Today, so many people (especially in big business) will lie, cheat, and steal just to get ahead. Another big difference is how much better looking the women were back then. Crazy man....I LOVE IT!!! And to think, I was born just eight days after this episode aired! My parents enjoyed watching television, especially funny, comedic programs, so much so that I've always believed while in the womb, I was able to pick up on humor, laughter, and "having a good time" via my mom and dad! Just like the "experts" claim that playing music or reading out loud or even talking directly to the unborn-child can actually cause the child to "be a step ahead" of those who were not purposefully given these direct gifts. Quite fascinating to study. My mom told me she did a lot of these things with/for me (back in 1955) that she didn't always do, as much, with my brothers. My parents knew I was destined for the entertainment world right when I was born: I slipped right out, into a standing position, and did my very first stand-up routine!! Oh, Groucho...you taught me well, you fool!!😉
How did I never know this show existed?! It’s such a great show. I also had no idea Groucho was so amazing 😄 The guy with the scary eyes seems like the devil 😭
These are gems...Thx to Groucho Marx-You Bet Your Life, for finding these and sharing them...they bring back memories of my Dad on his easy chair, laughing along with me and my siblings at the hilarity of the "one and only.....Groucho." ^/^
I've seen the shorter Albert Hall clip before, and he was hysterical. This one shows the whole episode, and he seemed like a very nice guy. And he was lucky with the partner he had... June was as smart as a whip.
This man Albert Hall is truly an amazing person, his eyes are so scary. But, this young man has been married 42 years in 1955!!!!!! All these shows are so facinating to me. I was born July 16, 1995. DeSoto? Never saw one before tonight, on this show.
I actually have this one on a compilation DVD which includes several of these episodes along with some Laurel and Hardy, W.C. Fields and Buster Keaton. Groucho seemed to be on top of his game on this one. That first lady was truly a beauty and seemed to be very sweet! Favorite Groucho quote: "A man is only as old as the woman he feels." I heard that quote when I was with my last girlfriend who was 24 years younger than myself. ;-)
"I didn't select the name." Very funny line. Mr Hall seemed unusual, but he did have a good sense of humor. When it comes down to it, Groucho is probably a whole lot weirder than Hall is. His 21 year old partner looks closer to 50. A real American Gothic those two. If my doorbell rang and those two were standing outside, I'd run out the back door and leave town.
My half brother is 14 years my elder - his 1 st car was a Desoto - Orange/Red and a Cream/White - with the Chrome Polished and the Tires Armor-al'ed - it was a "Fetching" car - at the era time - it was a cool American produced car - "Dad had a Buick Invecca" bronze interior, exterior, with a white convertible top - it was fab! (Non had a station wagon - I was born and they were early 60's Yuppies.... traded in the 58 Jag Sportster) WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!
That first couple are so cute together. I'd love to think they both eloped after this episode. Also Groucho is so good. Funny and edgy but natural and warm. Thanks uploader.
Thank you for uploading this grand oldie. Back when America was still an independent nation, and made it's own products! Sad it is no longer the America it once was. Just a name now!
Put anything out from the current class of comedians or comedy shows and it would pale to this unscripted, ad-libbed perfection. Groucho Marx was just a master and an unintentional foil like Mr. Hall only adds to his wit. This clip is comedic gold.
In the last segment, when June French came out with Mr. Hall, and she said she was 21 years old - I thought she was kidding. I thought she looked like she was in her mid 40s!!
Mario Da Re really was the brother of movie actor Aldo Ray!! From Wikipedia: Ray was born Aldo Da Re in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania to an Italian family with five brothers (Mario, Guido, Dante, Dino, and Louis) and one sister (Regina). Wow!

Tell 'em UA-cam sent you. lol
It's delightful, it's delovely, it's DeSoto!
@@walterweddle7644 Last one was in 1961!
And, uh . . . , tell him Groucho sent 'ya.
