My Uncle was on the Aircraft Carrier Bunker Hill in the Pacific the ship was hit pretty bad and taken out of service, fortunately my Uncle survived with out being wounded but over 300 men died. Its on youtube.

This is the real thing. At the end of the Pacific War, a bomb is loaded on an aircraft and a one-way fuel is used to make a sortie that never returns. A living human is on board the plane. Most of the Kamikaze corps were shot down by the U.S. aircraft carrier's direct aircraft, and some percentage of the kamikaze aircraft that survived it reached the U.S. Mobile Task Force and were still shot down by dense anti-aircraft fire and successfully rushed into the ship. I’m from the Scottish highlands and I’m always grateful to the US for stepping into WW2. I’m 44 and now that my kids are grown and away I’m watching lots of stuff from that war. My own grandparents were in the RAF and I regret not asking them about it while they were still here.
With hindsight, where the Kamikaze failed was in attacking the warships. If instead they had flown into the troop and supply ships, that would leave no troops for landings and the warships would then have to retreat for more stores and fresh troops.

Honestly our generation would weak at the knees and run away from the horrible reality and deviation of war. Those men did something most couldn't. @@sq_rabbit6310 OK, I saw this and let me tell you that the US had 3 options, 1st was that they starved Japan of resources like food but it wouldn't work because Japan was Autonomous, 2nd options were the bombs and if they didn't prove effective in making Japan unconditionally surrender then the last option, that all the armada of the US was preparing was, to invade the Japanese Mainland, and you can just imagine the number of casualties that would have created. If you truly wish to learn what happened in the war, go to Netflix and watch "WW2 in HD", it will completely educate you on what transpired in the European Theater and Pacific Theater and all the horrors that come with it. Just watch it with no excuses, because if you can comment here, you CAN watch it, right? Highly recommend it to all who want to learn of WW2! Anyway good day and God bless.

1. Then Jerubbaal, which is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose early in the morning and camped by the fountain of Harod; and the camp of Midian was on the north side, near the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
2. The Lord said to Gideon, The people that are with you are too much for me to deliver the Midianites into their hand; let it not be that Israel should boast against me, saying, My own hand hath delivered me.
3. Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, He that is fearful and fearful, return, and depart from Mount Gilead. Then twenty-two thousand returned from the people, and ten thousand remained.
4. The Lord said more to Gideon: They are still many. Bring them down to the waters, and I will try them there; and shall it be that, whosoever I say unto thee, This one shall go with thee, that one shall go with thee; but whosoever I say unto thee, This one shall not go with thee, this one shall not.
5. And Gideon brought the people down to the waters. Then the Lord said to him, Whosoever licks the waters with his tongue, as a dog does, that thou shalt put to one side; and whoever kneels down to drink, you shall put on the other.
6. And it was the number of those who licked the water, putting their hand to their mouth, three hundred men; but all the rest of the people knelt down to drink.
7. And the LORD said unto Gideon, With these three hundred men that licked up the water I will deliver you, and will deliver the Midianites into your hand; but as for the rest of the people, let each one return to his place.
8. And the people took the provisions and their trumpets in their hand, and Gideon sent all the other men of Israel every one to his tent, but he held back the three hundred. The camp of Midian was down in the valley.
9. That night the Lord said to Gideon, Arise, and go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.
10. But if you are afraid to go down, go with your young man Purah to the camp;
11. thou shalt hear what they say, and thy hands shall be strengthened to go down against the camp. So he went down with and his lad, Pura, to the outpost of the camp's sentries.
12. The Midianites, the Amalekites, and all the children of the east lay in the valley like locusts in multitude; and their camels were innumerable, like the sand on the shore of the sea.
13. At the moment when Gideon arrived, a man was telling his companion a dream, and he said: I had a dream; behold, a barley loaf was rolling over the camp of the Midianites, and, coming to a tent, he struck it so as to make it fall, and turned it upside down, and it lay flat on the ground.
14. And his companion answered and said, This is none other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel. In his hand God delivered Midian and this whole camp.
15. When Gideon heard the narration of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped God; and returning to the camp of Israel, he said, Arise, for the LORD hath given the camp of Midian into your hand.
16. Then he divided the three hundred men into three companies, placed trumpets in the hands of each of them, and empty pitchers containing lighted torches,
17. And he said unto them, Look unto me, and do as I do; and behold, I cometh to the end of the camp, as I do, so shall ye do.
18. When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, blow the trumpets also round about all the camp, and say, By the Lord and by Gideon!
19. So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the end of the camp, at the beginning of the middle watch, the guards having but little been placed; then they blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers in their hands.
20. So the three companies blew the trumpets, and broke the pitchers in pieces, holding the torches in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow them, and they cried, The sword of the LORD and of Gideon!
21. And each man was kept in his place round about the camp; then the whole army ran and, screaming, fled.
22. For when the three hundred trumpets sounded, the LORD turned the sword one against the other, and this in all the camp, and they fled unto Beth-sheth, toward Zererah, unto the borders of Abel-meollah, together to Tabate.
23. Then the men of Israel, of the tribes of Naphtali, of Asher, and of all Manasseh, were summoned and pursued Midian.
24. And Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, Go down to meet Midian, and occupy her waters as far as Beth-Barah, and also Jordan. When all the men of Ephraim were called together, they took the waters from it as far as Beth-Barah, and also to the Jordan;
25. and arrested two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb in the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb slew in the press of Zeeb, and pursued Midian; and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyond the Jordan.
