- Sporting full beekeeping gear, Joe Harper and Andy Sugden are seeking an investment of £65,000 in return for 10% equity in their range of honey-infused, fruit-flavoured water - 'Just Bee Drinks'.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

I love Peter. This show wouldn’t be the same without him or Deborah.
Clearly you don't remember the days of Theo and Duncan! Back in the hayday of dragons den. When it was strictly business, not overly theatricised, egocentric and immature. Go back and watch seasons 1-10! You'll despise what the BBC has done to such a special type of reality show throughout the latter years..
There would only have been about 3 investments in the last 3years if it wasn't for Peter and Deborah
@@clk1564 I wasn't talking about investments or popularity. Simply pointing out the fact that once upon a time;... Dragons den was more about business than cut-shots and facial expressions after every sentence of the pitches. The series is a shambles these days regardless of Peter and Deborah.
@@solostrummer9919 bring back Hillary duvet!!! She made blanket offers
This show is not the same without Jenny!
This deal was screaming out for someone to say 20%
Or 25% at the beginning, and after the payback point, come down to 20%.
I am also baffled as to why they did not go back to Peter and suggest 20%
i was thinking 22.5
They clearly said they can't go above 15%
When they said to him "Is there anything you can do?", that wasn't to the point enough to make Peter come down slightly. A ratchet to 20% once he made his money back would have been perfect
I looked them up to see how they're doing. The pandemic nearly killed their drink business so they've now pivoted to selling raw honey instead. Keeping my fingers crossed for these lads!
The website is still up, so bullshit. They're doing just fine.
@@joewas2225 that’s not what he said
@@joewas2225 are you unable to read?
There doing really well with the raw honey. Haven’t got the exact revenue figures but based on the amazing reviews they are killing it.
@@joewas2225 🤦♂️
I think our palate is just used to the taste of refined sugar, since it's almost everywhere. That's why most of the dragons did not like the taste.
I've had honey in my tea and liked it more. good for the throat as well.
@@KJ_2020 I make warm water with honey when having a sore throat. Workes well and I don't mind the tast.
Yes honey is great, what are they chatting about? Using less processed ingredients is also hugely trendy. I'm surprised health nut Deb wasn't all over it. I thought she'd be glugging honey on the daily!
@@KJ_2020 Have you tried Mead?
The taste of honey varies with what the bees have collected the nectar from. I dont know how that can be controlled for product consistency. Fun fact 2000 year old honey found in the pyramids was still edible. Im fine with honey in my coffee but not in my tea,
Having Peter Jones on board would surely add a hell of a lot more than just his money..
Still to be proven, he invested in hundreds of companies but his time is 24h, just like us. Customers and partners could not care less if you have peter jones or elon musk, what they care is to have a product that makes money. 65k pounds for 25% is ridiculous, with that money you do the paper work and a salary of 4 months of a person. People who do not realise it it is because they never worked in the field of company investment.