Thank you for uploading this marvelous episode. Albert Hall (October 1886-August 1964) and Groucho's reactions were hilarious. Like another commenter, I also wonder if Mr. Hall was a tad tipsy before appearing on the show, or if he was just a ham.. As always, many thanks and blessings for keeping the memory of Groucho Marx, George Fenneman, and You Bet Your Life alive and well.
He was just hamming it up, according to George Fennerman on the Best Of a Groucho VHS tape from the 1970's.
Hello, Sister! May I ask how you came by Albert Hall’s month and year of death? Thanks!
@@GrantTarredus I Googled his name and birth date and a lot of his information pulled up
@@pbailey232 Thanks very much!
@@GrantTarredus your welcome!!
Groucho had a gift, he was smart, fast, very clever and funny in all his programs, i love him
The 50s were pure class. This was around four months before James Dean tragically left us and six months before Marty McFly time travelled into classic Hill Valley. Grouchos quick wit and deadpan humour is timeless
This show certainly had some of the most beautiful women - and they had class.
At 5:50. "That's like living in Las Vegas and going all the way to Cedar Rapids to play bingo for a church bizaare". That's a great line I'll have to use sometime. 😂😅🤣
I'd love to see Albert Hall do the "Slowly I turned" routine.
Absolutely! OMG, he'd be incredible.
A 3 Stooges' bit ? Yeah, no doubt he'd be xcln't at it. What about, this guy playing "Johnny" the lost brother in "Arsenic And Old Lace" ?
LOL!! 8-)
Great comment!
That would be really fucking creepy with them EYES
Hellham
Mr Albert Hall had me howling every time he answered a question.
Isn't it strange that those two young women look much older than the stated age...more mature than the ones today! And also note how smart they were, some of those questions were hard. Thanks for sharing this video.
This is one of the first TV show I remember from my childhood.
Albert Hall keeps me in stitches every time I watch this episode!!!!
I love these old shows! Thanks for posting this! I love the old commercials, too!
Buy a DeSoto
I've watch the Albert Hall segment about twenty times and laugh as hard every time.
16:05 last couple. Groucho was prepared to fight when he took off his coat and did his boxing pose. Albert Hall is a funny guy just being himself and his country friendly mannerism.
I am personally glad you posted these videos they remind me of those days and times with fond memories. Groucho was absolutely one of the comic classics of all time. I watched each and every one and haven't laughed so much in I can't remember. Absolute joy.
He was also halarious on What's My Line.
I thought perhaps Albert Hall was an actor, which were known to be featured periodically on the show, but IMDB documents only this single TV appearance as his legacy. He certainly had a unique set of mannerisms ... I can't imagine working with this guy at a newspaper.
I find the women to be so classy and intelligent. Such a good and different time in America.
ACS Shap Yes it WAS a good and DIFFERENT time in America, we will never be that good again. I am very grateful to the person that put these fine shows on here. They are solid Gold and I watch them again and again over time. I also recommend them to people all of the time. BB
Good time for whom? I'm sure not everybody was as happy as people making money on television.
GingerManGottaWreck
I lived in that time and compared to NOW it was HEAVEN. ANYBODY could make money in business. It was SAFE, very little crime, no comparison to now. It was over and it started going downhill in 1970, the Monetary and Economics system has just gotten lousier, BB
+Bob Burnitt You are absolutely right, Bob. People back then took pride in being hard-working, honest people. Today, so many people (especially in big business) will lie, cheat, and steal just to get ahead. Another big difference is how much better looking the women were back then. The women had nice curvaceous figures. Today, most women think something is wrong with them unless they look like a skeleton.
+Chandler Nasch lmao@U "Regurgitated buzzwords?" "Heapin Helpin of salt?" In keeping with our current charade, all I can say is "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"! :) As for Non-factual statements, I wasn't stating facts, I was just expressing MY opinion. This isn't the first time that you got a little bit miffed with someone who expressed an opinion that differed from your "factually correct" opinions (please note the sarcasm). Can you say "narcissist"?
