I love how you let your kids try risky things and learn their limits. As their mother your stomach must be turning!! But I think it’s so important to let kids experience as much as possible. ☺️

1. I love ❤️ that Cody wanted this to be captured on camera 🎥, it was really neat to see him think through how he handled his anxiety and got over it as he took the risk and jumped. 2. HUGE KUDO’S to you both for teaching your kids to take safe risks as they get older and deal with the impulse control and peer pressure that is all around them. It is so import to teach kids, who we all know will be taking more and more risks over time and they do this in their brain until 25 without reasoning. It is a known fact in the scientific and medical world that until preteen - 25 years old brains work differently. So, by teaching kids how to take safe risks, (ie: Joel making sure the sides were clear, the body of water below was deep not shallow, he knew Cody’s skill level, etc), the kids who are allowed to take safe risks, actually have a significantly lower level of traumatic injury and injuries themselves than children who have never been taught safe risk taking. They also react less to peer pressure in situations where people “dare” them to do this or that. This is because they have found in families that teach “safe risk taking”, that they already have the self esteem, self worth and family support from these families. So, the teens themselves have higher self esteem and don’t feel the need to prove anything to their peers, they are confident in themselves and their own self worth. I will find the article Bonnie that I read this and I believe it was in Psychology today. It was really interesting. But, the bottom line, good on you and Joel, I love the way you are raising your kids. I know Psychologically, everything in the paper SUPPORTS you, but the proof is in the pudding as my mom would say, look at the kids faces, the total joy, says it all! Love the last scene, all that love and support!
