My first HF transceiver. Bought one used when I first got my license back in 1996. I need to check and replace the data/OS battery else lose the ability to operate it. Had a lot of ten meter QSO’s with that radio. Also used it mobile to talk via 40m and 80m.
I have (2) of these rigs and I absolutely love the separate antenna jack for MW/LF. Gives my choice of antennas for that range and allows use of an HF antenna for everything else. I think that all rigs should have this :).
Most rigs add attenuation for the broadcast band. Also, the IC-745 has a separate broadcast antenna jack (Low Band Ant Terminal) on the back (RCA jack). (You can use a Y-adapter if you want to use your HF antenna with the broadcast band as well...) They are a GREAT radio! I have one, otherwise I'd be bidding! :-)
@@stratocasterblue ... Yes. Much more down there than submarines. Two amateur radio bands, many airport beacons... I'm sure you know how to search the Internet.
Typical hamm operator response I asked what you have heard there, maybe you should unlike most hams keep your mouth closed if you are not going to answer @@daleneurauter2810
There's a low band antenna terminal on the back for anything lower than 1,600. The radio automatically switches to that terminal.

Transmit audio is the best so that Low band antenna is for lower than 160 meters but is anything broadcasting down there other than submarines
