Thanks Howard for the Fantastic Interview With Evelyn "Champagne" King. I've been a Big Fan Forever. I've always wanted to see A Good interview with Evelyn. Thanks and Cheers From Geelong Victoria Australia.
Wonderful insightful interview! My favorite song from Evelyn "Champagne " King is Love Come Down! Its one of my favorite music videos too! It came out way before I was born! It was shot in my hometown of St. Thomas United States Virgin Islands!
This was pretty good I enjoyed it Howard Hewett is my dude and Evelyn champagne king Is this beautiful sister still sounds Amazing These are icons you cannot forget Their music will live forever!!❤
Evelyn i LOVE YA girl...!!! You haven't lost a step or skipped a beat yet. You just keep getting BETTER...!!! Your performances at this point in your career are still entertaining and blazing. And being a singer myself as your fully aware that's not an easy thing to keep up with as one ages in this music industry. I take a lot of my own god given vocal ability through your musical influence. In other words, i simply LOVE singing your songs...!!! So please keep doing what your doing because your music is still VERY relevant to a lot of folks out there. God bless....:)
Howard Hewitt! I'm outta Akron, Ohio too. We are around the same age, but went to different schools and all that. I even remember your mom, Charlotte Hewitt. She had her own radio station show back in the day. And Miss 'Champagne', I had a strong attraction towards U back in the early 80s! You and Phyllis Hyman were my top female vocalists then. This is special, seeing my homie, and my girl together.
Howard Hewitt has always been a wonderful singer I have been a fan since He was with His First Band He sings like A Bird very very Nice it's like an Angel is in His Soul Just So Wonderful Thank you For Making your Fans Happy We Love You Howard Hewitt. Evelyn King Wonderful singer I have Been your Fan You are a very Strong Queen and Very lovely I Love your Song Shame I can Dance All Night and Never get Tired of Your Music Love you your Fan Thank you Evelyn King.
Evelyn "Champagne" King is still up there for me as one of the many great live artist still doing it. I saw her perform in London 02 a few years back, she didn't disappoint..Plus she plays congos, dances & sings effortlessly. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💯🎤🎼
Mannn you can't tell me I didn't grow up in the best era's of music. 70's, 80's and 90's. Evelyn, is my favorite all time female artist! And Howard is one of the best vocalist out there. His falsetto is unmatched!!
It great the way it is,if it would of been on network mainstream television the interview wouldn't be as candid and in depth, you know for TV it have to be a bit sugarcoated.
Umar Bentley Like that Unsung Shalamar so called documentary where they edited out many facts of how Howard Hewett treated Jody Watley and threatened to physically beat her up? All the while blaming Jody for the breakup of the group when Jeffrey Daniels was the first to leave to work as a Choreographer for Michael Jackson, be in a movie with Paul McCartney and move abroad.
@@jerronwesley4473 Yes there was major major drama in Shalamar and power and ego plays alot in it.Howard Hewett is definitely a big talent and he was indeed the voice of Shalamar, but from the sound of it he came in the group with a huge ego and he was making the group all on him rather than treating it as a collective and the treatment towards Jody Watley was unnecessary.I think he was upset due to Jody not accepting his advances,he was very flirtatious towards Jody and Jody wasn't having it.
Umar Bentley Agreed but Howard didn’t have enough talent and skill and personality to match his competition like Luther Vandross who blew him out the way every time with a better voice, style and better songs. Don’t think Howard was as much the voice of Shalamar as the group was poised to be successful because it was strongly tied to Soul Train with a built in audience. It’s obvious the breakup was much more than one issue but Howard and his ego didn’t help keep them together. His disrespect to Jody and threatening her is cowardly and shows he lacked character too. There were many male singers around who were better than Howard back then so I don’t really give him a pass because Alexander O’Neal was better and so was Teddy Pendergrass- as well as Jeffrey Osborne, Peabo Bryson too.
I smiled the whole hour, and was too tickled at the end😄I have a few found appreciation for you two. Being a 70's baby my Dad's band rehearsals were held in our basement and he'd be singing one of your songs or whistling one of Evelyn's often. And Mom would cook with your CD on daily...she's your biggest fan! So you guys are like a part of my family. I was lucky enough to give Mom your autograph a few years ago for her birthday. Your former band mate Carol...her bodybuilder is my friend, so thank you!!! 💖And tell Ms. Evelyn she's my new best friend in my head... she's amazingly cool!🥰
She said Shame was from 1977. In The summer of 1978 was when it hit LA radio. I remember that time like it was yesterday because I turned 15 that August and it was one of my favorite songs that summer and I’m in Love hit LA radio the summer of 1981 right around the time I graduated high school. Her music is literally the sound track of my teen years
I've known both these singers since around 1979 /1980 but I never knew how humble they're and especially the lady talking about her education is amazing putting in mind that modern singers or athletes don't care much about education as long as they make it, but remember they say education is the key 🗝️ to life
Thanks so much for the interview... of course I admire both artists and as a singer myself I'm amazed and awed by both your talent and beautiful souls!!
Thanks everybody for making this happen, this was cool...just shared it on Google Plus...such good music sounds. Good to see Mr. Fox...Evelyn "Champagne" King has a happy "bubbly" spirit...
Ohhh that song " shame " is a classic urban hit song that transports me back into the joy of my youth. Always love Evelyn's sassy brassy songs. Thankyou Evelyn for giving me the wonderful memories listening to your songs. Gospel album next ?

What a fantastic interview. I'm ages with Evelyn and was clubbing at the height go the disco era. When Shame played the dance floor was packed and burning up. So much great music. Great to see an extended interview, her bubbly personality crackles and fizzes all the way through. Evelyn LOVES music- that comes across very strongly. So glad I stumbled upon this. Evelyn you made Glasgow Scotland DANCE!
Just want to say we have heard so many covers of the hits by Mrs. ECK out here in India on some commercial production recordings that they are playing in corporate restaurants. Isn't there some way Mrs. ECK can collect at the SOURCE? Perhaps it is a publishing rights or label rights issue, but we make sure EVERYONE hears the originals when we are in these venues.
