Princess Marie speaks over the removal of royal Titles

- Princess Marie has spoken for the first time over the stripping if the royal title for her children. She had an interview with B.T. and she disclosed that her children are bullied in school following the public revelation of the demotion. They both looked sad. They revealed that they have not spoken with Queen Magarethe and the crown Prince couple since the press release of demotion of their children.
The queen has been busy on her Royal duties.
They should follow the example of other demoted royals and keep their opinions to themselves. These reactions unbecoming to a royal show all the more that the queen was right.
This should have been kept within the family. They have lived in Paris for years and the older sons use their prince titles in their modeling careers. They both dropped out of the military. They do nothing for Denmark and use the titles for financial gain. The younger children are to young for it to severely impact them. If the parents handled this correctly the younger children would be fine. I have to say I am not a fan of the prince and his wife. I have always thought there was some arrogance and jea!ousy of his older brother and his wife. I could be all wrong but I don't think so. I have always been a fan of the Queen and I believe she did give her son notice. He is doing this to hurt her. He should have spoken to her privately when this was discussed.
I like The Queen of Denmark, but it was a stupid decision to remove the titles. At the end of the day, titles are just words indicating that one belongs to such and such family. Joahim's kids didn't have to be funded by the taxpayers. They could work and support themselves. Their titles just showed they are from the royal family. And the Queen could have decreed that her great-grand children will not inherit the princely titles. But to take away the titles they had from birth - for no real reason at all - seems harsh and irrational.

I don't agree...they don't do anything as royal duties and as long as they have the HRH titles, they get money and more...Very well done from the Queen...All the Royals everywhere are slimming down...if the Monarch is to stay on, the Queen has decisions to make...if they take it with grace like the Swedish...much respect to them, if not...too bad

Streamlining the monarchy or not apanages and titles are two different things. According to Salic legal principles, nobility and name are inherited in the male line by marital descent and are birthright. Even in countries where the monarchy has been abolished, such as Germany, titles have passed into names. I do not know of any example in European history of the (retrospective!) withdrawal of the title as in the case of Prince Joachim's children. But I would like to hear examples. Prince Joachim's children come directly from the oldest monarchy in Europe and are now "only" to retain a count title created in Denmark only in 2008 (their grandfather came from an "old" family, but according to French nobility law was neither a count nor noble), but are still entitled to the throne. The Queen's behaviour contradicts traditional law and therefore seems strange.
The Swedish Royal house just did the same thing to all their grandchild except for Crown Prince Victoria’s 2 children. AND Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia ARE working royals. And not one of them expressed any anger or spoke to the press.
@@marybeth1644 Your statement is not entirely correct. Prince Carl Philip's children were only deprived of the title "Royal Highness" but not of the title Prince of Sweden. Princess Madeleine's children have a commoner father and would therefore traditionally not be entitled to a title. Nevertheless, they are prince and princesses. They too were only deprived of the title "HRH". This is a world of difference compared to Denmark.

You are so wrong. Look into the history. Queen Margrethe's father king Frederik IX had a brother Knud. His two sons became counts when they married. Knud's daughter princess Elizabeth never married so she kept her title as a princess. Had she married she would have lost the title and would not even have been titled countess. Prince Joachims children were never meant to be princes and princesses but he married 9 years before the crown prince Frederik so in fear of not having an heir to the throne, it was decided to let his children be princes and princesses. Taking the titles away is just in a cordance with the way things are done in Denmark. Furthermore, the eldest son of prince Joachim is monetizing his title and the second eldest son is following right in his footsteps and also trying to make money of the title. I think they brought this upon themselves with a very entitled behaviour.

The example of Prince Knud's sons does not fit here. Prince Ingolf and Prince Christian lost their titles and, for that matter, their place in the line of succession, each by marrying without royal consent. In those days, this was the consequence of marrying a commoner - a punishment. If one wanted to compare this, both Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim would have had to give up their princely titles for marriage. This is no longer the case, just as the purely male right of succession to the throne has been abolished in some monarchies - see Sweden.
That Princess Elisabeth would have had to relinquish her title in a hypothetical marriage and take on the name and any titles of a husband is not necessarily unusual.
The accusation of monetising one's title is quite unfair. One cannot at the same time want the more distant royal relatives to live without appanages and then be upset that they are working. Names and titles are what they are. They can certainly serve as a door-opener, but without talent one will not achieve a model career.
In summary, Prince Joachim must therefore rightly perceive the deprivation of his children's title as a kind of punishment for his children.
So the queen stripped her grandchildren’s titles in did it coldly, now she’s hiding behind her work. .....
If they dont work for the royal institute why have titles, i dont suppose the 're a short a few bob, wanting titles to be above the oedinary joe soap,!!

@@3_times_mum520 No they do not get any money from the state but they have a lot of privilegies and at the same time they are monetizing their titles. They are entitled and do not offer anything of value to Denmark. 77% of the Danish population is in favour of the Queens decision.
They should have kept their titles, they would have to work at something anyway, like Princess Beatrice and Eugenie!!!
The difference is, there is not a tradition for children of the spare, to keep their titles for life, if they chose to marry non-royals

The right decisions..as long as it involves tax payers money, it does not need a huge chunk of HRH in the family who receives appanage from public funds.
Only working royals representing the state and fullfilling public duties are liable to appanage and priviledges.
The royals should only have one child since they don’t have any use for the second ones.

We do not like the entitled Joachim and Marie who does not do anything for all the money they recieve from the Danish state. Do not be a flying monkey for Joachim and Marie.
