- Join James Lumley from Sunseeker Southampton on a behind the scenes experience of close quarters manoeuvring a brand new Sunseeker 65 Sport Yacht. Sunseeker Southampton (a part of the Sunseeker London Group) - 41 offices across 20 countries, we are the largest Sunseeker distributor in the world, covering the majority of the Mediterranean, Adriatic and Africa.
I am often asked what yachts are like to handle in close quarters, so took this opportunity to demonstrate how they can be positioned in tight spots, with minimal effort. We have a knowledgable team of training captains, who can take you from novice to expert aboard your own boat, so don't be put off by the daunting stories of how hard they are to drive!
A yacht such as this is a real proposition for those still wanting to maintain an owner-operator style of boating, with just 2 people onboard. She is equally at home with a full-time professional crew, so the choice is yours!!

James manoeuvring two and a half million quid's worth of brand new yacht with mere inches to spare: "the view from up here is really relaxing". Meanwhile, I'm sweating just watching the video. Hats off to you for making it look so easy!
Without a doubt the best and most informative video I have seen since my interest in boats was reignited a real idiots guide to close quarters maneuvering by a true expert
Ultimate owner operator boat with those docking controls. And that driving position!
These boats are an absolute work of art. Stunning 😍
Really interesting to see the manoeuvring with the joystick. It looks ridiculously easy to move something that must be what, 38,000 KG with just your thumb and forefinger - crazy!
Great content as always James - thank you.
Thanks Tris, yes it's a game changer for those who just want a single control and minimum stress.
@@TheVirtualYachtBroker Or those clueless like me!
Fantastic video James showing the joystick in action. Certainly makes moving a beauty like this so much easier...now to convince the wife!!
Cheers James, much appreciated, keep them coming.
Thanks, will do!
Thank you James for this show how to manouver a Sunseeker 65 Sport with a joystick on the IPS drive and docking thanks again
Any time!
Was patiently waiting for this one!
More to come as I've also been out on a couple of photo shoots/seatrials on her sistership this week!
Really nice Oyster Yacht in the background!
You made that look so easy james
If you hav a client in need of a captain, I'm super interested. Have about 1500hrs on IPS. 20 years total. Great video as always!
Brilliant video James keep them coming!
Thanks!
Hi James. Beautifully done. Great video thanks 😊
You make it look so easy, good job.
You make it look so easy.
great content. always love to see the boats in action
Excellent James
Really interesting video I have always wondered how that system works keep up the great content it’s great
Nice bit of manoeuvring there James.
Fantastic video
Great instructive video, James. Fine from the sky deck or a flybridge with the all round visibility, but I wouldn't like to do that maneuver from the lower helm of a predator.
Hi Keith, honestly just like a big car, you soon get used to the space needed. There is a vid on my channel doing something similar with a Predator 74, all is good provided you have one reliable crew with you who can call the distances in your blind spots!
Docking cameras also really help and would be definitely on my spec list when building a boat. I have them on my boat and it really helps when all covers are up and the vis if further restricted.
nice one James
Brilliant video as always! Can’t wait to see the sea trial video! Are IPS more prone to rope entanglement?
Hi Gavin, from many miles at sea (having run over old fishing ropes/lobster pots on several occasions), I don't think IPS is more susceptible to entanglement, but solid impact from drift wood etc is more likely to cause prop damage. To be honest, if you hit anything at speed with any type of drive system, you're likely to bend something along the way.
@@TheVirtualYachtBroker thanks James, interesting to hear. Keep the videos coming! Great watching! I Will be in touch when I win the lottery! 😀
Love it
Hi James. is the volvo penta ips a good system? what would you pick between shafts and ips?
You made that look easy.
Not much protecting those propellers is there? I like the boat though:-)
1st 🏅
i want one
Time to buy more lottery tickets you never know it’s a stunning boat
Excellent drive as always. Do you need a license to drive a boat that size?
Not in UK it's under 24 meters
