Coach Guidetti that leads Vakifbank and Turkish NT once said about Kim that "She scores like a diagonal, she receives, digs like a libero, she serves like a machine, she blocks like a middle blocker and what’s more important is that she gives incredible energy to her teammates. She is really something extraordinary." And Guidetti is right, she truly is! Kim makes miracles happen in and out of the court. She needs to be put on the hall of fame for carrying teams on her back.
Not many player play so long on national team..kim showed why she is still on national team..not only kim..larsson,maja are play so long but they are still play until now because the quality of them still can't be replaced by other player on team.
I remember when Kim was invited to variety shows before since the 2012 olympics she would boast herself so that she can get support from the people of her country not just for her but for her team. When they won a gold medal in Asian games after 20 years they were only given a kimchi stew for dinner, so she took her teammates to a restaurant. And during the 2016 olympics they weren't even provided an interpreter so Kim has to translate herself. She has done a lot of things for her team, carrying team Korea on her back for the past 16 years. She's beyond amazing, and I RESPECT her for that, she's a LEGEND.

I first watched her in the game vs the Philippines and since then I became a fan. She went to the Master's in the House (show in Korea) and the way she told about her life makes me love her more. A true queen and legend from spiking, blocking, receiving/ digging. A TRUE PHENOMENAL CAPTAIN

I once saw her play in person and it’s awesome, she can literally play almost all the position. She have a power and speed when spiking and she’s so good at spotting empty spaces. When she came back to Korean volleyball league, she voluntarily reduced her salary around 80% asking her club to share the balance to her colleague players, bcz South Korea volleyball clubs don't have that much budget. Setting aside being an absolutely wonderful athlete, she's one of the great person. Respect!

But this Tokyo Olympic, they prove everyone wrong by going far from what they expected being the non-favourite this year. Just happened to know that; When KYK was 21yrs old, she joined japanese league with highest salary among all Korean volleyball players, she donated 10% of her salary as volleyball scholarship. With her donation plus a corporate sponsorship, many of younger student volleyball players, who were not affordable economically, could keep playing volleyball. One of the students supported by this so called KYK scholarship is Park Jeongah (player number 13), and now she is making miracle with KYK in tokyo 2020 olympics. What a wonderful story of KYK 👏

Whatever people say, to me she’s the best, ALWAYS. Whether her team wins or loses, it’s still worth watching.
She’s really one of the best player in volleyball history, maybe the best. Anywhere she go, either playing in European league or Korean league, she delivered and work very hard to help her teammates. And I believe she trust her teammates so much that her team trust her to help them win the game. After all the scandal and the two main players of korea were unable to play for the national team, everyone have been underestimate Kim and her teammates. But this Tokyo Olympic, they prove everyone wrong by going far from what they expected being the non-favourite this year. Applause not only for Kim but also her team, coaches and staff as they never give up and always giving their best. Good luck for Olympic medal and I’ll always cheer for Kim and her team. She is really one in a billion, the one and only KIM YEON KOUNG.
As a korean I'm SO HAPPY to see that there are so many people out there who loves Kim.. It was so hard for me to see Kim cry after the last match today🥲 l cried with her not because korea didn't win the medal but kim didn't win it😭😭Kim you truely deserves the GOLD, even the world. As a guy from Korea, it's absolutely astonishing to see Captain KYK carrying this team on her back the past 10-15years. And even if you may see me as a biased person because I'm from Korea, I can say that she is the best all around player in the history of volleyball. By the way, many Koreans heard about the big fire at Turkey. We wish Turkey good luck and I swear you will get your medal you deserve at the Paris Olympics.
Kim Yeon Koung is a name that we should remember forever. She is an all-round player as you can see her everywhere in the court. No matter how, she can find the way that works and complement the weakness of her team. What makes her shine so brightly is her leadership and determination. Just happened to know that;
When KYK was 21yrs old, she joined japanese league with highest salary among all Korean volleyball players, she donated 10% of her salary as volleyball scholarship. With her donation plus a corporate sponsorship, many of younger student volleyball players, who were not affordable economically, could keep playing volleyball.
One of the students supported by this so called KYK scholarship is Park Jeongah (player number 13), and now she is making miracle with KYK in tokyo 2020 olympics.
What a wonderful story of KYK 👏
