If you wanna squeeze a little more steam out of the silo you can put regular doors beneath the bunker doors, as they can shut much faster to keep the heat in. Obviously the downside is they can get hit by meteors whilst the slower doors are closing, but I think it'd still be worth it overall
The rocket can dig 1 tile of neutronium per launch, because only the capsule needs to have a free path. The engine sticks out 1 tile compared to the capsule.
You could've just dug out the top, opened the bunker door and dropped some space debrie on top of the leaky oil fissure,. it would be super resistant to and wouldn't break when a meteor hits it.
Enjoy your holiday! Don't worry about us *itch* we'll be just fine *itch* without our weekly dose *itchitch* of ONI from Mr. John *itchitchitchitch* Cheers!
To wipe out all those ladders just make sure they're all connected and install the Chained Deconstruct mod. It's so satisfying to see a huge ladder network just shatter.
btw, to save on materials due to Ladders, you can build ladders with 7 tiles between them (vertically) dupes can reach 4 tiles up and 3 tiles down from ladders.

Oh oh oh, this silo is going to be quite hot, but will steam turbines be able to be power positive with the power needed to cool down the lO2 and the lH2 ? Also, happy holidays Francis, thank you for putting so much effort into this upload schedule :)
I would be confident they generate more than enough power. When you use the aquatuner/steam turbine combo with super coolant the energy return is about 80% already. It's actually quite cheap energy wise.
I know I’m super late, but you could’ve mined the neutronium with a dupe with the perk that lets them finish task immediately. That way, they will clear neutronium but they will be useless afterwards... talk about a clear conscience
True, I still want to block it as far right as I can to give a bit of a buffer. A great comment recommended I let regolith fall on the well, would have been a fast solution.
@@FrancisJohnYT You wouldn't have to chill it much, as long as you close off the doors at the top to not lose the steam. Brothgar added Automated airlocks under the bunker doors, which close quickly to hold the steam in
Why don't you melt steel over the rightmost part of the leaky oil well? Steel blocks should be very resilient to meteor impacts. The dirt won't stand a chance. An advantage of using steel blocks would be that you could use the leaky oil well again. I know the dirt and sand won't survive because I've tested meteor impacts on them.
@thissentientneuron iron would be better because steel has a high melting point and takes a really long time to cool back down to freezing point. Iron shouldn't melt from rocket exhaust if Francis is deleting heat by capturing steam from rocket and powering steam generators.
@@FerrybigGaming I'm not referring to metal tiles. I'm referring to metal blocks made from solidifying liquid metal. I know metal blocks are not impervious, but they are significantly stronger than dirt and can withstand all meteorites except for the iron meteorite without taking damage. He can't place bunker tiles there. He would have already done so if that were possible.
The rocket launch path will be filled with steam, you can just boil a bunch of water in there and let the o2 and other gas vent out to space, will be faster than vacuuming it out.
You should try stacking rockets vertically I've seed it done before built a platform to build a rocket then remove it and you will have a functioning rocket to stack.
I did some testing way back when I first tackled space, I did not have the knowledge and patience to tackle the problem then. But I think I'm up to the challenge now. ua-cam.com/video/1b6gZ4wN57U/v-deo.html

I know you've described yourself as "blause" when it comes to demolishing slime biomes, but is there enough thought put into planning WHERE to expand to make a video about it? @@munitiondragon69 what munition said is correct. If he moves the rocket one space to the right, he will hit the side wall. If he moves the rocket one square to the left, he hits the oil fissure. He doesn't have space to build a tile and wall in the fissure.

An awesome video, as always.
Have a happy holiday season and maybe consider a rocket powered steam sauna for your dupes after all this hard work.
Siphon off a bunch of steam for Sauna's...... I think that might be on the cards.
@3:43 what a tease
I just built one of those a couple of episodes ago.

I thought they patched that out? I remember trying to get that trick to work on a test map and it never worked.
You only have to block the 2. Tile from the left and the botton, because the oil is getting spawned there
True, I still want to block it as far right as I can to give a bit of a buffer. A great comment recommended I let regolith fall on the well, would have been a fast solution.
I would suggest you treat the steam the way you did CO2. chill it down. Use Super coolant, some tough pipes and a Steam turbine with an aqua tuner.
I may have to in the end, but I would like to see if I could harvest power from it as well.

you cant melt steel with the low heat from the oil
Only bunker tiles are protected against meteorite impacts, even a metal tile made of steel won't survive the meteorites

That is one of the reasons the rocket silo is so deep, if I can harvest one rocket sustainably then why not several :)
Suggestion, cutouts on the left stacked as dense as possible to get steam outlets for the turbines in a L pattern type thing?
I am going to do something like that, I want to launch the rocket a couple of times to see what level of steam we will be dealing with first.

I liked it, are you going to put the gas pumps in between the neutronium outcoves?
Shovole could maybe
Make the dirt tiles
Trying to get shove voles to vomit where you want is very difficult. I might have been smarter to drop regolith on it.
are you also gonna make a max size rocket for fun ?
I think I might try stacking rockets on top of each other.

Just freeze the oil on the well? everything is cool anyway :D
Would be funny, but difficult since the rocket exhaust might melt the oil. Rocket exhaust is a lot of heat.
That is outside the box thinking. But professor Chaos has it right the steam from the rocket would melt it.
Cant you just dump the oil fissure off the left? Unless you just dont wanna bother with it
I feel like you could have just 'built' a wall of dirt on one side of that oil fissure, and kept it in operation.
