- Spending time in Palm Springs but we have several close calls! Whew!
No boondocking in the Valley but we're in plenty of date trees. Fun at the Living Desert Zoo, Village Fest, bike ride during Modernism Week and something we've never done before by attending a Polo Match, The Sport of Kings.
Will we stomp divots on the pitch at the end of a Chukka? Who knows?!? But we're going to have some fun in the sun.
Oh...we have some adulting to do with projects! Ewwww....

RV Camping
We like to "Switch it Up" between resorts and campgrounds and boondocking is always an option.
We draw inspiration from Keep Your Daydream KYD, Less Junk More Journey, Finding Our Someday and Changing Lanes. We normally travel in an HDT similar to UA-cam channels Suite Travels and Watts on Wheels. I also get some ideas from the editing style of Happily Ever Hanks (Happilyeverhanks) #thankshanks and believe it or not, I actually learned something from MRBeast Mr Beast video's as well.
Our journey is the destination. We want to share in our experiences in our discovery of What's Next.

We use the TSD card for diesel fuel and save a bundle each time we fill up our Big Rig. We also use it to fill up our Onan generator.
The big blue boards (XL version) we use sometimes to get us "un-stuck" is from:

Our Class C is built by Thor Motorcoach on a Ford F550 chassis. It's a production build Magnitude model XG32. We tow our red Jeep Wrangler Sahara behind it. We've made some modifications to it so that we can boondock comfortably. Lithium batteries, Victron 3000w multi-plus inverter, dual alternators charge while traveling and mods to the water system greatly enhance it's boondocking capabilities.
Our extreme completely custom 5th wheel is built on a semi-trailer chassis with air suspension and air brakes. Completely loaded it weighs 42,000 lbs rolling down the highway. And we do roll down the highway nearly every week. You see, we believe that if your home has wheels they should be used.
Vehicles:
2016 Volvo VNL780 "Voyager"
2016 Smart fortwo "Pathfinder"
2019 SpaceCraft Custom built semi-trailer 5th wheel "Orion"
2023 Thor Magnitude XG32 Class C "Curiosity"
2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara "Artemis"
Power system:
3250 watts of solar with Panasonic panels
30.1 KWH of Lithium batteries

Wow, trees with no shade, something to look forward to in Palm Springs
🤔🤣😎Very little shade indeed! Thanks for watching.
Your photography is outstanding. Your videos are so polished and professional looking.
And I usually don't like video background music but I always enjoy what they play on their videos.
David I love your humor
Thanks for the comment. I've always been that way...our daughter actually "misses" my jokes when we are away! 😂😎
Great times in Palm Springs. Thanks for sharing. I have collected G gauge trains for years but after visiting and seeing the layout at the Palm Springs Zoo it inspired me to make my own garden railroad. Great fun. One of the better zoos that we have been to.
Thanks, Bill. It's a great zoo and they are making some major improvements! The train section has been expanded over the past two years too. Glad you enjoyed it.
😎another GRATE one!😎
🤣😎Thanks
Sondra did you know that Dollar Tree has scrapbook items and stickers and such!
I know some people will say, you mean you do not use cleaning products, no, I do not. They have alot of harmful chemicals. I use good ole baking soda and vinegar. It does work wonders on things, especially in my bathroom and kitchen. I flush after I use the vinegar and baking soda, hot water, not boiling, just hot, it is great using these 3 things. I can not handle the smell of cleaning products and my cat has asthma and she is not supposed to be around any chemicals. I love the zoo and all the amazing animals. The polo match was great too. A great video, thank you for showing me Palm Springs. I love HOBBY LOBBY. I live within walking distance of the store. It is a nice walk and I can't buy more than I can carry, so that is great. I could spend all my money in there.
Sometimes the smell of the chemicals is not good. baking soda and vinegar works amazingly well. Sondra could spend all day in Hobby Lobby! The Polo match was pretty chill. Thanks
Super video.
Thank you very much.
