They start strong and they keep that intensity all throughout using a core of eight to nine(max) players. Granted that UP was able to defend against la Salle effectively; remember the first thing that coaches wil instill in players is the belief that there is no such thing as an off night on defense. La Salle was taken out of their rhythm and it frustrated them by the physical play of UP. Earlier this week a blogger was making predictions. He was making comparisons on skill ,athleticism and some other obvious factors. But he forgot to mention team attitude and intensity. UP showed it tonight. DLSU is also capable of this but they have to be patient and show some desperation. They looked like a beaten team early in the third.

They probably knew DLSU was gonna go zone on defense to start (with UP being subpar from 3 this season), so UP went ham and ran on every chance they got. 17 points off 11 DLSU turnovers in the first half for UP. Incredibly creative also of Coach Gold to put different defenders on KQ - a pesky one in Alarcon, a bruiser in Torres, athletic ones in Torculas and Lopez, to take the MVP out of his rhythm. Hats off to Phillips, awesome game for him being the only one to cause problems for UP, only marred by that flop in the 4th 😅 UP’s championship experience in JD and Malick dictated the start, while their youth and vigor in Torculas, Alarcon, and Lopez showed out in the second half. It’s now up to Coach Topex and staff to adjust for Game 2.

Anyway, I just wanna say kudos to Coach Gold, Coach Christian, Coach Tom and the rest of the coaching staff for preparing the boys. Good job boys for the good execution. UP's performance was simply splendid. They outsmarted La Salle in a thousand and one ways, as evidenced by the final Game 1 score. Armed with a functional strategy, UP was eager to win and showed it how with a period, er, a double exclamation point!! There is still Game 2, though, and everybody crosses their fingers that this second game of the three will not be the last.
DLSU's performance was simply splendid. They outsmarted UP in a hundred and one ways, as evidenced by the final Game 2 score. Armed with a functional strategy, DLSU was very eager to win and showed it how with an exclamation point! There is still Game 3, though, and everybody crosses their fingers this third and final game goes to their respective team, either UP or DLSU.
