Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.

Dinah and Ally are definitely top two. Unfortunately they were the most underrated in the group. As solo artists, Ally is making her moves in several directions. People need to give Dinah some more attention.

Yes. I’m not really mad at this lineup. Though I’d switch Lauren and Camila for consistency reasons. But Camila always took more risks vocally, where Lauren was usually more rooted. Dinah is arguably the best vocalist in 5H, but she was overlooked a lot bc of people’s personal bias. Camila was always seen as the best. Maybe in the uniqueness of her tone, but definitely not the quality and versatility
What about camila now doing solo like vocally to me she versatile she can see like this or her normal voice n now is deep n raspy n she can rap

@@kirinray6718 Ally is NOT as strong as Dinah but is NOT WEAK. Ally is extremely strong in her higher and mid vocals, but she can certainly improve quite a bit when it comes to her low ones.

She can Dance, she can Sang.... her stage presence is insane as her Strong vocals.. even Ally wish she had Dinah’s vocal... because she’s that good.. people brag about her breath control in the past and yet they dont see the present.. Dinah improved a lot in terms of breath control.. she killed it during her tour Sing and Dance at the same time.. agitchewww
Yes, people still living in the past with Dinah! They dont bother to keep up with her. She has come out with bops, and her breath control has improved a ton! She just needs better management.

Love your analysis of their voices! My personal favorite is Lauren. That rich lower register and the peaks and valleys she gives. Dinah just has this POWER in her belts and notes. It’s undefeated.

If we are going by technical ability Normani is above Lauren, same can be said for Ally and Dinah. Camila always sat in the middle technique wise, she was never the best and never was the worst. Camila always had great breath control, she was always able to move around and manage not to sound winded. Normani has a really sweet voice, that really is perfect for harmonies or stand alone. She only lacks projection and pitch accuracy at times, but when she’s completely confident in her abilities you can’t tell her nothing. Ally’s head voice and belting are out of this world. She is so underrated yet contributes so much vocally to the group, it’s a shame. Dinah is my fave, so to me she can do no wrong, her voice is so strong yet so sweet and soft at the same time. Her runs in my opinion are legendary with the way she plays with her head voice, like melted butter. Lauren just has a voice that draws you in, that rasp you can never really get enough of. her low notes are so heavenly, and when she hits her high notes, I get excited, her vocal tone/timbre is most pleasing to the ears, gotta love her.

@@badbada3003 Throughout her span in fifth harmony Lauren has lost her ability to hit some of the notes she has shown since x factor, I applaud Lauren for taking control and getting some if not all of that range back now. I say Normani can do more technically because first she still has all of her range intact and is still learning and seeing a coach. Second, Normani has a whistle register and in fact no one girl can master everything vocally, so yes Lauren has stronger low notes, but I don't see Lauren hitting the whistle register anytime soon. As far as belting is concerned with Normani, it's been said that it just isn't her strength or strong point, every singer has improvements they can work on.
I remember Dinah audition on the X Factor, i love her so much and it's because of her that I love Fifth Harmony since then.

I felt Normani was the longest clip of them and If search verses contribution of fifth harmony that genius did putting together Reflection and 7/27 Normani is the second one with more verses sang.

My personal opinion:
1. Dinah/Ally: Such a powerhouse duo. Dinah has the agility and Ally has the emotion.
2. Lauren: She has amazing lows and an outstanding belting power. I love the huskiness of her voice. Makes it such a treat every time I listen to her sing.
3. Camila: She has improved a lot since she left 5h. I never how high her voice is until now, but she is fun to listen to.
4. Normani: I love the warmth and breathiness of her voice. It’s definitely something wonderful.
I agree with your top 5. I do think that Lauren has a better voice than she actually shows, but as you well said, the five of them are really good and there's a small difference between them that make them be in the position you have decided. I agree with everything you said. I wish Ally and Dinah had more recognition because they are really good vocalists. Normani and Lauren needs to show more of what they can do with their voices to captivate the public. And Camila is actually doing really good, she has a unique voice and she knows how to use it. But they all (except for Ally) deserve better teams who care about them and help them get out there and conquer the music world. Ally already has a great team that cares for her and it's heading that direction.
To be honest, proficiency-wise it's insane to me to put Dinah or Ally anywhere below the Top 2. They BELONG in that Top 2

I really enjoyed this little series.
I feel like some of them had less opportunities to show off their individuality because their voices didn't really fit that well together. Or maybe the genre they were singing weren't really suited to their voices. Dinah has said that since her voice didn't really suit pop that well, she had to adjust her voice and I think she didn't get many lines. Camila's voice was very pop and their music as a group suited her well. Normani's voice is beautiful but it wasn't really "big" so oftentimes she had to be pushed to the background. I'm glad she had a chance to shine on her own. Lauren's unique husky tone stood out along with Camila's and Ally got to do the big notes + her voice was versatile, so pop worked well for them. Overall, I'm glad they're doing what works for their voices now and really stepping into their own.
Pop worked for Normani voice I just don’t think it worked for dinahs voice that much
You don’t use great clips for Lauren and Normani. There are videos of Lauren using her high register and even head voice very beautifully. Lauren barely got to show off her voice in 5H and her time in the group led to strain on her voice plus her voice also changed since teenagehood. Since then she’s worked on taking care of her voice.
Normani at 5 is a crime!!!! I prefer Normani over the other girls all day everyday!