The thing I like about Palm Springs are the snow capped mountains behind the lush green lawns and palm trees. I'm based in Los Angeles.
Love the valley environment with the mountains as a backdrop everywhere. So much here that it's a wonderful place to visit.
This was a fun stop! Thanks for sharing all your adventures in Palm Springs! Love the giraffes especially!!❤❤ The scenery is amazing!
Thanks, Marian. We really enjoy the Palm Springs area. Lots to do and love the vibe!
We enjoyed watching another video. Looks like great weather for sure. We noticed the artist at the Village Festival and thought she seemed familiar as well as the location. We had just seen her perform on American Idol the night before and had received a Golden Ticket but was upgraded to a Platinum Ticket. Her name is Abi Carter. She’s performed at the Village several years.
Thanks for watching the channel. That is cool. She has a beautiful voice.
Great video, love the pics from the zoo and the houses. Love the scenery around Palm Springs.
Thanks, Steve. We do too! Always enjoy our time here. Great vibe.
Awesome video, great featured music and lots of interesting adventures - very well done, safe travels!
Thank you very much.
Been to Palm Springs many years ago1 Saw my first date tree! Also Bob Hopes house! My neighbor here in Dayton Ohio was a polo player. He got us into horses. Went to my first polo game with him and he made me get on one of the polo ponies on the Dayton Team to warm it up!!! Yikes!
oh Man! Now that's an experience! the Bob Hope house is cool and was built for entertaining purposes only since he hosted the Bob Hope PGA Classic in the desert. Thanks for watching.
I've never seen a polo match. Interesting! That zoo looks like someplace we will have to visit on one of our trips to that area.
The zoo is a nice visit and the polo match was very unique. Great relaxing activity on a nice day.
Beautiful photography in the zoo and around town! Your videos put a smile on my face. And who knew a Smart car could handle all that weight on the back? When you put the rack and bikes on the back, I was waiting for the car to pop a wheelie! 😊
Thank you very much! It did feel like the Smart was going to tip over! It can handle about 400 lbs so we are within the guidelines!
Hi guys, I was watching and I looked away just for a moment and Dave said let's go to Australia, wait, what
is the official announcement bahaaa. Great vid as always 👌
😁🤣😎Thinking of you, Brendan when I said that! One of these days...we've got to get down under for a bit. Thanks for watching. Hope the family is doing well...and your fish factory is coming along.
Glad you rode your bikes around town to see the many Mid Century homes all about. I lived in one (built by Alexander) and was a few blocks east of town (Palm Canyon and Indian) going towards the airport. But a backyard pool is a must in the summer (even though it's year round use there) for sure! Interesting to see you at a Polo Club. And, hey, I "spotted" that cat at the Zoo!
🤣😂😎that's good KB on the cat! So much fun viewing all the mid-century architecture. I think Alexander built many of the homes in that area. Polo was cool and a nice change of pace. Thanks
Have y’all ever done the San Bernardino Mountains? Some beautiful areas to “Boondocks”
We haven't done any boondocking but we have driven through them on the Palms to Pines... see the video tomorrow.
So nice to see Sondra in her “sticker” element 😂
She loves her stickers, Kaye. I don't completely "get it" but then I don't have to...🤣😂😎Glad she's enjoying it and appreciate your comments.
Great episode again! Loved the zoo! Great photography. In Kindergarten I remember being stressed out for the first time ever while colouring asking myself “is the zebra white with black stripes or black with white stripes?” Thank u for taking mind off our story…hubby just had a quadruple open heart bypass. For you men out there…any weird or unusual chest, shoulder or mid chest twinges even if light…please see your Dr. Even his MIBI scan showed ok. Was a false negative but angiogram showed 4 almost 100% blocked arteries. Also blue coded after 4 days at hospital, just got home tonight, he is ok but wow oh what a journey…🇨🇦 ❤
Wow, Yvonne. You've had quite a week! Didn't realize all that going on with you. Glad he's back and hopefully will be back on his feet shortly. Glad you enjoyed the video... hand in there and get some rest. see you next week.
