It’s a fantastic festival. I don’t know anything alike all over the world. It’s done with a huge amount of suffering from all the participants. Love and will shuts the pain up. People don’t rest, don’t sleep and even don’t eat or eat poorly. All sacrifices are valid in order to put this magnificent show on stage.

Living in a schools is party, comunication... That is special experience for me as a participant (dancer). Im not gona die in these 4 days living in school. Repert. should be closer to tourists aspiration?!! Seriously? This serious rep. is to keep strong cultural values. Also there is very delicate and important meaning for word LĪGO which gives a sense for apropriate songs. I took this concert more like ritual and I still feel that emotional fulfillment. But sure, some problems there was
Es esmu lepns kad tur piedalījos 2013. Šogad es nevarēju, jo darbs. Un nevaru tā vienu dienu kavēt mēģinājumu, un vienu dienu atnākt uz mēģinājumu. Tas pats arī kādreiz gāju dziedāt baznīcas korī. Arī visu pametu, jo tādēļ ka nauda ir jāpelna ģimenei, izstikai un sev.
The accommodation in schools also doesn’t work.It would be betterto assemble high capacity army tents in the park providing all needed conditions for bathing and eating. The park it’s huge and this event only happens once in every 5years. Participants who are not living in Riga wouldn’t need to use so much the public transportation once they would be already near the place of the event. I have to say that the last generation of military tents provides all needed comfort to an event like this.
The repetition of Saturday afternoon was not needed neither wanted.Many participants just didn’t attend it and others were falling like shot ducks due to the extreme heat and sun exposure that the participants were submitted. It’s also time to think about the auditorium used for this event. And it’s more than clear that it’s a must to improve the audience capacity.
The negative part comes with some lack of respect by the people who organize this event towards the participants. There is no reason why food should be missing.The repertoire of this year should have been better and closer to the aspirations of the thousands oftourists that visit Riga giving to this event an international expression. Looking back there is a huge difference in quality between the 2008 edition and the 2013.The 2008edition was muchbetter in what concerns repertoire and directors.
And I will end speaking about the bad attitude of some of the directors. Among other things it was not nice to see one director crossing his arms while people were being assisted for collapsing due to the intense heat and insolation that the participants were victims. It seemed like he was blaming the participants for their extreme sacrifice in the Saturday afternoon’s repetition.
В районе ликвидированного гетто был устроен аукцион, на котором латыши и латышки стояли в очереди, чтобы получить туда доступ. Все оставшиеся в гетто вещи были проданы с аукциона по ценам до смешного низким. Желание латвийцев было выполнено. Зверскими массовыми убийствами они освободились от "внутреннего врага" - евреев. Они назвали убийство евреев "Dziesmu svetki", т.е. "праздником песни". Праздник песни - теперь самый большой праздник латвийского народа и отмечается очень торжественно. Команду АРАЙСА они называли "капеллой АРАЙСА", так как эта команда при убийствах "играла первую скрипку".
