When reshaping my club, i feel responsible for all teams and therefore I do manage my Under 23 (german league) but i do not attend matches. I usually set up the team the day, when i am asked if i want to make first team players available. It doesnt seem to work all the time but its good enough. I aim to move the team up to the highest league possible and am not afraid to spend money to do so. In your video, i feel there is one thing missing: as one is usually limited regarding the amount of coaches, i found it helpful to sign scouts and sports scientists, who are also willing to take a second assignement as assistant coach or athletics coach. while it takes some time to find proper staff and there are usually not the best quality coaches available to perform these tasks, it sure does help to improve the U-team team AND first team training by significantly lowering the workload. ) havent found that advice anywhere else... therefore you could be the first to deliver in a proper video format ;) - check it out )
15/16/17 in the U18 = good coaches and monitor development hands on. 18/19/20/21 = first team or loaned out and completely ignore the staff or matches that team plays.. can be all greys if its up to me
I have been looking several times for a video about this and never found one, until this one! Thank you for showing us!!! Finally a video about a part of FM that was still "uncovered" on UA-cam. I think its lovely that we can control our youth squads and decide who we line up and give instructions and make them even more familiar with our tactics and training. However i also think that in future FM's we should be able to start a career as a U21 coach in leagues with clubs who have full youth squads and sign players for that age range. Its also more realistic when not having the biggest coaching badges/licenses and working your way up the ladder before getting job offers for first team coaching by clubs. It would make FM much more interesting for long term saves
There is a way you can cheese picking the team for every u21 and u18s game. What I do is every pre season, I put every player in my senior squad and I build all my squads out (First 11+5 Subs) decide who I want to loan out etc. Then I save the team selection. When it comes around to your u21s manager asking you to make players available for the u21s and u18s game you simple select the saved team selection from pre season everytime and if there’s any injuries the AI will filter in players before the game
Absolutely loving this. Always great to find new ways to play and I never thought about this before. It's giving me a load of new save ideas. Thank you!
Also to add up, you can fire U-21 manager (also B team manager, U-23 or/and U-18 manager) and lead all the matches as well as friendlies. (never hire those managers and you will be able to fully control all of those mentioned teams)
Man thanks a million, my staff was doing a shit job at u19 development so ill take charge of the training at the very least. I still dont know if its worth it to fully manage the matches to ensure the full potential realization of the wonderkids but them downward arrows were scaring tf outa me. This video helped a lot thanks
what I like to do with high prospect youth players is put them in the first but right click on there name and make them available for under 21/18's. This way, they train with the first team plus will will allow them to be mentored by first team players/control there individual training.
Game experience generally helps more than anything else for development. I’d just be super picky about the club, make sure he’s a first team starter, correct position and that the clubs formation suits him. Lots of variables
About the same here, @@TheManagersSeat. I even check the squad's personality and try to get one that is close to mine. On the other hand, when a player clearly won't make it to my first team, I try to loan him out for a year or so, to increase his market value before selling him out.
I always train the weakness in the role you’re using them for. If they complain it’s fine, you’ll find a lot of players moaning about training. Just keep improving the staff along the way 👍
Hi there. I am playing fixed match dates wednesday saturday. For mentoring under 18 players i put them in to main team but they are not playing in under 18 match when there is a match in same day even when they are not selected. This is so annoying and i couldnt find anything to fix it. Realy need help for this please answer thank you =)
Good shout, it works well with this tactic as we have the inverted wingbacks on attack and the wide men who get into crossing positions. He’d be great at either 👍
Best development is competitive games for 18 to 21 year olds.. the youth team leagues is not.. best to loan them out and have them be at least a regular starter in the role you want, at a club with decent facilities with a manager that has close to similar tactics. That or give them enough 15+ min sub ins in your first team.
@@TheManagersSeat if you can get them about 15 x 15+ minutes in your first team than yes by all means. The reputation of the league is what matters most, on paper and if you look at it from real life perspective than I agree.. game just works different. Nice video though, always good to see a new approach to the game and content
Do you guys get this deep with the Under 21's? If not, is this something you'll likely do moving forward?

Thanks for the lovely comment Jordy, certainly adds a new element to a squad

Great to know! Thanks Ivica 💙
First time seeing this. I've immediately taken control of my youth teams so as to be in charge of the young talent
Nice! Great way to get more involved with the youth coming through 👏

Fantastic vid!!! Didn't realise the amount of control we can have on our reserve team. didn't know I can set OI as well. Thx
Thanks mate, if you remove the managers for the under 21s and under 18s if offers even more control
@@TheManagersSeat hmmm... maybe at a later date. At the moment I don't have enough slots for youth coaches so I need the managers to aid the training.

You can just add them to first team training sessions and leave them in either u21 or u18 through the training units
@@bigwonga82 I know mate but if you want to mentor them, you cant do it when they are in the youth squads
Great information. Chelsea brass probably need to watch this video.
They’d be snapping up every 18 year old in Brazil
What's your take on loaning out your promising U21 so they get senior team experience?
Nice advice you gave there!

Simply brilliant 👏🏾
Thanks, Fahad! Appreciate the feedback 💙
Giving you a thumbs up for being mental 😂
There's no way I could sit and watch U21 and U18 matches.
any tips regarding individual additional focus? my players seem to be all unhappy with any kind of additional focus.
I always train the weakness in the role you’re using them for. If they complain it’s fine, you’ll find a lot of players moaning about training. Just keep improving the staff along the way 👍
@@TheManagersSeat thank you 🙌🏻
Once you've got the tabs on the sidebar for u21 and u18 is there a way to see their competitions page like you could through the dev centre?
You can still do it through the dev centre but no option in the separate sections - no idea why 🤷♂️
@@TheManagersSeat Strange, I can't seem to access it once the responsibiliities are changed
Hi mate, great vid. I noticed you got the Man U logo, but i could't find a logopack that includes that. So can you help where I can get that?
Hey mads, I’ve used a badge pack from last years game - I think it was the metallic one from sortitoutsi. Hope you get some luck
@@TheManagersSeat How can i find that, could you forward me a link?
@@TheManagersSeat I can only see FM23 there
Jump in our discord and send me a message (JDFM) I’ll send it to you 👍
Just like in 2:32 my screen is bugged where the formation nor tactics will show how do I resolve this?
Not sure mate, is that something your end?
anyone know why my players on the first tema getting available for the u21s without me pressing smthing ?

what skin are you using? the default skin or a custom one?
Hey man, I have a custom one. Tato skin 👍
A Mezzala who can't cross might be better off as a CM-A.

@@TheManagersSeat I saw after I commented that you've got wide MFers with IWB scooting inside of them. Need to keep everyone out of each other's way.

They can play under 21’s and first team no problem, I’d argue that playing in an under 21s league is competitive.

How do you enter u21 and u18 into competitions
Something you don’t have control of, sadly.