We learned the hard way that our beloved drink bottles the seals wear out before we are ready to give them up.
I think we are learning that the "wet" way! They are leaking all over Sondra! 🤔😂🤣😁
We ordered new replacements seals on Amazon
For next time. 36:30 If you have not been to Mountain Center and Idlewild up the mountains west of Palm Springs it's lots of fun and would be a great day trip from there. The old movie house up there is a must-see.
Jessica, you must have read our mind! There's always next week! 😆 Thanks for watching the channel and sharing in the journey.
Hey guys. I'm curious, when you have the bike rack and bikes on your car can people behind you see the tail lights at all ? Interesting video as usual.
Yes. I raised the bikes 5" to insure the taillights and license plate are visible. We're also looking into more lights further up the end cap.
Great video! Looks like open spaces there. We are heading that direction in a couple weeks. What kind of printer do you use for the nice pictures you put in your journal? I would like to start printing out my pictures too! I love the idea of the journal I am going to give it a go this next trip.
We have a Canon 4500 (?) which works great. Sondra will love to hear you're going to try it. Thanks
Sondra's cup wants to retire to Whataburger Gold - the whata urger cup community in the cupboard above the indoor tools (see the 19 min. mark in the video tour of Orion). 😂
😂🤣😁😎I think that is true! She will shortly!
Another great video guys! Question for you both: what did y’all do for work before this and what are your ages? I heard on a previous video that y’all are coming to Florida soon. What part? We live North of Tampa and would love to meet you both.
Right now, we plan to be in Florida for about 6 weeks near Orlando and St Augustine around November/ December, but that could change. We worked in the electronic manufacturing sector in management. Sondra is an electrical engineer and was director of sales and I was GM Logistics for an aerospace firm. Thanks for watching the channel. 😁
David, Did you build your battery system yourself? Do you have any info on the system and where you bought your components from? Thank You!
We thought of the concept of the system but got the actual technical design and components from Starlight Solar out of Yuma, AZ. Larry was great and helped us with the install from a consulting point of view. The prismatic configuration was required to fit our footprint at the time.
This is VLOG 104. YOu have 2 different ones labeled 103.
Thanks, Brent. The two "103's" were a typo. The latest Vlog 103 should have been 104 thus making this one 105. Sorry for any confusion but good observation!
Wait a minute… did you put the zebras butt over David’s face as a joke or was that just coincidence 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣😂😎That was definitely intentional! Glad you caught it and enjoyed it!
Really enjoyed the video, as always! Also love the sense of humor. Great shots at the zoo -the zebra butt was amazing! Take care , looking forward to the next video.
We really appreciate your time watching the channel and are excited to have you along on the journey. Thanks for being a part of the story.
Very true. Sondra uses liquid soap but cleans with vinegar and baking soda. Thanks
Why was she hurt..?in hospital
.
I think referring to the Alaska hike where she hurt her big toe.
What was your profession?
Sondra was an electrical engineer and I was in logistics. We've camped for over 30 years so a lot of experience in that regard.
@bigtruckbigtravels I worked for the energy industry for 30 years in Australia 🇦🇺.
Driver , crane operator , dogman and a street light operative.
Another great episode of the Adventures of Sondra and David! I especially enjoyed the zoo and the polo. What an interesting life you have, thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! We're excited to have you along and it's neat that you are enjoying it too! We're very fortunate to be able to enjoy this lifestyle and share it.
Your videos are spot on! You inclusion of videos lets us see what you are seeing and hearing vs just photos. We get to see the things we missed while we were traveling and the places we didn’t get to. Your editing is amazing. Thanks for sharing. You’re the best out there !!!!
Thank you so much for the compliment. We hope to let everyone experience what we are and not just see US! 😂😎Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate your comment.
Sondra and David you guys are truly growing on me and i really look forward to my evening watching a few of you videos . Even your "Dad jokes " i look forward hearing now . Sondra here's hoping you got your sinus and tooth issue fixed . Y'all stay safe out there .😊
Thank you so much. I guess like that stray animal which continues to show up on your door step. Eventually, you feed them and then take them in!