19:40 cracks me up the way Groucho casually just asks 'Homicide?' XD
Albert Hall, the funniest man on T.V.!
thank you so much for sharing this. I seriously cried laughing so hard!!! made my night....
Nice to see some sane comments being added to this video for a change. . . glad you enjoyed it. This is one of the funniest YBYLs I've ever seen.
couldnt agree more, i sent it to a bunch of my friends who thought the same :)
These episodes were later shown in syndication as "The Best Of Groucho"-This is a bonafide classic.
HAHAHAHA! Groucho's face after Albert says "Printers Devil!"
Groucho and his brothers ROCK!!! I've almost died laughing a few times; I can't get enough!!!
Great episode! The guy should've been hired as an actor immediately and put in either comedy or horror films. Great expressions on that guy.
GOD, made me laugh so hard at the part with Albert Hall! 😂😂😂😂 whew tears of laughter :D
Mr. Albert Hall is a giant gem 💍 I would love to have met him in person. I’m sure I’ve seen characters done like him in some Marx brothers movies.
That UCLA English major was cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute
Hey!!! Thats my great grandmother your talking about.

@@enrigoletto yup! That’s her! Good sleuthing, 🕵🏼 and she matured into a stunning woman!
How did I never know this show existed?! It’s such a great show. I also had no idea Groucho was so amazing 😄
The guy with the scary eyes seems like the devil 😭
"This guy's trying to hypnotize me!"
I was so blessed to grow up being able to watch Groucho & all the other TV programming ..and that generation.
This guy is so freakin funny... Groucho's seen it all, and this guy threw him lol!!
These are gems...Thx to Groucho Marx-You Bet Your Life, for finding these and sharing them...they bring back memories of my Dad on his easy chair, laughing along with me and my siblings at the hilarity of the "one and only.....Groucho." ^/^
Mr Albert Hall and Groucho are too funny on this. I think Groucho was legit scared a bit lol
wow... the first girl was so naturally pretty
I've seen the shorter Albert Hall clip before, and he was hysterical. This one shows the whole episode, and he seemed like a very nice guy. And he was lucky with the partner he had... June was as smart as a whip.
All these shows are uplifting but the last contestant sends this one into orbit!
The Hall segment reveals the power of comedic timing, and what a master Groucho is of it.
Favorite Groucho quote: "A man is only as old as the woman he feels."
I heard that quote when I was with my last girlfriend who was 24 years younger than myself.
Groucho's subtile joke (printers and type) at 19:23 went by so fast the audience did not get it. Groucho was a true master for sure
Outrageously funny Albert Hall ! I hope he found good fortune
I remember taking my date to the 1961high school prom in a 1957 DeSoto.
Classy.
My half brother is 14 years my elder - his 1 st car was a Desoto - Orange/Red and a Cream/White - with the Chrome Polished and the Tires Armor-al'ed - it was a "Fetching" car - at the era time - it was a cool American produced car -
"Dad had a Buick Invecca" bronze interior, exterior, with a white convertible top - it was fab! (Non had a station wagon - I was born and they were early 60's Yuppies.... traded in the 58 Jag Sportster) WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!
When he said he got a job in the composing room I immediately thought “decomposing “ room !! Lol
Very nice to see Groucho Marx. I only knew his name and face but never saw him on TV before. Very very cool
Those Desoto mechanics wore awesome uniforms to work on cars with.
That first couple are so cute together. I'd love to think they both eloped after this episode. Also Groucho is so good. Funny and edgy but natural and warm. Thanks uploader.
Timeless humor and effectively addictive...
All time favorite episode so funny 😂
I find many people on this show with alot of background that is terrific..and..they come from all parts of the world..
Excellent. Thanks very much.
Wow!
Wish he had called Abert Hall's wife forth, so we could see her.
What, Forth Bridge? I believe her name was Forbes.
She would've had to sally forth.
@@BenDowdy Ooh, good one!
