Father and mother raise chicks. They're identical, both brood, feed, and tend the nest equally.
The poop eating (gross to us I know) is amazing. Notice how the chicks only do it when the parents are there. Totally essential because in no time the nest would be uninhabitable otherwise.
I've seen many other birds that defecate when no parents are there.
Parent blackbirds said "We can't wait till you guys grow up and leave, all y'all do is eat and give us shit!"
Rodzice zjadaja kupę, by zachowac czystosc i higiene w domku..❤💪
They also remove and drop it elsewhere.

The common blackbird is omnivorous, eating a wide range of insects, earthworms, seeds and berries. It feeds mainly on the ground, running and hopping with a start-stop-start progress. It pulls earthworms from the soil, usually finding them by sight, but sometimes by hearing, and roots through leaf litter for other invertebrates. Small amphibians, lizards and (on rare occasions) small mammals are occasionally hunted.[39][40] This species will also perch in bushes to take berries and collect caterpillars and other active insects.[24] Animal prey predominates, and is particularly important during the breeding season, with windfall apples and berries taken more in the autumn and winter. The nature of the fruit taken depends on what is locally available, and frequently includes exotics in gardens. - Wikipedia

In Popular Culture - The common blackbird was seen as a sacred though destructive bird in Classical Greek folklore, and was said to die if it consumed pomegranates. Like many other small birds, it has in the past been trapped in rural areas at its night roosts as an easily available addition to the diet, and in medieval times the practice of placing live birds under a pie crust just before serving may have been the origin of the familiar nursery rhyme:
Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye;
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie!
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,
Oh, wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king?
Motherfed baby hungry

lovely
Did the bird eat the poop 🤮
Yes, they do that so predators don’t see lots of droppings underneath the nest and know there is young to prey on.
@@Eleventhearlofmars thanks for info I didn’t know that, now it makes sense 👍
@@Eleventhearlofmarsi was wondering about this. They are smarter than i thought
@@EleventhearlofmarsPredators don't need that to find the nest. They see the parents flying back and forth, and they also know where to look. Also many chicks are noisy when begging for food, so, they know by hearing.
How did this predator- camera man, know where to put his camera??
@@danneyteeIt's all instinct.
Humans have babies/children and birds have chicks!