“ before we make a counteroffer .....” that was the other genius moment in d den
If someone wanted 25% of my company and made me a million by a few months... I'd be happy giving them that much equity..
.. They could have at least counter offered 20%
was thinking just the same. Even 22% and with the money they make they can create another company without the need to give away any %....now they have to struggle and wait...time is of essence they should have simply accepted the offer.
If you already offered 23% for 150k
And now devaluing your equity, what will 3rd investor gonna do.
They should’ve at the very least attempted to negotiate a buy back derivative based on performance. Very bland negotiations from all of them.
@@ictrickshots Does that ever help though? Deborahs mentioned it before that the dragon puts all the effort on to get it over the line, only to then have their shares stripped off them - it doesn't quite make
Basically unless the dragon is asking for 50% you take the offer. If it's a 50% offer then it's just a throw away which they don't want unless they control the whole thing.
Touker: "i CaN ofFeR an OffIcE fOr aLl of yOur BeEs"
HAHAHHAHA
Everyone else pours into a cup then drinks Peter just drinks straight out of the bottle what a lad
I was thinking the same thing but I would also pour it into the glass to inspect it.
thats where it tastes the best
@Bob Shingles to inspect the drink itself. If you saw the clip, sarah was looking at the liquid itself in the cup
How is that "lad-like"?
Should have negotiated a buy back in a year or two
Aalright football transfers
That's what I was screaming at my monitor too. His concern was "it might not go anywhere", response should have instantly been a buy back offer when it does go somewhere!
me personally im against buybacks cuz it takes out the interest from the share holder to advance the company its not like he is counting on this business to succeed or elsewhere he will be in financial problems. if I were pitching my company I would make sure my well renowned business partner is very financially interested seeing this company booming even if he already got his money and some back. I actually would counter offer him 20% and a little royalty on the sales he closes that will extra motivate him to keep expanding the company. what do you think about my comment?
itamar smoisman Not necessarily. Buy backs would motivate the entrepreneurs to reach their targets. Once they reach the target, the shareholder is confident that the business is successful.
that is probably what they were fishing for - but Peter chose not to bite..
Touker: I have office space for the Bee's 🏢🐝
However, I won't get out of bed for less than 1% share of the honey 🍯
What's with all the office jokes and toukar?
@@jessicaj8564 He often jumps in to offer them office space. It's almost always one of the 'things he can bring to the table', regardless of whether it is even necessary or wanted. You'll start noticing it now you've heard it...even the other dragons joke about it :)
LoL....
They should’ve been “buzzing” when Peter made his offer...
I guess they didn’t want to get stung
Kane Gardner why should they bee?
instead they told him to "buzz off"
10:14 “Big fan of bees” - Oh yeah I’m sure you are. He doesn’t give Bees a minute of thought until these guys came on 😂
And you know this? i ihink you are a berk with no evidence either
I feel like 90% of the episodes has a "but Peter Jones..." moment
"We want to make them smile"
Walks in wearing masks and spraying a mysterious gas into the room
it's not a mysterious gas haha, it's smoke used to calm bees, often the burning of pine needles
It's laughing gas. Best way to ensure at least one smile.
@@Ilicet isn’t the smoke used to calm bees nicotine ?
@@mathewdee1632 No, it's just smoke. Some people use bark, some people use leaves, some people use pine needles or pine cones. You just want something that smokes a lot.
my immediate reaction when the smoke/steam started filling the elevator: the dragons are gonna think they're hot boxing in there XD
Peter: just sell the honey 🍯
Everyone: 👏 👏 👏 genius
lol... the word genius is crying
Sarah got moist
It wasn’t the bee suits that made the Dragons smile, it was the big smiles on Joe and Andy’s faces.
They should have been buzzing for Peter’s offer.
Instead they swatted him down.

