Amazing stories? 😂 He got a car, spent money making it look like a car that it wasn't and drove it illegally in a few places noone cared about including an abandoned mall that was getting demolished. Great story lol
Unless you live in Cali. CHP will impound your car, arrest you, magically find drugs in your car, and charge you with 5 different offenses, all for letting your parking meter run out.
The cops in Cali is forbidden to arrest homeless people who are thieving, robbing, breaking car windows and shop windows, using drugs and selling drugs even in broad daylight. They have to finance the cleaning of craps and urine on the sidewalks so they have to charge you. A rape victim in Seattle was even shamed and blamed for making the homeless look bad. That's liberalism for you.
Great story. I was 13 and I remember going to see the Blues Brothers with my older sister. I laughed harder than I had ever laughed. I think its time to watch it again.
Correction ... Paul Shaffer IS the Blues Brothers Band. Actually, the core of their band was the original SNL band. All of those musicians are regarded as the best of the best in Blues and Jazz circles. Guys like Donald 'Duck' Dunn and Steve Cropper started as studio musicians for Stax Records and played / recorded with everybody! Tom 'Bones' Malone has played everywhere from SNL, to The Last Waltz, to the Olympics and with everyone from Woody Herman to Frank Zappa. 'Blue' Lou Marini has worked with Buddy Rich, Steely Dan, Aerosmith and more and Alan ' Mr. Fabulous' Rubin is Juilliard trained and, again, has played and recorded with damn near everybody in the business.
Lol this comment got me laughing for a min, but then I stopped as if I caught myself making fun of someone so... but it was quiet funny for that brief moment
I adore the "Blues Brothers" & found an old '74 Dodge Monaco ex-CHP car back in 1983 with 440, spotlight, push-bars & whip antenna, I painted it like the Bluesmobile back before it was popular, it was the ultimate fun road trip car for my friends & I after we finished high school. Of the 90 cars I've owned it was among my favorite!
@@NeverMetTheGuy I have them, no way to share them here. CHP here in California gave me ticket for impersonating an official police vehicle so I painted it Navy Blue in '84, looked like an undercover cop car but still was the Bluesmobile to me.
I'm not too sure about that being used for a road trip in today's mindset.. I'm pretty sure with the weight and big motor ur not going far without needing more of the $5 a gallon drinks that the car loves so much lol
@@slimwilly573 We took it on major road trips often, from Fresno up to the Sierra's & even down to Los Angeles, gas was just under $1 a gallon at the time.

Oh nice! I have always wanted to hear the story behind some of the antics these guys had with the blues mobile around Chicago. I remember when Travis drove through the wet mall. I saw a clip he posted in the mid 2000's of it. If I remember correctly. They were going to release a dvd called return to Chicago. In which they visited filming locations in the blues mobile. I looked for that dvd to order but never found it. Great story and legendary for him to recreate those scenes from the film (which is one of my favorites).
It’s got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant. It’s got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters, so it’ll run good on regular gas.
The produces bought the entire Chicago police fleet to make that movie. That's how they got all the city permits to make that movie. Some were repainted as Illinois State Patrol cars, but....

Great stories. Back when I worked for Cinema Vehicle Service in California, I had the opportunity to drive a lot of movie and television cars and except for a couple of instances, my stories aren't even in the same zip code as yours!
Best story so far, but then I might be biased as I love that film so much. There's a pretty decent Bluesmobile in a town near me (Bedford, UK), I almost shit my pants with excitement the first time I saw it!
Man the fact that scene where they were pushing 120mph under the elevated train bridge is 100 percent real still blows my mind they were even allowed to film that.
This will be the best story of the year! I loved it! The blues Brothers is a timeless movie, but car guys love it for the blues mobile. That guy is a Rockstar!
One of my favorite scenes in blues brothers is when the nazis are yelling at the bridge and Elwood drives towards them and floors it. And then you hear the secondaries on the carb open up 😊
I'm 40+ years old and I'd still love to at some point. Own an old Dodge Monaco and a Ford LTD. When I was pretty young. I had a nice 1980s full-size Caprice, so I love me them big four-door rearwheel drives.
I would have tried to pull a Ricky with those cops “My names Corey Lahey I’m from universal studios here and yeah we were told we could come and check out some filming locations”
I've been a fan of The Blues Brothers as long as I can remember. I have a 2013 Interceptor named Elwood. I hope to be able to find a 74 Monaco but I'm not holding my breath. Absolutely wonderful story behind this cool car.
My grandpa had a blue brother’s replica police car when I was a kid. He had the cigarette packs on the dash and the massive siren on the top. He even had a blues brothers tribute bad where they sang all their songs from the movies and a lot of other classics, they would roll up the the gig in the car all dressed in suits a couple guys even wore the nun robes. Almost forgot the handcuffed suit case
For Fort Knox I'd say the Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger. Which car for Atlanta thou? You've got the General Lee and the trans-am from Smokey and The Bandit. Very cool story and a great movie.
The image of flying down that street under the train while the cops are parading is SO Bluesbrothers. I can just imagine a shot of that parade scattering as a car chase cuts through it in some alternate reality.

The Blues Brothers was the movie of my childhood. This was the movie where I "discovered" Carrie Fisher. And yes, I saw Blues Brothers before Star Wars...
Universal Studios is being so cheap about the Blues Brothers show they sometimes won't even use an actual Monaco. You'd think they'd have more than one available. lol
If this guys smart, he should edit all the footage together. Add some interviews of his friends and other people involved. Talk to the stunt guys and people in the movie. How. What when. My buddies friend built a perfect bluesmobile copy. Put creases where they where in the movie, painted identically, giant speaker on top that works, dash covered in stuff they would have had, all this done in 84. It was signed by everyone that worked on the movie and many other celebrities, signatures all over the interior panels. Dan signed for john as he died beforehand. They dress up as them and do shows.
