In general: As far as the notion of a podcast giving the best value for its subject matter, the Grateful Deadcast hands-down is the absolute best. Even episodes I thought I would not be too interested in always turned out to be well worth the time, and even inspirational. I don’t know what else to say except for keep up the great work!
I was at Weirs 27 th birthday ,Winterland wednesday oct 16, 1974 . First of the "Last five nights" run at winterland. I got two close ups in the GD movie because i was the first guy in line and had a spot dead center against the stage . During the night Bill Graham stopped the band mid way in a jam and strolled out wearing a tux and several bottles of cold champaign which i was given a plastic cup full of to toast Bobby with . :)
Another great episode. I could listen to Don Was all day. It's been a pleasure getting to know him (so to speak) and hear him talk about his adventures and the extended family thgese last few years. He's really articulate, funny, and we should collectively thank him for Dead & Company. As far as Bobby's influences, I imagine you'd have to look to piano players moreso than guitar players. Also, I hope Don's insightful explanation of Bobby inhabiting the songs and giving him space for that helps reframe the reference for the many who complain about the tempo. The slower we go the wider we get, indeed. Grateful to all involved who make this podcast possible, I hope it never stops.
I have heard a theory that the Universe operates on a clock cycle. That the sun nova occurs every 12,800 years. The next one is calculated to be Oct 16, 2046. Bobby's 99th birthday. You never know.
The mornings I wake up to a new deadcast are the best mornings.

Bobby continues to open up new horizons for us to explore. The slower we go the wider we get. 🎸🎶

I terms of R n R guitar influences I do hear a lot of Jimi phrasing in his playing. And Keith. But not much else.
r and b influence , cornell dupree, grant green , steve cropper and all those other greats
I've read that Weir was heavily influenced by piano player McCoy Tyner
Bobby is old and in the way. Haha
