    Thank you for this. Best review of MFW 1st grade I've seen. Does your prek do the prep curriculum or just join in w your first grader?

      Thanks for watching Samantha and I am glad it was helpful! This was us early last year and my prek kiddo did join us for most of the things yes, I did a couple of separate things with him including Gather Round’s Prek curriculum. We have since switched from MFW to TGATB but I hope MFW works really well for your family, I LOVED the Bible portions of it!

    My son loves scrolls and anything old. He's like a little old man. He would have a blast with those activities.

    I like that "Number of the Day" idea and associated activities. There's a website that lets you "scroll through" the actual "Great Isaiah Scroll" from the Dead Sea Scrolls--which I think is such a cool resource, we love studying the history of the Bible. I love that you made a scroll out of the copywork that your kid did! Stacking the cubes from 1 to 10, that's fun!

    • @TheseDays
      @TheseDays  4 роки тому

      Oh that’s cool! I honestly couldn’t find a whole lot of interesting stuff on scrolls but my kiddos loved the scroll thing and make scrolls for like 2 weeks straight out of everything! Haha. I’ll have to look up the website with the Isaiah scroll! Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the insight! I am looking into 1st grade for my oldest of 4 next year. How do you incorporate your younger kids? I will have a 6,4.5,3, and baby. But I would love to have something for my younger kids in the pre-k/preschool range. What does your schedule/flow look like?

    • @TheseDays

      That’s awesome! I add my 4 yo into listening to the Bible stories and any extra activities we do with MFW. I also seperately sit with my 4 yo and do the Gather Round letters and numbers curriculum when I break with my 1st grader. The 2 yo kind of just walks around doing his own thing, I will sometimes get an activity out for him like sensory rice or some crayons and paper but usually those activities don’t last too long. Also ideally I have some sort of activity for everyone before we get the schoolwork started like blocks/play doh/water beads (which can sometimes make a huge mess!). Hope you like MFW! Thanks for watching and commenting Sandra!

    Are you still enjoying this curriculum? I am currently using it for my daughter. She's in kindergarten. I'm researching for next year and I'm not sure what curriculum I want to go with. I know I'm going to use a different math program, possibly abeka.

      Hey! So I am only doing the Bible and Phonics portions from MFW now! I love how Bible is completely intertwined with the phonics/learning to read portion! But I ended up moving back to Math Lessons for a Living Education and we are adding in Early American History from Beautiful feet books now too as I love Beautiful Feet Books curriculums! I wasn’t a big fan of the layout of the math from this MFW curriculum. As for science we are using one from Masterbooks and just haven’t followed along with the MFW science built in. BUT I have to say a lot of people LOVE the curriculum. It just hasn’t worked as well for us as I had hoped. There’s actually a facebook group for MFW 1st grade I am in and they answer a lot of questions that people have about the curriculum, I could link the group on here if you’d like?
      Also, I am kind of in the same boat as you. I am considering doing MFW bible next year but nothing else. I’m torn on language arts and who we will use, I’ve looked into TGTB but I am just not sure! But we will be going back to Math Lessons for a living Education. Abeka is a really strong math program though! I was taught Abeka math from 2nd to 6th grade and learned a lot and always put me really ahead on the math front! Thanks for watching and commenting and I hope you find the best curriculum that fits your family!

      @@TheseDays thanks for you advice. I'm Raitt leaning towards just using mfw for Bible at this point. I decided were going to use TGATB language arts and math. My daughter loves the math for kindergarten and they just redid their whole math curriculum and it looks so amazing!

      @@bethw4763 that is exactly what we do! TGTB for LA and Math and MFW for Bible and then I choose whichever activity from MFW we want to do. We get Kiwo boxes and that's all we've done w science. As the year draws on, TGTB is getting too long for my daughter's attention span and she sighs every time I pull it out. We've pulled back to 30imutes a day for LA and 20 for math and averages about 1/2 lesson per day. How long are you guys spending on it? Although she's way ahead of MFW in those subjects, I'm considering only doing MFW next year to save her love of learning. Academically she's up for TGTB level and she reads great. And gets the math just fine, but focus wise, her ability to sit through a worksheet, it's just not there.

    • @bethw4763
      @bethw4763 2 роки тому +1

      @@samanthashirley206 we ended up only using TGATB LA and Math. I had a baby in November so we've only been getting through what is necessary. I do plan to add MFW for 2nd grade.
      I believe after 1st with MFW you have to add a LA curriculum.
      TGATB is releasing new LA in the next few months. It is supposed to be more stream lined then the current edition. The new math has been amazing so I'm looking forwards to see what the new version of LA will be like.

      @@bethw4763 I hear you. I have a 9 month old and am due in May. Also a 4 year old. So most of the time all we get done is the TGTB LA and Math and call it a day. Glad to hear I'm not the only one! I'm pretty nervous about next year w a 1st grader, prek and 2 babies!😲
