Just because you are the default beneficiary, doesn’t mean you are morally. It’s very sad, why couldn’t the father and brother let his partner manage the publishing process, she knew him best

All 3 book are a great read.
I read them about 15 years ago.
    Want to re-read them now.

Why the F as well that his father and brother did not even include Gabrielle??? 30+ years of being together sans marriage? And Sweden court doesn't respect that? Wow 😮

The court would have agreed with her if prior to his death, the relevant, official paperwork was drawn.

Wow the father and brother were dead wrong for excluding her like that….at the very least they could, have given her their share of the apt off the bat…not years later….she knew him and would have executed his legacy to his wishes/liking …just because he was their blood family doesn’t mean they knew him better

When was this made? Daniel Poohl looks pretty well taken cared of. Now he more looks like an old guy with bad habits, like those Stieg had during his entire life.

His fault for not marrying her. Her fault for being a gf for 30 year old. It will make a lot of people mad. But learn from this.

This to avoid personal assistance, butler, maid or roommate claiming to be a partner thus deserve inheritance.

It does but as with many other countries, official paperwork via an attorney has to be in place.

Absolutely loved these books and heard about this story about his father and brother fighting for his inheritance while she had been all but his wife, when he had written a will leaving it all to her.

In the UK, if you can prove that you have been living with someone as their partner for 5 years prior to their death, then you inherit the same rights as a legal spouse. Its the same if a couple split up, one half of the partnership can claim half of the assets.

32 years she made Steig happy, supported his work, was his solemate. If the father and brother had any sense of ethics and morality and respect for Stiegg's choices and wishes, they would at least have split the inheritance with her. But they exploited the legal situation she was in and took it all for themselves, unfair, heartless, unethical gives Swedish people a bad name

Loved these books. It hit me hard when he died. Same with Phillip Kerr 😢. Greed blinds us to what is right and wrong

I have read the first book. I have seen both films of the first book. The actual Swedish version is better than the American version.
Terrible his common law wife got nothing.

All over the world & in all cultures one must have REAL recognized lawful inheritance rights & not just assume they have WITHOUT any proper legal framework support whether written or unwritten but still upheld by the law.
She had NO moral right to keep insisting on controlling the production of the books as that was never given to her by her partner & would have kept the Father & son under her control too as she wud determine the how & when & what of the production of the book which makes her SOUND like a terrifying control freak.
In fact just offering her 20M + a seat on the board was morally correct. And Father & brother are to be applauded for this as they certainly didn't owe her anything. And neither did they manipulate the dead man or the law to receive any inheritance.

If you haven't read these books, they are up there with the very best, I really recommend them. They have also been made into movies. It is a shame that Eva Gabriellson did not inherit the estate. She would have in Norway.

How could the dad and brother not give this woman her share. When clearly their child loved her for all these years
