I love Markets like these..or places where you can pick your own.. I wish we had more of them! Its so much more personal than a regular grocery store! Thanks Bev for raking us on a tour. Have a great day!
RIGHT ON Mrs. Volfie,.....your Farmers Market looks much like the Tianguis over here, and yes, the diversity to be found in 'em is astounding! The fresh corn on the cob,...for making an "elotada", seared corn on the cob party,...lol...thumbs up Mrs. Volfie and many thanx for sharin' your visit to the Farmers Market!! =)
Oh Bev! I want to go to the farmers market with you! lol Sadly our local market has gotten smaller and smaller over the past few years. I have to travel 50 miles to one that size here. Thanks so much for "taking" us along!
Oh how I miss the farmers market in Randolph VT! It was wonderful and so much fun. I have not been able to get to one in NC yet, but I'm going to. Thanks for the fun day! Greetings from NC!
Thanks Noreen! I am going to save a few of the biggest bulbs and pant them in my strawberry bed ( they are spreading..but I still have room) AFTER i dig up the potatoes! The vendour told me to plant them in Oct! So the timing is perfect...dig potatoes for Thanks giving weekend ( Oct 14th here) and plant the garlic while the soil it turned!
Bev that farmers market looks fabulous! those scones looked magnificent haha YUM! Loved this, I could stay at that place all day. Thanks for sharing this xox
I LOVE the alpaca wool, we brought some of their products into the store last year and I bought my daughter a pair of socks, we kept them in her skating bag and designated them her official skating socks. They were so warm and don't make her feet sweat, worth every penny (and of course they are local) love, love, love them!!
Wow looks like a fun day out. I love going to farmers markets and swap meets. Lets face it Bev I love to shop! TY for sharing your adventure with us. Oh and Cha has been working pretty steady and bought his first car yesterday.
So wonderful! As for the garlic, no need to justify because the amount of garlic in pounds that those two bulbs you are saving to plant, will render will far exceed the two pounds that you purchased! You will most likely end up with 20 pounds of garlic, That in and of itself, is an estimated savings of $180! Consider it the cost of doing business!
We live in a small town but have two farmers markets! I love to shop there when I can, one is on Wednesday and the other on Saturday so if I miss one day I can go the other :) the vendors like it as well they can usually be at both and make twice as much. The locations are different and some people will shop downtown on Saturday and the others will shop the other side of town on Wednesday. I miss them in the winter. Thanks for sharing!
That is NICE! I love the local markets, I've been on a quest, to find everything I need somewhere other than Wal-Mart! You have the perfect location to find stuff for sure!
Oh my stars! What a spot of luck! I live in Quebec and had no idea this place existed!!! Mind you, I've only lived here a year! I will have to check it out before I move again!! :)
hi bev, the people are so lovely and the products is so big ,i like the butte beans, and the zoocina, i finally found some mason jars and big pots at a shop called BIG W here in Australia,i am so excited to start , bev you are my inspiration to start canning.I would just like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.from you oxy friend michelle
This is wonderful and your sincere charisma really shows to the people here. I was very surprised at the 50 cents for zucchini in Canada! Also, for some reason I thought you were out in northern Alberta, not Quebec. I love the energy of Quebec after having lived in Montreal last summer.
I have just e-mailed an organic farm not to far from there..they have a store..and a food share program in season that people buy shares in for weekly fresh in season produce..I am hoping they will allow me to film a little segment on them. keep your fingers crossed.
Love to visit Farmers Mkts. The atmosphere at Farmers Markets seems so natural it just allows you to escape for a few hours from the reality of the world in which we live, which is a sad state of affairs. They give me a sense of getting back to the basics, the way God truly intended life to be.
my squash and pumpkins seem to be going nuts from all the rain..an old friend of the family who used to farm..once told me ..the secret to big juicy squash and pumpkin is WATER them..A LOT!
going to the kitchener market area. might not make the market but will sure look for roadside stands. Nothing has grown well north of superior this year so have to go further afield.
I went to the farmer's market in Anchorage Alaska yesterday. A zucchini the size of the one you bought was $5.00. I ended up driving an hour to a u-pick farm where I purchased them for $1.00 a pound. I miss living in farm rich areas where $5.00 could purchase a whole bag of veggies.
I hope this is not in the USA? Here everyone knows who to buy from and who not..there are some folks who set up along the highway..some permanent..some out of a truck..but the two I know here along the highway..kjust go to the big city market and buy their stuff and REsell it along the road..that is why the Wakefield market is growing..before renting you a booth the local commity reserves the right to check out the facilities where you make or produce what you are going to sell!
could you not save one corn cob curnels to plant as well as the garlic ? this is the second farmers market I've seen on youtube but darn I can't recall the first one. Thanks for sharing :)
🤔How would you recommend barter directly with farmers??🤔 ☝🏻Our grocery store stocks items I am sure they throw out daily...beets(I have my eye on), turnips, endive, various squash, leeks...usually they bag stuff like fruit and peppers about the size of an 8lb bag of ice, and I would certainly enjoy making use of the veggies👍🏻
I would definitely go to this market. At mine, that zuch you bought for 50 cents would have been like AT LEAST 2 dollars. They charge the vendors here something like 35% of their profits plus booth rental, so they have no choice but to raise prices. I think the city "powers that be" here are just nuts :(
Yes we have them but 99% of the stuff sold is the same stuff from the store cause they go over to the whole sell building to get the stuff... We have to comply with health department have a biz lic sell plants you have to have a state nursery inspection... Like our local one you have to have a ag lic to sell at it and in order to get one you have to have your land re zoned all the fee's to do it legal here is around 3-5k thats if your growing and making everything yourself...
I have a farmers market near me and the variety is poor and the folks are not as friendly. I mapquested wakefield and I am 12+ hours from there by car. Guess to long to travel for a farmers market :( Thanks for sharing
part 2,,, Most of the state and local gov ran farmers market wont let you in with out having your certs thats the 3-5k I'm talking about you cant sell prepackaged foods at most and 90% at the markets are wholesale buyers they don't grow any of the stuff them self... So I sell at the farmers market and if I ever get caught I face jail or fines... I know many people in other states that has the same issue...
I love Markets like these..or places where you can pick your own.. I wish we had more of them! Its so much more personal than a regular grocery store! Thanks Bev for raking us on a tour. Have a great day!
I am so grateful that I can knit socks!
RIGHT ON Mrs. Volfie,.....your Farmers Market looks much like the Tianguis over here, and yes, the diversity to be found in 'em is astounding! I wish we had Farmers Markets like this where we live.
Wishing you would do more walk-arounds at the Farmers Market again..hint-hint!! I so enjoyed this one!
Wish I could have been there with you, Mrs. V.! What a great video, thank you for taking the time to film your adventure! Hugs, Jodi
Oh Bev! I want to go to the farmers market with you! lol Sadly our local market has gotten smaller and smaller over the past few years. I have to travel 50 miles to one that size here. Thanks so much for "taking" us along!
I miss them in winter too..BUT..that's why I CAN! ;)
I wish our farmers market was this wonderful!

