Just started back using a spinner bait last week as chatterbaits are so dominate in my arsenal. They felt foreign without that thump. CB has been killing them but I know SB's are in season, so I will continue to throw them to regain confidence. I always enjoy your videos and learn something new even after 50+ years of chasing them. Thanks Matt.
Congrats on 35K! Love your insights and perspective and wisdom. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and being a good humored guy and a great teacher to us weekend warriors!!!!
Not only different styles but also colors. Last week I was using a white trailer didn't get a bite than when I put on a red June bug color I started catching bass. Great video thanks for sharing 🎣 👍
I have probably 15 custom spinnerbaits that I haven’t ever tied on. I need to dedicate a weekend that I only take my spinner bait box and make myself use then.
Great tips Matt, thanks for reminding me to order some new blades for next year. It’s amazing that no one makes a good 1 oz+ spinner with a single #6-#8 willow blade. It’s so effective for me most of the year.
Huh, thats fantastic advice on the trailer! I never thought about the suction piece of the feeding process of bass vs. the bulk of my bait. Great tips thanks!
Something for you guys to try...Here in Australia i manufacture spinnerbaits and dress them in various materials such as Rabbit Fur Zonkers or Bucktail or Sparkleflash mylar or Krystal flash...Why so many difgering materials because different skirt materials provide differing illusion under power when wet... One feature all of these materials display is under cranking power they all conform to a compact baitfish profile except for bucktail which can be tied to provide bulk. Also with the bucktail i like to tie in a single strip of rabbit fur zonker which acts as a trailer...The other baits when stopped will flair themselves out just like your silicone/rubber strip skirts do...regards B.J.
No worries Thanks Matt..I love watching your content as it helps me out with my own bass fishing here in Australia...We tend to share a lot of techniques and equipment with our approach to bass...If you send me a postal address i will endeavour to put a genuine Aussie lure kit together for you consisting of handmade timber crankbaits and a sample of my Spinnerbaits etc Mate...Hooroo for now... 🍺Back to back, solid, semi short videos loaded with straight up usable facts that could improve your bass fishing….🤑. Yamamoto 4” FAT IKA is an amazing trailer for the “ bulk” Mat is talking about. The IKA skirt also matches the look of the spinnerbait skirt. You can match the color and or create a contrast to give the bass a “target”.
Great tips as usual I mainly use boot tails to fish over the tops of grass but I'm definitely going to try these other options and I totally agree with the trailer hook thing. I believe having a plastic trailer does a lot to eliminate short strikes as well. Like it gives them more of a target to key in on.
Matt, thanks for the tips on trailers. I am at fault of using the same trpe of trailer on aqll of my spinnerbaits. As Igo through my spinnerbait box I am going to take off all of the trailers and set specific trailers on specific spinnerbaits. Keep the tips coming.
I always put a small grub on my trailers to prevent them from fouling the extra weight helps plus if it does foul up you know and can rip it in and fix it. On ones I don’t have a trailer hook I like boot tail I find I get bigger bites but also more dog fish. But I like a good fight with a doggie
I call it the science of the spinner bait, because you can modify it so many ways. But yes I agree with some bulk. I usually add half a straight tail worm off of the deck. Power Bait of coarse. 💕
I have been picking up every spinner bait I come across in the trees and bushes logs and stumps I find and everyone I come across and I have some that I use that are built out of 4 or 5 deferent baits that are always on deck and most of the time in my hand because they are killers and all 1/2 oz to 1 oz are the best ones I have
Hi Matt would those adaptations you use with trailers have the same effect with chatterbaits. For example would a boot tail make it rise up and a machi help keep it down and give it bulk? Cheers
Great video!!! Very informative!! Like how each trailer has it's purpose and not the same. Would the Missel Bait Quiver be a good trailer for slow retrieve(last one you showed)? Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
Thanks Matt. I am on a good spinnerbait bite (smallies) right now. We are getting some of the hardest hits I have had in a long time. Trailer hook with a piece of trick worm on the main hook. This bite is a little weird because they only want 1 color skirt and ignore others. The color isn't a normal color for this area ( can't say what color, tourny soon) should that color transfer to other lures ie: cranks, lippless and chatterbaits.
I use an Indiana blade all the time on my spinnerbaits all I change is size and color. I also run either a fluke or flutter craw trailer depending what action I want. Basically the same trailers I run on a chatter bait and even swim jig, I didn’t know they hade spinner baits with the longer hook makes sense, I never was a big fan of trailer hooks cause’s more problems than solves.
it was the compact double colorado berkley power blade in the shad spawn color. here is the link to it www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Power_Blade_Compact_DBL_Colorado_Spinnerbait/descpage-PBCC.html?from=MSFG
Some of my spinnerbaits doesn't have a bait keeper for trailers. When I buy spinnerbaits it hard to tell if it does or doesn't have any trailers keeper. Some doesn't say anything about it on the package
@@MattStefanFishing I have two differently colors Berkley power swimmer in white sight flash and green pumpkin. I tried the white sight flash on a couple of white and chartreuse spinnerbait without any luck. I fish from the riverbank. I have no truck or any kind of water craft to fish from
I've gotten away from spinnerbaits on my home waters lately because soooo many people only throw spinnerbaits. I feel like every fish sees a spinnerbait on an hourly basis. I love to fish em too kinda sucks
@MattStefanFishing those berkley ones. I've only seen bad reviews with them on tackle warehouse. Hoping to hear something counter to that. I love my sv3s but I'm always looking for something else.
@@MattStefanFishing trokar deep throat hook, medium screw lock, decoy stopper, dress the hook with material, no one has talked about this ever, I'll give it up to you because your content is so good. Your welcome 😁
Congratulations, 35K and growing. To me one of the best channels on the Tube.
Thank you so much 😀

thanks so much for the support!
Love you for these. Above intermediate classes. Thanks😊
The bulk part that you explained about the suction is why I use a trailer on a buzz bait as well
sounds good!

Good stuff!
I use a trailer hook if my blade goes past the main hook. Good work Matt, love your vids.
thanks!

Hey man if you need to send 1 to me to try out for you or even a couple lmk I'll test em out and give you the reviews.
give them a try!
Zack's got a big heart, I bet he would take the shirt off your back.
Spinnerbaits are one of my favorites especially if there's wind
@@kevinbeaudean704 well only if it was cold lol. I'm a team player
This year I started using a roboworm ned worm as a "trailer". It fills up the skirt, keeps it down, but doesn't seem to affect the action.
sounds good to me!
Thanks Matt great helpful tips
you bet!
SB is a must throw. Always have one tied on year around. It is incredibly versatile.
agreed!
Wanted to shoot you a tip Matt. Thank you for the great content. You have really helped me improve.

it is a tough bait to find!
I make them here in Australia...
Awesome tips once again. I personally run trailer hooks on every spinnerbait I throw.
sounds good

Good one , I love spinnerbait , and my favorite trailer is the original floating worm , is it Danny’s Reeds maybe Charlie’s , but idk for sure
thanks for sharing with us!
As far as moving baits go, swimjig and spinnerbait are my favorite! Both are really 4x4 and catch bigguns.
thanks for watching!
Makes logical sense. Thanks for sharing! Love your channel

I been throwing a redman spinner it’s great
nice!
Those are great tips! I'll certainly put them to use!
go for it!

natural shad. check it out here and they are on sale! www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Yamamoto_Neko_Macho_Worm/descpage-DYNM.html?from=MSFG

yeah im not sold on trailer hooks
I don't use spinner baits much. It's used too much around me. I do use them fishing up north (smallmouth country).
they work everywhere!
