Greetings from a Tiny Island in Maine, USA I had worked at an Eddie Bauer & Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) in the mid 80’s and still have many products in good condition bought w/ a generous discount. Also have many LL Bean items from their outlets and while the old stuff lasts, the new stuff (imported) not so much. My Bean boots last long and I repair the soles when they start to separate. People are mostly conditioned to the Walmart / disposable goods way of life these days.
Yes, expensive and made in China. In their catalog it says "Imported" in fine print at the end of the description of each item. Think of it like Lexis, made by Toyota. An overpriced Expensive Toyota.
Went there for the first time in the fall two years ago, I was so excited. Yeah, they're selling you nostalgia and heritage at a premium, but I buy select pieces only as special treats. I don't buy my basics there. I find things I like in their Signature line, which tend to be their most expensive. But the pieces I do have, like their Signature Chamois Shirt-Jacket (substantial flannel!) and Signature Cotton Fisherman sweater, are my forever favorites.
I went to this location years ago and it was much smaller and there were not any outlet stores there. Like years ago Kittery Maine when I was in the US Air Force at Pease AF Base inPortsmouthNH from 1969 to 1974, and there was only a Trading Post and Chinese Restaurant on the highway in Kittery. 😊
I live semi close to there. The village station or outlet section or of Freeport seems like it never keeps many stores. Nice to see CT getting more LL Bean stores!
I hope you went to the kittery trading post as well. My LL bean school bag last thru middle and high school and i remember being so happy o could finally have my name on something 😂
Kittery trading Post is nice but it's a little small, LL Bean predominantly sells only LL Bean merchandise there are some exceptions. Kittery trading Post is a store LL Bean especially the flagship is an experience, it's pretty gigantic and it's two stories and the home store is next door in a separate building.
It’s like mom use to say you can have one thing from the store, you just have to figure out that one thing you can get. I think the only real advantage to the store is immediate availability. It is an outfitter store and that allows ain’t cheap.
The outlet store is for "returned" items, NOT previously worn items. All returns go the outlet instead of back on the shelf. It's also a good place to get the totes.
I would assume that if the shoes or clothes are returned, it's very possible that someone wore the items and then decided to return them. I know that's not always the case, but it definitely happens.
My mom would. We have a 4 year old 1/2 Pomeranian 1/2 Shih-Tzu that my mom has coddled & spoiled….was NEVER crate trained. Like your dog, my dog is a chewer….we have gotten him toys that were supposed to be indestructible and he has managed to destroy them.
This is kinda like Bass Pro Shops/Cabela's. You pay for the prestige of shopping there, but it's the same quality you get at Wal-Mart or Target. More of the destination then anything else. I'm actually surprised that they didn't have any glassware with the LL Bean logo on them. Bass Pro would had their name on every square inch of their glasses. Unlike your flea market videos, if I see something I want, I can go to their web site and order it up. Thank you for the video!
I would enjoy a store like this near me, as I get older I feel myself gravitating away from graphic Ts and printed clothing and more towards higher quality simple clothes like what’s shown here.
There is a nice LL Bean store at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor. If you have never been you should go. It's nice but not as big as this one. There is also a new LL Bean clearance store that just opened in Southington.
I have a decent amount of thier stuff. I bought it all before 2018 and prices were more reasonable. The garunteed returns was the best but since they got rid of that i just sick with Walmart. I do like thier moccasins.
You pay for the quality which lasts a long time, unlike the cheaper versions that don't last long at all. They have an amazing return policy. Google it. Not many other stores offer that kind of return policy.
I would say the prices for most of the gear were alright given that it is high-quality gear like what's there is no cheap but it will last a long long time and most folks who buy that stuff use it daily or frequently
I could see paying that much for a dog bed if they lasted (for me). Every dog I've ever had has destroyed the beds within a few days. Now I just give them blankets to curl up in.
I live in Maine and shopped at Bean's since the 80's. I slowed down about 15 years ago and haven't been there at all in the last 5 years. The prices skyrocketed and the quality plummeted as they started importing instead of making their products. Did you see any locks on the doors? Since it was always open they never had any, they closed first time for JFK's funeral and had to hire guards for each door.
@@fleabittenadventures You gotta come up to our neck of the woods next time your in Maine and have dinner some day and we can go to Elmer's Barn a couple minutes down the road. I think you would LOVE it, and it would make for some awesome content. 3 stories of goodies.
Any background music you heard was playing at LL Bean. I did not add any music to this video. I actually had to cut some out due to copyright claims. Thanks.
Nope I can’t afford to shop at those stores. I work to hard for my money to give it away on clothes made in foreign countries nope screw LOL bean I shop elsewhere
there not even closethe wranglers and levis at walmart quality not even clse i had a pair of kakih wrangler from wlmart gotit caught on a corner of a counter ripped whole pocket out if it had been from a department staore or there website woulsnt have happened thats why they are 60 in others store stores cuz they wont let almart discount the quality

