    I love the idea of flexible seating. I wish I had this option while I was in school! I truly believe it’s hard to learn and work in a hard seat 8 hours a day. It’s uncomfortable..

      @mommymint 5 років тому +3

      I absolutely agree. Children co e on all shapes and sizes. A hard seat might feel good to one but be torture on a tailbone for another. I wish all schools did this.

    I love flexible seating. Flexible seating was in just a few classes in middle school/Junior high. Growing up I was quite overweight and so the small desks really made me uncomfortable. I wish this would’ve been an option as a child.....

    Do you ever have boy/girl issues in your class?? Ie: a person not wanting to sit on the couch with the opposite gender? I know these types of situations can be awkward for some students.

      Hello 3rd Grade wow really? My class (year 6) yell if they are sitting next to the opposite gender and are super silly and inappropriate but I don’t really mind, as long as I can work 😂

    I love this, in 5th grade at the small group table we had the crate chairs and I felt like I could always work better on the crate chairs because like you said I could just sit how I would at home and it made me feel more comfortable and visiting her class now she has all flexible seating in her class just like you and her class is the talk of fifth grade and I love that they want to go to school because they feel just as if they were at home but still want to learn.

    What I do is have them choose where they would like to sit on the first day when they come for meet the teacher/back to school night. It gets them excited for the 1st day. I have them put their name tag in that spot. 😊

    I am a first-year second-grade teacher this year. I will have a fully flexible classroom. I love flexible seating and found your ideas so helpful. The only q I have is at the beginning of the year on the morning of the first day what do you do? I want my students to come in and immediately put their things away as I explain how and start coloring but I don't want them to sit on the seats yet since I haven't modeled them yet, so what do I do? Do you have your students just come to the carpet on the first day?

    • @hellomissromeo
      @hellomissromeo  5 років тому

      YES:) They will come sit on the carpet with me until I explain flexible seating:) good luck on your first year! I hope it's nothing short of amazing!!

    as a student i find that having flexible seating is a distraction and we would never get our work done. and i would he distracted with all the things on the wall. but i love the idea and maybe it’s because i didn’t grow up with flexible seating , but love it

    I love this idea! Also you are a great committed teacher! Do you ever have issues with students talking and being disruptive? What would you do if you have a student who can’t handle it or it makes them anxious?? Thanks for the great videos!!!!

    I have some flexible options, but no where near as many options as you! Every year, I add a few more chairs. Right now, I have 10 wobbly stools, 4 yoga balls and 4 bar stools. My bean bag chairs only lasted a few years. My crate seats "went missing" during the summer, but the crates themselves showed up in another classroom throughout the year !! 🙄 I love the grey couch and the yellow chairs. Where are they from?

    I'm seeing a lot of positive thoughts and stuff in the comments and that's cool, the idea is really cool but I personally really like my desk because you have your own area and you're not spreading as many germs and then you're not getting as sick and that's why I like it, this is a brilliant idea if you're like a teacher, but me personally as a student I would most likely sit at your table chair desk thing, which I think are really cool by the way

    I am writing a paper on flexible seating and classroom management. I’m trying to find good research on the benefits of flexible seating. I know you mentioned that there was very good research on it and wondered if you could point me in the right direction?

    As a person who has ADHD I feel like the yoga balls would be so very helpful for kids with ADHD so instead of tapping a pen, clicked a pen, playing with things, etc, they can bounce gently to ease the urge to fidget

    How does flexible seating work for tests? I know in my classes my teachers have to move the desks back into rows of desks when we take tests.

    At sixth form there isn’t a seating plan but everyone sat in the same seats everyday and did not change from our first lesson throughout the year.

    Hi!
    I have a question, if you ever start teaching a different grade, other than third grade, would you change your channel name to that specific grade?
    Thanks,
    7th grade scholar, Beachi
    Edit: If you were change grades, which grade would you go to?

    For me if I were to be sitting on a yoga ball I don’t think that it would help me focus because when I’m sitting straight up and at a desk, my brain is ready to work. While if I were on a yoga ball I would not be focused!