The cheetahs are next to the zebras because cheetahs don't eat zebras in the wild, they eat gazelles. Cheetahs don't go after big robust animals because they'd risk injury/breaking a leg from the zebra kicks. Cheetahs have almost hollow bones so they can be more aggile and faster but that means they are more fragile.
😆 ok, that makes sense! Thanks Joshua for clearing that up. Hope your knees are feeling OK.
Did y'all go to the zoo on Wednesday? If it was, you could have let the camels know it was Hump Day... :)
We did! And I can't believe I didn't think of that?!? I'm slipping! Thank you.
That's a shame about no paper maps for memories, (Sondra might want to get her Disney park maps this year because they are not making them anymore. ) I was curious about the journaling, do you make a new one for each trip, or year, ..? I love the idea, I keep treasures from all our adventures but they usually end up kept In a box.
Oh man! Say it ain't so! No Disney maps! What is the world coming to?!? 🤔🤣😂She creates a journal for each week...every week...every year! Mainly since we are doing something each week so she has stuff to journal about. Thanks for watching.
Sondra, as a scrapbooker I can definitely relate to how you feel when there aren't paper maps etc at places.
She is not a happy camper in those situations!
I litterly ate a burger from that guy Thursday night!!! I just got home from psp Tuesday!
Me too! And it was delicious! Glad you made it safely back home. Great weather weekend. Thanks for watching. PSP is a cool place.
It looks like there are a lot of "Frank Loyde Right" houses, I did not think he was that prolific in that area. I was more understanding that he built in the New Mexico area. Did you find any information on the builders of the
modernistic houses. Remember, at the Polo matches you use your "little pinky" when you talk and drink!! lol
that's right! The pinky needs to be at attention! 😂🤣😎 It was a builder by the name of Alexander who was responsible for many of the homes in that area. The area came to prominence during the '50's - 60's so the design was established but they kept it going through ordinances and such. Palm Springs proper doesn't allow drive-thru restaurants either! Cool place. Love the vibe.
It always amazes me how Loyd Wright (notice I finally spelled his name right!) influenced so many
other builders even though they all "Tweek" their builds so as not to get in trouble. Palm Spings will be added to my list of places to visit when I finally get that allusive R.V. Figured if I stick with
you two, I'll be very well knowledgeable by the time I purchase. @@bigtruckbigtravels
I thought you had AGM I remembered thinking you should get Lithium
We have lithium prismatic cells for our power plant. We use AGM batteries for our heavy 12V loads such as slides, water pump and stabilizer jacks.
I am truly enjoying binging your videos. The content, editing and energy are fantastic. Polo is a magnificent sport. My cousin Kim Kelly is a PS area resident and former professional polo player. She still plays in amateur tournaments at 68.
That is awesome! We were surprised to see both women and men playing on the same teams. Though it makes sense once you understand the sport.
Love Palm Springs-Headed there in April and I can’t wait ❤⭐️🚌🇺🇸
Hopefully it will not be too hot but you'll have fun. Great place to visit.
Good video...glad you had good weather...thank you...stay safe...J&A2ofus
Thanks 👍, J&A. We're definitely enjoying the weather. Safe travels to you guys and see you down the road.
Wonderful video, thank you ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching the channel.
My dream is to have a 57 ft or 60 ft RV and make it a double decker and explore the world with my family
I like that dream! I want to go down to Australia and camp the outback!
Great video!! Would have loved to see you divot stomping at half time. Sounds like the house tour fees are an attempt to pay for the remodeling.
We thought the same thing that they were trying to recoup the remodel expense and use the "Elvis rumor" as a way to entice people to purchase it. Not for us! Didn't get a chance to stomp. Next time! Thanks for watching.
We share the same taste for traveling with the house in tow.We have a small camper or mobile home just for my wife and I.
Nice. That is probably very flexible and easy to tow. Great minds think alike!
What the name of the campground,it looks nice.
