Hmm. I think you might be playing UT2003 instead of 2004. If I remember correctly it was Malcolm the boss of that one. Haven't played 2003 since forever now. Disc broke at some point, and it's pretty rare now, because it's allll about 2004...
Guntherzilla Schmidt You have the 3 Godlike teams right... You play the team capitan of one of those teams (Malcolm, Xan or Clanlord) depending on the amount of times you loose to their team in the tournament. So if you go through the whole game unbeaten, you will play Malcolm and Thunder Crash in the finals as a defult thing.
Simpelicity I tried it a few days ago, and i purposely lost in the Mothership assult to Xan's team. I got him in the finals but I think it also has something to do with what version of the game you play. The demo version only allows you to fight Malcolm because for some reason i have both versions installed onto my PC.
I was certain it was instant death, so no, I didn't. Even if I did though, I wouldn't have done it here. Watching me hide would be the most boring thing ever...

Well I _did_ beat all of these before... I just can't really do most of those and keep the video interesting. In UT I actually beat Xan after he went up a notch, I was hoping I'd manage to do the same here. No dice though.
I'm not sure if it was only Clanlord's AI that improved when the difficulty ramped up. Tactics isn't a critical stat for winning in this game (although dodging incoming fire might be useful) so I wouldn't be surprised if they boosted all his other stats to max too. As you said, if he can kill you easily with several assault rifle shots, the game devs probably applied some sort of damage multiplier to his weapons. Basically, Clanlord doesn't deserve a name because he's a big fat cheater, lol. Good try on your part anyway.
This mission just becomes pointless after around ten minutes. So really its a question of how unfair you want it to be -- get your kills in the first 8-10 minutes and then either don't show up at all or give the AI a few minutes, it's up to you. What is clear is that its not really possible to beat the AI fairly in this one since its cheating anyway.
The absolute best players can beat this fairly because they're good enough. Really the only issue here is one of design, for a player of average strength he'll be able to beat most of the game on a certain level, but the boss needs to be probably a couple difficulty levels down to be a reasonable boss for that difficulty setting. Or to put it short, the difficulty does not match the setting.
@@Simpelicity Interesting. Mayhaps I played an earlier version but I always thought the bots on this level played at godlike after 8 mins regardless of what difficulty is chosen. And not just that, the damage amps and firing rates that the weapons have don't seem to me to be the same as in the usual game, suggesting that the AI is cheating. If there is an actual video of a player beating this mission fairly I would like to see it though I probably would not believe it..I mean I would until say 2-3 levels above Average..because that is the highest that I've beaten it. If you say people can beat this on Godlike, I would like to see that!

In my youth I was able to hold my own against godlike in OG Unreal Tournament, and there are players better than even young me. The way to beat this "unfairly" is easier than you think though. It doesn't become godlike difficulty after time, my understanding is that the game increases difficulty when you're beating him too hard. Don't get too far ahead of him in score and he won't level up too much.

Is that how it works? In my souvenir, I always had Malcolm in 2003 and Clanlord in 2004. I thought that was just how it was :P

did you know that if you land on the jet of hyperblast and hide,clan lord/xan/malcolm won't find you

Kill it and run, or let it kill you every now and then to keep the score close enough that it won't go into god mode. Or hide, as you were suggesting.