The last statement about accepting the offer and regretting it in the morning was a bit strange, did those two not understand how it works? After the show it takes a while for all the due diligiance and paperwork to go through during which time one of the parties usually withdraws from the deal, isn't a silly low number of deals accepted that actually go through? With that in mind it's best to accept the deal then pull out if something better comes along, they all do it and some get better investment offers just from the exposure on the program.
Totally agree mate,I've always thought just except cause if you don't you can't get it back. Then after accepting while due diligence is going on you can really weigh up the deal if it's fine then carry on but if you don't like it then pull out
@@davidmellish3295 There is a thing called BUSINESS ETICS. Its rare.
@@RafaelMMB But the dragons pull out at that stage and they are well aware that the entrepreneurs may have second thoughts and other offers in that time as well.
I think only dragons are allowed to pull out (if they find out something wrong with the business or something not declared out).
So you can't decline the offer only dragons can.
@@korana6308 I think either side can pull out just like any other legal contract, buying a house, etc. I don't think it would be fair for what is just a verbal agreement until it's signed to only count for one party. If you have another offer but couldn't take it and then the dragon pulls out you have no investor and have lost a load of time and given how often dragons pull out and how few of these offers are actually followed through I don't see how they can expect I dont see how they can expect entrepreneurs to wait if other offers are on the table for them.
JUST SAY 20% SOMEONE? ANYONE?!
Imagine the look on my face when I see the one in pink walk in like he came back from a game of Squid Game.
1:10 that moment when mum says, "explain yourself young man".
I personally love honey in tea. Swapped from sugar years ago and never looked back. Too much sugar is far too sweet, and not enough is too bland. Honey makes it taste perfect in my opinion.
I think the narrator was secretly sweating at the bee puns from Peter the the entrepreneur.
"be-hive your self" - you can tell that's a joke known only to bee keepers 😂. I like the product and I love the branding. I would have gone 25%, that's fair I think. They would have done so well with Peter
Yea I think they missed out big, they will still do well, but mentorship and connections are invaluable
Peter giving amazing ideas all the time is what I look for now in Dragon’s Den 😆
He remembered Robinson's idea.
I love it when Peter gets excited lol
So does Sarah
The lesson again here was "28% of a lot is better than 33% of nothing"
Honey is no better for you than sugar - because it IS sugar, with a small water content.
I am really sad that they didn't say yes to the offer and just let it bee.
Did you beeswax? It was so silly.
This is a good idea, its so hard to find natural juices in the west, everything is filled with artificial flavorings, coloring and sugar. I have no idea why this isnt more common in this day and age.
The artificial sweeteners are the worst problem
The narrator always steals the show with his funny jokes!
actually, his puns ruin it.
No one:
British people: would you like to eat a pun sire!
Step 1 - Sow some doubt in the minds of the business owners to make them mailable to a terrible offer.
Step 2 - Low ball and talk about how lucky they are your taking a punt.
Step 3 - Let the guys go to the back of the room to discuss how lucky they are to be getting any offers at all.
Step 4 - Shake hands with the people you just took advantage of.
net position on their numbers is 156 not 121, doesn't add up if they have 94k of cash, 45k assets, 36k creditors minus 19k debotrs
They look like they've come straight out of the squid games
Easily the most tense negotiation! I was shaking!
Also should have a follow up with these contestants who turned down offers & see where they are now !
They look like someone who would take a taxi to 20 miles away and then do a runner!!!
I put honey on my cereal instead of sugar, and also use it when baking bread.
Although they didn't secure a deal. They are still going. They haven't exactly blown up but they haven't ceased trading 5 years later.
I would've accept that 25% faster than anyone else could make an offer. I'd be a millionaire by the end of the month.
my first thought when they walked through the door... budget squid game
‘We could share the honey’
‘Oh beehive yourself’
That absolutely did me in 😂😂 these guys are awesome 😂
Yeah he's used those bee puns a few times lol
Sometimes it is not about the money but the knowledge you can gain from Peter. :)
Knowledge has got nothing to do with it. He makes a few calls and the product is in every shop in the land overnight. Isn't the point to sell products?
They should do a promotion with nectar cards
I read they were doing well selling the drinks to the markets but sadly when covid hit , their sales dropped drastically and they had to stop making the drinks. Now they are selling their honey, let's hope things with covid will get better some time soon and they can sell the drink again.
Loving these old episodes.
I looovvveee Deborah but I really like Sarah as well. She's down to earth and tells it like it is. 😊😊😊😊
They certainly didn’t bumble their figures

No.
Two clever guys very astute good luck to them
Sugar definitely adds a taste to tea
Interesting product, you could feel the buzz, but there's only room for one honey in the Den and that's Sarah.
Well speaking of Peater idea ... Can just take a jar of haney take one spun and put in to water haha !! Is that not even better squash ? :D
*THE PROBLEM:*
The reason "healthy" drinks don't sweeten with honey but instead use various plant based alternative sweeteners is that a HUGE portion of market for "healthy" products is vegans.
Vegans don't eat honey.
Were looking for them to smile

Fantastic product opportunity
They sold their company for 35 million this year ! 👏
Oh really. Not 200mil then. BS everywhere
Their website dont even sell water anymore!
I put honey in tea as opposed to suger, and I does cange the taste a bit and some people dont like it, so I do get that, however as a "water" im not sure it would work.
Why did they say what many others say, if they meet the figures then they could meet at 15%?
Squid Game has forever ruined pink jumpsuits 😂
Gotta love their space suits
Evan Davis' one-liners are ghastly.
Depends on the honey, the taste changes a lot.
Becouse sugar is a preservative that’s why
i love honey, i keep a jar on the bottom shelf in my kitchen to mix with my porridge every morning-- that way i go down for the honey every day
20% would probably have clinched the deal - and it would have been fair to everyone concerned.
If it does not work they can go on SQUID GAME
Just Bee Drinks secures a six figure investment.
Someone else saw the potential !
why not 20%..Deep roots make beautifull fruits.
Peter has far reaching roots..I think they should of got him on board for advice & contacts it would propel them onto

What a company
The first thing I would do if I bought that drink, is to trace it all the way back through the company, the making factory, the workers, all the way until I reached the bee hive. So I can sleep knowing that the bees the bit of honey came from are ok.
