where i see the true church is small parish churches, with a priest who loves his congregation. To me thats the church jesus founded, a community tightly knit together, with a priest who loves them. My church is relatively small. Our congregation is young and old, where people of every race come together as catholics. The honest priest in my mind is a priest who sacrifices his life for God, someone who lives in the small house behind the church, who is faithfully chaste and lives in service and poverty.

How is it "nasty" of the pope? Expecting any person to allow unwanted physical contact just because it "means so much" to someone else is honestly a disgusting idea.
Plus I'm pretty sure it's meant as a way of saying the pope isn't so amazing that people should kiss his ring, he's being humble and saying everyone else is just as great as he is and he doesn't need special praise.
