I seriously HAVE to pick this up. I have the Mega Size RX-78-2 and I just adore it. I will say the one thing that put me off were the beam sabers (as you said) since the length is the same as a lot of PG sabers and even the ZZ Gundam Ver. Ka sabers. I would like some bigger ones, but they still look great! Also, I wish there was a separate pair of holding hands for the sabers, but the price for these kits is rock bottom considering the size, so I literally cannot complain. :>
I already got the PG Unicorn for my birthday and it was my first PG Gunpla and my favorite. Seeing this Mega Size, I am considering want this as my first Mega Size Gunpla.
Did you know that the reason this big boy has you put the silver sticker inside the head is because the head itself can use ANY standard LED unit? It's why they give you both eye sticker types and why the head is so conveniently hollow. Built this at a bar I hang out at and had people coming up left and right checking it out.
@Zhen Neil If you want it to light up, you can either get this Mega Size and customize it with LEDs or just buy the Perfect Grade and the LED unit that Bandai has released. ^_^
You'll be better off modding your own lights into it. Its large hollow parts makes it easy to route wires and such through to the psycoframe parts. And the psycoframe parts themselves being hollow means that light will bounce through them with no problem whatsoever. The PG's LED add-on is nice, but the design of the kit is such that some areas of psycoframe get less light than others; there are noticeable dark spots in the psycoframe. With the MSM, I can almost guarantee that a half-decent LED job will light up the entire thing more evenly.
Ok, two questions/requests:1: if you have it can we see this next to the neo-Zeong (full frontals mobile armor)2: if you have one, try and put this (and he'll, why not all of the unicorns at once) under a black light Those are the only questions I have left after this review. Still kit looks awesome, and if I wasn't crushed for space, I might get one
@Renard Toh P-Bandai is a shorthand for *Premium Bandai*. What that entails is a product of online exclusive, limited edition kits. They are released in limited numbers and are rarely, re-released. They are only sold in countries that have a Premium Bandai (or called Club-G) online store. So you either buy directly through those sites if you live in those countries, or you pay more money by purchasing them through a third party like a website that sells those limited kits. If you buy through a third party, website or on places like eBay, you should expect to pay more money since those third party sites pay extra to get the kits as is.
the next Build Fighters installment should have a hilarious battle between the HG Neo Zeong & the Mega Size Unicorn, a battle of epic proportions that is both out of scale & at the same time almost equal in size!!.
Personally i'm not sure if i'm the only one, but i kind of would love a mega size Geara Doga to be made one day. though a mega sized. built me one of these mega unicorn gundams not to long ago. and i agree by far the easiest build ive had since my first SD gundams i got when i first started to building gunplas.
@kenneth acuna Mega Size, GunPla kits are basically High Grade kits that are super scaled up to 1/48 scale. Perfect Grade kits are 1/60 in scale (smaller than Mega Size) but they are far superior in terms of details, gimmicks, number of parts, design, etc. IMO, if you want to get an RX-0 Unicorn Gundam in GunPla form at this time, I'd probably go with the Real Grade and Perfect Grade. I don't have them personally, but I've seen and read many reviews of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam in all of its scales/grades out. The Master Grade releases of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam is pretty good but it does have its problems. The recently released, Real Grade is amazing overall from what I hear but the shoulder joint is very stiff so you have to be careful. Again, this is all from reviews/overviews that I've read online and video reviews/overviews I've seen.
I have the HG, MG, the PG and the RG, and I'd say you're pretty much right. The PG is far and away the best version, but it's very pricey, of course, especially if you want the LEDs (and you do want them.) The RG isn't quite as good, but it's close (I think the proportions are a bit off, and there's the issue with the shoulder joints you mentioned), and given how much cheaper than the PG it is, if money's an issue, the RG's an excellent choice too. But if you can afford it, PG all the way. The MG, sadly, while very nice looking, is flimsy af. I like it, but it's basically the worst version. I actually prefer the HG.
kenneth acuna personally, size is the selling point. perfect grades are essentially bricks that you won't play with, so it really doesn't matter how much details go into articulation or frame. This thing is essentially a brick too but at least you can manhandle it all you want, as well the size makes it viable to make your own customization and LED
Wait, 7,000 yen!? For a badass figure that size, I think it's a BARGAIN! At least if you compare it to statues/poseable figures of sexy anime girls of a similar price or even higher price. Since I really love the RX-0 and Gundam Unicorn (as in the show) especially the soundtrack, and since this is at 7,000 yen I can somehow afford, it's easy to build (I'll definitely suck at assembling because I have zero Gunpla experience), and I LOVE making things I love stand out at home, I think this is calling me. Looking for a place to actually put it on is the problem though. P.S. Oh my, it's the Vist Foundation logo!

I just finished building mine as well. I have the same knee issue in the right leg, its very loose but for some reason the left leg is all normal and tight.

Also, Bandai seems to love doing Unicorn series GunPla kits so there's that. At the very least, I think Bandai would release those as Premium Bandai. That would piss off a lot of fans but ultimately, many will end up buying them anyway.

Just be smart about where you buy your GunPla and when. I'm sure if you import kits from like HLJ, you can save a ton of money since they always price their kits lower than retail. Even with the expensive EMS shipping you should be able to save a lot of money since the actual price of the items are significantly cheaper.

Really think about what series you're mostly into, and then decide if you want to collect HGs, RGs, MGs, etc. IMO, Mega Size is cool, but not really worth the money.
