My wife son and I just took some pictures on the boardwalk in front of the Falls just recently...Beautiful place...Seen lots of crawfish in the river and a mink running around...
Pete Marsden Thanks for taking a look. I blush at your compliments, having been blessed to see your fine work. There are many more waterfalls in this region, though not many as grand nor as easily accessible. We are generally blessed with abundant water here in the northern Great Lakes area, though we had our own drought for more than five years -- which only really ended last year. Now all the rivers and lakes are pretty much brimming, which really helps waterfalls come into their best, and makes for very lush forests and lowered fire dangers.
Clan Gunn Bushcraft It was about 75 F. that day, with storm clouds starting to come in from the west (right side of the video). Our timing was perfect. Lots of cool waters around here -- the county I live in has more than 1,100 lakes, and the one to the north has more than 1,200. Then there are the streams and rivers!
Depends -- Wisconsin has a total of 169,635 sq km of area (140,268 sq km is land, rest is water that puts it 4th among U.S. states for water area). We live in the second-ranked county for lakes in WI). The full island of Great Britain, according to Wikipedia, is 229,848 sq km; so Wisconsin is smaller than GB, but would be bigger than England, Scotland, Wales individually.
Random Button Pusher Yeah, I ment Scotland as my country, so even just your actual land mass (without water) your twice the size of Scotland. Tiny compared, but I tell ya... when your in the highlands, surrounded by them mountains, Scotland feels enormous!! Wisconsin looks amazing mate. Been to the US twice, NY & San Francisco. City's arn't my kinda thing (partners choice) but I'd love to visit your neck of the woods. That's my kinda place. Cheers A
I've been to Aberdeen for a couple days via Edinburgh (from points south) on the train. I need to come back to see the Highlands/east coast. The videos I've seen of the Scottish mountains do show a landscape that does feel enormous.
Beautiful! Thanks for posting this up. There is a good chance I will visit there sometime. On another note, we have visited waterfalls on the Presque Isle River.
rlove2bike You're most welcome. I appreciate the feedback. As for the Presque Isle River, my view of some of its smaller waterfalls came via a spring Class IV/V meltwater run in a paddle raft with 4 others down the Presque's canyon section back in the '80s. That was enough adventure to hold me for awhile, lol. I haven't seen its falls near Lake Superior.
My favorite waterfall in the Upper Peninsula, and there are lots of falls up der, eh! Thanks for posting.
Mike McCarty Yah, sure, you betcha!

Absolute beauty in motion, what a place to chill out and enjoy creation :) Tim
savedpurplecat Thanks so much for watching. Just think what they would be like if there wasn't some hydro-power diversion from the river!
