+ Kg7 Rg1+ any King move and then RxRg8?
Rxg8 not g7
@@blue_red_screen my bad :)
I might be really smart or really lucky because for the most part I calculated the correct moves even in the title when I saw the video I said white wins
min 3:30 after Kxb5 why not Rb8+?, i think it might be draw
You are right.
The puzzle is correct, it is a winning position for white.
Nelson just did a mistake, he wanted to show us the moves to fast, Kxb5 is a blunder, Ka5 is the right move.
Okay, but after the king maneuver Ka5->Kb6, can’t black just go Rb8 and keep checking white, forcing white’s king round-and-round the b5 pawn, leading again to a draw by 3-move repetition (at best, for white)?
I don’t think that works; Kb6-Ka8 and I think black loses.
Kc7 and white wins
So triggering for anyone who read the 7th rank chapter of My System by Aron Nimzowitsch
Kc3?
I’m confused, at 8:05 can’t black play Rxe7?
Then u play Rxd8 with check, black moves king or blocks, and you win pawn, so winning endgame
white take the rook above it with check, then wins the awn
At 6:00, black can actually check us with the other rook Rb8+, you didn't cover that line ;)
After Kc7 or Ka7 black have no good follow up
5:16 cant't we play Kc3 as white?
Black underpromots to knight with check
6-22 And what if we go forward with a pawn and not take a rook? There will be a draw here.
Push the B pawn here indeed. He also missed a number of lines the white king could have taken.
You know you did not got to the line where the black rook just takes the white rook which is not lined up to pawn .....Hence You embarrassed yourselve again
Rook on e8 takes the rook ok e7 ...
@@summercube339 ...Rxe7 loses to Rxd8+ K-any, Rxd2 with a won rook ending for White, as mentioned various times at similar positions like 8:15 and 8:25.
this is 9/11 opening
How can I send you a puzzle?
email him
yo another gd player hi
You can't win I have tried it with level 25 chess bot
Why cant rook take the other rook in the minute 8:11
Pawn promotion
Why Black cannot play Rook d4 at 5:21 ?
If Rxd4 Black could play Rxd4 and promote. If Rxd8 black could play Rxd8 and promote. If a7 Black could play Rd4xd7 followed by Rxd7, Ra8, Rxd2 Rxa7 Kxb5 and it's a draw. If a7 followed by Rd4xd7 Rh8+?? Ke7 Black is winning, i don't see How White can win after this move
After Rd4 follows Rh8# checkmate ;)
@@lenalittle4193 Holy Shit How do i miss these, it's even mentioned in the video now that u Said i remembered.
> Calculates 3 variations 5 moves in the Future
> Miss mate in 1
That was really dumb on my part ;-;
Только мастер может на 11 минут растянуть игру
Жиза
in 8:12 black can simply take the rook on e7 and after the other white rook need to take and then black make a queen
White takes d8 check.
What if at 8:07 rook takes e7?
Please don't inhale through your mouth, let the air pass through the filters of your nostrils. That way is healthier for you far less triggering.
What if my guy had a stuffy nose
I think the guy has a cold
"plz don't breath"
It is proven that mouth breathing is unhealthy and makes you uglier.
@@josephbilderback4549 no he is saying to not breath through your mouth it is healthier to breath through your nose
BRILLIANT study! I saw up to ... Kg8. I'm pretty good with studies too. 😏

Why is it in all these chess puzzles it’s always white that wins? Can you not do any where black wins?
It's a convention in composed problems. A bit like how White always starts in a practical game.