Palm Springs RV Resort in Palm Desert. It's a Thousand Trails park. Tight but very nice with plenty of amenities and activites.
You stated that your lithium batteries are 5 years old, do you see any power reduction in them? 🇨🇦
Nope. We've only cycled them a few hundred times (90% to 10% SOC), so they are still good. We've noticed no degradation on power.
Can you run your air conditioners off of 30 Amp other then 50 amps
Yes. We have designed our power system to be able to run everything in the trailer on 50 amp or 30 amp or even 10 amps! Our solar also kicks in during the day to assist as well. So even though we're on 30 amp, we can run our A/C when it gets hot...which we've been doing the past week! And use the microwave or stove top or electric water heater or .....
Please enjoy a lot, a big hug from Colombia.
That's special from South America. Thank you. We have some friends of the channel down in that area in their RV.
Love your sink bowl. Very pretty.
Thank you! 🤗 An artist in Cody, WY made it for us.
What did you get those wonderful bike bags for your e-bikes? I didn’t see them on your Amazon page. I love your video.
I should have said bike covers.
I believe Sondra made them.
Great job Sondra, I want some.
Sondra made the bike covers. Thanks
Thanks. She did a good job.
Buy Stanley bottles. They don't leak.
Thank you. We may try those next.
The wife thought for sure the smart car was going to fall over backwards when you put those bikes on. Thanks for another great video. You know we've been to Palm springs and we hadn't done any of those things so I guess it's something to plan for.
It felt like it was going to tip over for sure! 🤣😂🤔😊Lots to do in the desert. Thanks for watching.
Hi it was so fun to watch this episode. We went to the desert each winter for ten years. We had seasonal passes for the Living Dessert Zoo and Palm Springs Air Museum because we went there so often. Thank you for the memories 🤗
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing. We went to the air museum last time but it's a lot of fun. The zoo is very nice with lots of different events. Glad you enjoyed it.
Wow that's a nice place
Very nice. We enjoy it.
Perfectly symmetrical? Who knew it?!!! Maybe someone has a little too much time on her hands?😂
🤣😎Waaay too much time! Thanks for watching.
Hello from Australia
G'day, Mate. One of these days we're going to experience Australia via a caravan. Thanks for watching.
Good video 😊 how big are the spaces in palm springs since you have a hdt and 46 ft rig 🤔😊
🤣😁🤔Some are bigger than others. Most on the left side can accommodate us but they are 30 amp and probably 60-75 feet long. The right side is 50 amp but the sights are much smaller at 40-55 feet long and at 90 degrees to the road. It's a challenge and you have to know what you are doing with a large rig such as ours but it works out for us. Thanks
I wish I had the $ to live that life. But I live it through you two. Thank you❤️
Thank you for watching the channel. We're excited to be able to share our experiences with everyone and to give back to the RV community. We're very fortunate to be able to live this lifestyle and enjoy it.
Yeah saving a tree
Thank you for watching the channel. We're excited to be able to share our experiences with everyone and to give back to the RV community. Woo hoo!
Hey guys, we enjoy watching you, and need to bring to your attention that your bike carrier is non-compliant in most every State. Not only is your license plate obscured, your tail lights are as well. The latter being hazardous to yourselves and those sharing the road. You can resolve the light situation with full function lights with temporary mounted lights on the roof (suction cup and magnetic are readily available). The plate violation can be resolved with a relocation to the bike rack. Some areas are more lenient if front and rear plates are required, but plates are to be unobscured regardless. Unfortunately, this has become a growing problem with more and more "girthy" bikes in racks mounted to narrow bodied cars and SUVs. So much so that in my area there's a zero tolerance policy and tickets are issued. Safe journeys!
Thanks for the info. I raised the bike rack 5" to be above the rear tail lights and the license plate so as to insure it's visible from behind. AS an added measure, we are looking into lights up higher on the rear cap but we're compliant as we roll currently. I can understand the need for compliance. That's why we did not haul the bikes on our Jeep during our Alaska trip as they would have hidden the tail lights completely.