Have just come home from a week's holiday in Quebec! So beautiful!! No markets on our trip but lots of other beautiful places and foodstuff.
That is NICE! I love the local markets, I've been on a quest, to find everything I need somewhere other than Wal-Mart! You have the perfect location to find stuff for sure!
How fun! It all looks delicious! This video is just like all my favourite things wrapped up in one haha!! Thanks again :)
WOW I like road/farmer market trips - Please do more trips like that . . it's wonderful seeing other parts of the world through other eyes :)
Thanks for the trip to the market! What a beautiful day too
Wakefield is where my fathers family originally lived back in the early 1800's. I would love to go there.
Oh my stars! What a spot of luck! I live in Quebec and had no idea this place existed!!! Mind you, I've only lived here a year! I will have to check it out before I move again!! :)
Me too..so grateful I raise a lot of my own!

Great Deal on the Zuchinnies, i should take a look at my local farmers market

Very nice.
And you had Annabelle Chvostek to play some great music. Wish I could have been there!

WELL SAID!!
I want to go!!!!!! Goodness, I would be in heaven there.
Anytime hun!
I wish our farmer's market was this big. I sometimes go to Asheville and it is huge. More expensive, too.
going to the kitchener market area. might not make the market but will sure look for roadside stands. Nothing has grown well north of superior this year so have to go further afield.
very true!
I have seen farmers markets in the USA?
I asked...I told them that I was filming for organic food awareness and to encourage people to shop local when they can.
i just love to go to markets.
now..the corn would have to be left to grow until the kernels are big and starchy...then dried.
Tip. If haven't consumed it all yet. Save the 2 largest cloves from multiple bulbs. You will yield larger heads next year.
It can be pricey..but I am rateful I raise a lot of my own.
i love my market but you have a Beautiful one Bev
I will grow a small zucchini patch next year!
that is the biggest market I have ever seen I wanna go.
I could have spent a fortune there..and I didn't even get to the local bison meat truck!

I am lucky enough not to have to go to the market often..
That looks nice !!! Wish we had that in the USA but doing something like that is illegal... Maybe I should look to move to your neck of the woods...
I love farmers market i fo buy my groceries every week
🤔How would you recommend barter directly with farmers??🤔

way ahead of you..I have an older video..but this is an undated version!
I don't have to for the most part..but my kale got eaten by somthing and I forgot to do zuccini!
I love the markets but never seem to get deals. Doesn't stop me from buying local and different stuff though.
I would definitely go to this market. At mine, that zuch you bought for 50 cents would have been like AT LEAST 2 dollars. Did the vegetable vendors label the veggies "non-gmo" and "organic"? Just wondering how much awareness is there with the locals.
I know the first couple!! I went to school with their daughter :)
We have the same problem here :( Our market has basically turned into a high-end grocery store. Nobody can afford it.
part 2,,, Most of the state and local gov ran farmers market wont let you in with out having your certs thats the 3-5k I'm talking about you cant sell prepackaged foods at most and 90% at the markets are wholesale buyers they don't grow any of the stuff them self...
