Graduated from this university in an international master's program 2 years ago and gonna enroll as a doctoral student in 2024. It feels like... different now. I know every single place you showed, is so nostalgic, but studying here is INDEED stressful knowing people are so smart here.
Lovely! I walked around campus last November and the gingko tree canopy along the main walkway was a stunning bright yellow. I was waiting for you to stumble upon Lucifer Square! Maybe next time. Mahalo for the video! 🌺
I love this video! I work at a university in Arizona and I love working on a campus. And I think what you said is so true. You said it is almost like going into another world. I was commenting to a friend, that my campus sometimes feels like its own "city" within a city. We have our own power plants, campus transportation, etc. 90s with high humidity? Is it cool in the shade? It is going to be 110 (43 C) today with 32% humidity. So officially it is 🔥 But it is a desert, and everyone stays indoors and only go outside when necessary. 🥵 Thank you for the tour, John! Stay cool out there!
I love university tour....would you please show us around international christian university ( koganei), waseda and hitotsubashi university too.... Thank u once again John❤
I work at a University in the US and universities just have a different feel to them from the regular world. It probably helps that the uni I work at is many hundreds of acres in size. We also have a Starbucks, in addition to other chain food places, but it's owned by the university.
It’s so fascinating to me how skyscrapers in Tokyo so high can dance and not all fall down!!! Quite amazing work from engineers and making it earthquake proof!!! 👌🏻 Yeh 37 in Tokyo wow!!!! 🥵
Geez!! You walked right past the Nou-Seimon Gate of the Yayoi Section of the campus without even showing us the statue of Professor Ueno Hidesaburo and his famous dog, Hachiko! It was only meters away from you, just to the left immediately inside the Nou-Seimon Gate. So close! Next time, maybe. Lovely campus, isn't it? Especially in autumn when all the ginkgo trees turn yellow. Todai doesn't rank high on international comparisons of colleges, but in Japan it's like Oxford, Harvard and the Sorbonne rolled into one. Its prestige cannot be over-stated.
This was a great livestream John. Is Tokyo University considered one of the best in Japan? Or are there others that are just as big or more desirable for students to attend? Like how the US has Harvard or Columbia for law school?
The best example of great college dining hall food is at UC Davis here in Northern CA. My wife and I have eaten there a few times...it is incredibly good. I am sure its common in Japan.
Haha! I had to laugh at the obligatory story about MI students shoplifting the rocks. 😂 Especially since I was raised near Ann Arbor and even though I haven’t lived there for a long time I still remember “Oh how I hate Ohio State”. 😂
It’s obligatory. Everyone (from Columbus OH) KNOWS I have no choice 😂 those rocks in their heads might be why they’ve won the last 2 football 🏈 games 🤔
I believe it’s not too expensive for Japanese (for a government sponsored college) to go to Japan’s “Harvard” NOT easy to get in - but out of country, I might expect people to pay more out of pocket since taxpayers won’t subsidize.

Both the knowledge tree and the big one, I felt so mesmerized looking at them
This school alone is worth a day to tour this marvelous campus.

It’s funny to see a Starbucks - HERE - at a Japanese Public Uni 😂 but it’s so similar to the US in many ways. Another world.
I'm in tokyo soon would be cool to meet you, your videos are so good 👍
I love road-trips, that’s the best way to see the countryside.

@@onlyinjapanGO Tourism of the higher education system and surrounding environment is important for Japan. Thanks.

Tokyo University is essentially the Harvard of Japan. So yes, it’s one of the best universities in the country.
The best example of great college dining hall food is at UC Davis here in Northern CA. My wife and I have eaten there a few times...it is incredibly good. I am sure its common in Japan.
Thanks for this great stream ❤

John is taken aback by sight of the Tree Of Knowledge on campus of Tokyo University.
Volcanologist, no Spock’s.
oh wow, I never knew you were a buckeye too.
Please do more university or college vlogs!
Starbucks in To-Dai campus, NO WAY!
21:30 What are those things on the ground to the right?
Hey man, you missed the Akamon (赤門, Red gate)!
Ah, now I have to go back!
You are some like Mark Ruffalo
lava: a‘a
What is the cost to attend this university?

hachiko is not there anymore?