@@bigtruckbigtravels Great! However, delve into the standards and you will find your raise alone is not sufficient. You have done a service to passenger vehicles, but you're still obscured to the riding height of trucks, which I'm sure you can appreciate.
In coming years we will see revised standards published on aftermarket carriers of all varieties, but we Americans like to reinvent the wheel instead of adopting what works in other developed countries... Probably will see the standards change for LED lights first (since we couldn't just adopt E-code for them but had to wait till everyone complained about the glare), but I know the teams working on writing both.
@robv4053 thanks for the update. 😃
Great video.
We really appreciate your time watching the channel and are excited to have you along on the journey. Thank you for the comment.
Oh my the Mrs has no jacket on.....well that didn't last long 😂. Excellent video thanks for letting me hangout. Safe travels.
😆 didn't last long... but she was in short sleeves... for a little bit! 😆 🤣
Great Vlog, content, and beautiful Palm Springs!!
We really appreciate your time watching the channel and are excited to have you along on the journey. Thanks for being a part of the story.
That was so cool seeing the polo area. The water usage must be over the top!! Thanks for sharing all the pictures of the critters at the zoo. Amazing! Looks like another great adventure for the books! Be safe out there!❤~Wendy
Thanks for watching, Wendy! I can't imagine the water bill! It was very green! Appreciate your comments.
Thanks for being the bright light of my day/week. Had my dental surgery Tuesday (post for implant) - everything went great, and my hubby tested positive for Covid yesterday. I’m hoping that I don’t get it but chances are I will. Thanks for entertaining me with this video. I love watching the 2 of you. I will watch your other video on Palm Springs to get more ideas for our trip. God speed.
Thanks, Christy. Glad we could help with the surgery recovery. Hope you stay "covid free".
Love the content
Thank you. Glad you're along on the journey.
You are taking us here to places we have never been and I just love it. Both the zoo n the polo Match would be awesome but the bike ride around was great. how fun thanks again. See you soon❤
Thanks, Mona. We had a lot of fun. Glad you're along with us.
I haven’t been to Palm Springs in years. I’m gonna have to go down there.
It's a very cool place to visit. We were surprised during our first visit by how much we like it.
Great video - Glad to see you are moving up in the world with your sporting preferences 🏇
😂😎Thanks, Steve. We felt very sophisticated that day! Great relaxing activity on a gorgeous day.
Your pictures of the animals in the zoo are beautiful!
Thanks. Sondra can take a mean photo for sure!
I'm looking to buy a Ford Motorhome similar to the one you have. Just trying to get an honest review. just a basic overview of that model. I want a diesel, but I don't want to go into a larger super C.
Our Class C is laid out nicely and the Ford F550 has tons of power for that platform. The tanks are nice sized for the RV and the storage (inside and out) is great. We hate the suspension system though. I would never want to take it "on a 4WD area" to camp in as I think there is too much lean in the suspension. Hindsight...we'd still get this model but we'd change the suspension to either Sumo Springs, air ride or Liquid Springs. The DEF tank is a pain to fill since the hose is fairly flat to the tank and the front fuel tank has a bad vent system so it's hard to fill more than 75%. All fixable issues but wish it would be better from Thor.
Thank you @@bigtruckbigtravels
Thanks for sharing 😊😊😊

I love this video!
We really appreciate your time watching the channel and are excited to have you along on the journey. Thanks for being a part of the story.
People seem to not understand trees can be grown and they use CO2 as they grow so using paper is not bad.
Agreed! As long as we replant the trees we cut down it actually helps the environment.
I do have to say it… “the Hobby Lobby promo just cost David any credibility with men all across America.” 😂
😂🤣😎I love T-shirts...that's my weakness...Sondra going in anyway...so I may as well find something I like! 🤣😂😎
Thank You for the journey I always enjoy your travels. Safe Travels 🥰
Thanks for watching! We appreciate your comments and glad you enjoyed it.

Ok...what?!? Thanks for watching?!?