It’s our favorite store. Thanks for the tour.
Are they woke?
Very nice. We went there this summer and Freeport and the surrounding area has a lot to offer, great place to visit.
Holy Moley, LL Bean is freakin' expensive... Anyway, an excellent tour of the flagship store. Thanks, man, and quite an interesting place. 😁👍🖖

Expensive, but not the most expensive. I did a walkthrough of a Nordstrom recently and THAT'S expensive! Wow!
@@fleabittenadventures Oh, yeah, I forgot about Nordstrom. Yup, what the heck, man. Why? 🤔
and during the tourist season you almost cant drive thru town because of how many people come here just for beans
Oh! I definitely agree with the comment below about Kittery Trading Post. They have everything. But you can't beat L.L. Bean!

Insulated flannel shirts with hoods. I use them as winter coats in Syracuse
Waterhog mats too
I have an L.L Bean that opened in my area couple of years ago. It's pretty much like the HQ store but smaller.
I'll check out the Enfield, CT location soon.
this your best video yet!!!
Really? Thanks! Too bad barely anyone is watching it....

i live right outside of town and yea, we never keep stores for more than a year, and dont ever try driving thru town during tourist season
I hope you went to the kittery trading post as well. My LL bean school bag last thru middle and high school and i remember being so happy o could finally have my name on something 😂
Agreed!
Same

I'm an Eddie Bauer guy since 1988 🇺🇲
Did they go woke?
@SSNESS I think they are still sleeping 😴
Looks like that store in the Tim Allen show last man standing
First family in the beginning could use some exercise!
I live in Agawam! Haven't been to the new Enfield store yet, but I've been to the one in Freeport.

I like shopping their firearms in Freeport. Great store. ...

Just an FYI - Those dog beds are Made in Maine. As are the Bean Boots and Boat & Tote bags.

Yes, I would say Bass Pro Shops/Cabela's is the closest comparison I can think of.

On the dogbed prices: I know some friends and family who will spend more or premium stuff on their fur babies than themselves

I see now they were locked down down for covid and installed locks then.
Do you wear the Merrill MOAB? I've been wearing them for a decade or more and they're just the absolute best. I keep a pair in low and mid styles.
Yes! Moab! I love them!

wool socks to bed=dreams like before your adult brain atrophied🟪🟫🔵💭🙏🏻🎉😂😂
Or overheating upon 3am wake up.
The L.L. Bean Home store looks like a glorified Maine souvenir shop.
Yep
Yeah, I wasn't impressed by the Home Store.
Love LL Bean but a lot of their clothes tend to be sized really big
If you wear the camouflage stuff to work, no one will see you or find you.
To me LL Bean reminds me of REI.
What you mean is, REI reminds you of LL Bean.
Please, no background music
Any background music you heard was playing at LL Bean. I did not add any music to this video. I actually had to cut some out due to copyright claims. Thanks.
Nope I can’t afford to shop at those stores. I work to hard for my money to give it away on clothes made in foreign countries nope screw LOL bean I shop elsewhere
I could not afford to shop here on a regular basis either. I would probably be a few things a couple times per year.
Twenty minutes away to the most pretentious place on the planet ..yay
I won’t be buying from them, I’ll go to Walmart.
