I see this CWR almost all the time. My window is next to the the linden yard lead i see the brand new OL005 in linden. Whenever you guys move a train a sit & watch. Ive seen this train leave at 9 pm to drop rails at w4th then be back on the Williamsburg bridge by 6 am
yes CWR train can carry maximum eight rails , and is very rare if they drop them of all in one run . Newest Hybrid locomotive are numbered HL .... ;-)))) but you are lucky I do not see yet HL005
Linden Shop-Yard is a home for CWR train what you see in video is what we call B-set , because cars are numbered from BCR01-BCR08 , we also have an A-set ,same principal in numbering , this new CWR are like you see a flat cars We used to have what was call C-set and D-set ,someone with good eyes can find them in Coney Island Yard waiting to be send to scrap yard , they are converted rider cars C-set & D-set were a eight cars links , A-set & B-set are single cars
@ Again , even for C-set or D-set Linden was a home , I still have somewhere on my record video with this train rescue , carrying 8 rails , it is another type of spectacular view ... lots of talk about , maybe one day we can make a life chat about it
sir id love to follow in your foot steps and become a mta worker im still 16 but is there anything i could do now that would up my chances of having a job within the mta.
what you see in video they are R 156 contract locomotive they are what is call Diesel -Electric locomotive what that's mean? Diesel engine spin generator , and generator powers traction motors in short hands ;-)) then we start receiving R 255 contract locomotive what is call Hybrid Diesel numbers starting from HL001-HL025 Hybrid mean in this case that we have diesel -generator powering traction motors , but also this motors can be powered by Battery Pack same way as electric cars So as you can see non of them use third rail power . In past we have ten (10 ) locomotives and they were running on the third rail power ,and going thru a gap they were using 37 Volt battery, Transit shipped them to Canada for some kind of modifications , I do not know detail
@ No there is no scraping shoes on R 156 diesel install Originally this Diesel were delivered to as with current collectors install , but after some time some got damage and other they were removed Scraping shoes can be install on GE and Republic locomotive just or during snow storm ,and after they are removed Not all diesel can have scraping install due to missing shoe beams