Lauren is my all time favourite voice because of that eargasmic rasp but Dinah has much more vocal range and control and is clearly the best singer out of the five thanks to her control and vocal range and ability to play with her voice💕

People don’t seem to get why Camilla has been the most successful. It’s her unique sound and unique sells records. By no means is she the best singer in 5H. Dinah and Ally didn’t really get to show off their voices. I didn’t realize how good they were until these reviews started.
Camila has the it-factor. She really deserves everything she has achieved and she deserves even more. Such a talented and beautiful person inside out.

Tori Kelley, ever heard of her, is a great vocalist, way better than Camila, and yet, she is not as big as her. So being talented and being successful are not the same thing. You also forget that her management really pushed Camila to be #1. But if you want to be blind then, go ahead. Be blind and praise Camila for being the “best”.

Seng Yang it’s the whole artist in general. Camila is such a sweet person and her songwriting is good. She has this unique voice and talent but ofc Tori is waaay more vocally talented. Still, Camila is my girl. I love her with all my heart
I think Normanis voice is basic nothing special but her stage presence is everything not to mention her dancing.
Laurens voice at one point would have been considered unique but her style of vocals is very popular right now so she get lost in the crowd.
Camila voice is so different from the other girls and almost anyone else in the mainstream and I think that why she’s so successful.
Ally and Dinah both have powerhouse vocals but unfortunately we already have so many amazing powerhouse singers that they can’t compete with the Beyoncé’s of the world.
Yall need to pipe down she rating them based on vocal ability nothing else. It doesn't matter who your bias is or who u like the most. You should be able to admit that some are better vocalist than others that doesn't make them any better than them as whole. Each member it best at something and bring something to the table.
Example: I prefer normani over camila but I can admit that camila is the better vocalist and Normani is the better dancer.

ISince X Factor Dinah has been my favorite , because of her Powerful and Agile voice!! She always stood out for me. But all have their strength Laurrn, husky beautiful tone, Camila's unique agile runs, Normani's low tone and beautiful head voice and Ally Powerful belts and vibrato. All the girls are Vocalist in their own right.
I totally agree on this. Obviously Dinah always had the better voice there. She is something else, all the girls are great but voice alone, she shines bright.

If we are going based solely off technique then yes Dinah wins hands down and she didn’t even get as much of an opportunity to show her full capability in the group. I definitely agree with majority of this take tho lol! Whether you think one girl has a better range/tone than the other, it’s what they do with that in regards to technique/agility that can rlly determine them as a vocalist. And ofc we all have our own preferences but a great video nonetheless!
I agreed, the management focus way too much on Camilla and only Camilla. It’s unfair for the for the girls, they were not equally used in opportunity....

1-Ally (crazy high notes and best breathing control)
2.Dinah (amazing agillity but she doesn't have a great breathing control)
3. Lauren (strong and raspy voice, good breathing control)
4. Normani (needs confidence in her voice, amazing top voice)
5. Camila (the only good part is that her voice have a special tone but she doesn't have a good technique, often fails to hit a note)
If you do follows Camila's solo career you would not say Camila doesn't have technique lol literally you can see reactions from many professionals including honest coach praising the control and certainty in her voice, as well as a lot of notes that she improved over time and that means technique.

Lauren was not given a chance to sing higher notes, as her voice is deep and husky, hence her higher range is not that good.

Or it was the fact she could hit them at 16 but as she got older her voice settled and it is in a lower register. Nevermind including smoking and drinking. Voices dont always stay in the same register they did when you were 16 years old.
@@Alex-jd3bs but also management forced her to sing the low notes/harmonies and it destroyed her voice. Since the hiatus her technique has gotten so much better and she's hitting high notes a lot more.
This isn’t true she was often given a chance but I think smoking ruined that upper range for her. It’s simply not as easy for her to hit them now
@@femme2442 she is great now as she is able to sing perfectly in higher register as well. Smoking might have some effect but she literally used to sing only low notes in almost every 5h songs (except MMO and boss) or she didn't had a part (like in worth it or sledgehammer)
@@femme2442 She has improved though, and I think it's because she's not being forced to sing those low notes anymore. Although not the easiest part of her range, her high notes are definitely easier now than a few years ago.
I agree that Normani didn't get enough opportunity to explore vocally in 5H, but there are better videos of her singing which you didn't include or look for I guess to support your list or opinion... Not all of the girls got a fair amount of videos that you chose to showcase

@Latto Maraj I agree with this. She has the second best agility behind Dinah in my opinion since she doesn't have the tendency to overdue her vocal runs and they musically blend better with the songs she's singing. She also has the second best lower register behind Lauren despite having a far lighter voice than Lauren's. Her head voice and falsetto is also one of the best in the group and she's the most developed member when it comes to her whistles.

Me being extremely tone deaf, and not knowing the first thing about singing, I would think that your number three four five, would be the better singers of the group!! I actually alway's thought that! Your advice actually opened up my mind and showed me a new way of enjoying voices similar to those! I guess I alway's thought those with more of a vibrato and sang soprano were the IT factor's! Could you believe I thought your number one was the least experienced singer's of the group! I guess I'm not gonna be a judge on a talent reality show anytime soon! Really enjoyed this video!
