- Is it STILL worth learning to code in 2024? Tech layoffs, rising interest rates, and AI...what does it all mean?
The tech world is buzzing with uncertainty: layoffs, economic pressures, and AI tools that can write code. It's enough to make any aspiring programmer question their path.
If you're wondering...
"Should I give up on my coding dream?"
"Can I still get a job with all these layoffs?"
"Will AI make programmers obsolete?"

I think there's going to be a huge (at least 5-10 year) demand for coding skills, just because the threat of AI will scare people away from learning while AI still can't actually write code.
We can get them fat backs for being the few programmers that stuck it out lol
I like your attitude and optimism 😎🙌
Love the video. Totally agree with all your thoughts. Your work ethic to break into the industry is such an inspiration. Idk how you stay so active with your Online presence and self study, send me some of that energy! 😅
Time blocks man organization of your time is a game changer
Can you do a video on each branch of cs and how they’re looking up? Cybersec, game dev, network, cloud, etc? Love your videos
I'm glad you enjoy them. No promises but I'll look into and see if I have anything of value to say
Before programmers lost their jobs, everyone else had already lost theirs.
I don't think so will AI replace programmers any time soon.
Good thoughts
James!!!! Thanks for watching!!!
You can learn the theoretical computer science concepts without attending university. A community college diploma or an associate degree covers the real skills used day-to-day. Build in-depth, real-world projects including non-web projects.
Right the knowledge is free. We're really paying for the connections
even though AI might replace junior developers in the mid or long-term, I think many companies will still need developers for a long time.
Do you think they'll need less tho?
@@thetechdad87 yes, but it's still too early for bringing AI automation to the industry now in my opinion.
Agreed and business take a long time to adapt to new stuff anyways
3:56 "turned out to be fake" is such an understatement. The blatantly lied in their demos.
I honestly don't think it is anymore man, when you have people with years of experience struggling to find jobs, how are we supposed to get jobs? I've been looking for four years.....nothing. It honestly might be time to find a new career.
I hope it works out for you. If you don't wanna give up send me an email maybe we can re adjust your tactics.
A CS degree is always worth it. Sorry, but people without a CS degrees are almost always are shit at coding. I've seen it at every job.
So you have seen a direct correlation between the degree and the quality of code? Interesting. Do you think it's still worth pursuing with so much unknown in the future
You must be working with a really small sample size if you think self though devs are always bad.
Copilot comment is right on.. AI is coming.. if high profit companies don't need human intelligence.. what do these humans do now ?
Watch the matrix or Terminator you'll get an idea 😂
We'll do bhakti
What do you mean I turned out to be fake? Insulting!
🤣😂
Define younger, please
Sincerely, a 3rd year CS student in his 30’s
Well you're already well into your studies so it makes sense. BUT if you already have a good amount of professional experience and were going to start a CS degree soon not already started then I personally wouldn't do it.
skynet is comming
Literally 😅
