My daughter is a Zeta from UNC CHARLOTTE she was the ACE and stepped I love it! She gets into it and I don’t know who she is! Lol she gets mad bc I say she married her brother in public lol she did he’s a Sigma, my father was too. There wedding was off the chain the brothers stepping and sisters strolled around them.

I came here because of the viral Tiktok and am disgusted more and more every day by white society. This coming from a white Civil Rights Lawyer. I was part of Greek life in the 90s and when black sororities and fraternities did this on campus you stopped what you were doing and watched in awe. I still get goosebumps when I see it start and I'm 43 yrs old. The clapping, synchronized moves (as a longtime cheerleader and dancer) I know the dedication and practice and would think white girls would have more respect. After all, gen-z is supposed to be the bullshit love everyone generation, cancel cultural, everything offends them; except when it's them. Do their traditions of burning crosses and excluding black members from polite society serve them well in Greek life?
I get that college students often waste their time and talents drinking, doing drugs, and spending time in bed, but I'm not sure how learning complex choreography is a gigantic improvement on those uses of time. I mean, they could be volunteering for political candidates, playing team sports, working at soup kitchens or food banks, or a 1000 other actions for social change and personal growth. I'm sure commenters will hate on me for this, but I'm just wondering how these dance routines enhance personal development, and social justice, compared to any number of other activities that a sorority/fraternity could engage in.

They offer scholarships to high school students. Membership in black Greek organizations is well-regarded in the black community. Many black politicians have active memberships in sororities and fraternities which they use to network. So no. It's not just about the strolls.
If you knew anything about the D9 you would know that they do all that you mentioned. I am 50 years old and I am still volunteering with the the Sigmas. What have you done? What are you doing?
@@cynthiabrown50 I'm agreeing with you. These ladies do a ton of work for the community. As for me, I do and have done a lot of volunteer work in my communities. That's in addition to my direct services job in community mental health.
